Title: Meeting in real life.
Post by: The Riddler on January 14, 2010, 05:22:33 PM
Prior to the people you knew before joining the forums, I'm curious, has anyone ever met another user here?
Riosan told me he met Silver.
I'm gonna meet Lotos by October.

I may have possibly seen someone from here, but I haven't actually interacted with anyone here in real life. I do know that Blaze met Red at some point, though.

How about coming down to Brooklyn, Rob?

I've met Kaso a few times. Light and I could easily hang out but he doesn't want to.

Vaatix lives about half an hour away, but he told me that if I went to his house we would kill me.

So, if you went to visit Vaatix, you could commit suicide while he kills your dead body?

I've met Zovi in real life, and I could possibly meet Rob and Sync, if they want to. I've met one of the Knights from Oldsider, but I can't remember which one...
PY's always busy when I want to meet him. :(
I wouldn't mind meeting Custom either, but California is a bit much, even for me.

The only ones that I know I could FEASIBLY visit (a long drive... about it) are Tupin and Silver.

But, then again, that's still a few hour drive... and I hate driving for a long time on highways.  Not to mention trying to explain why I'm leaving to go that far.  And the planning.

Never met anyone from here in real life. But I live in a small town in Connecticut, so I don't expect anyone to live close by. Except for everyone in New York, which I think is a lot of you. I visit NYC a lot, so if any of you guys live close to there we could always meet up. Also, my brother lives in San Diego, California. So next time I visit him, maybe I could meet some of you guys in California, if you're close.

But until I get my license (which I can't get until the end of February or March), I'm pretty much powerless to go anywhere. But I'm game to meet any of you. It would provide an interesting experience. And I like interesting experiences.

I'd be game to meet you, but that would be awkward as hell.
Hell isn't that awkward-it's just brimming with evil.
Therefore, awkward as hell means that-oh, I see what you did there.

I know two people that go to this forum; they introduced me to it. I frequently talk to two other people from this forum on Xbox LIVE and am trying to plan a road trip with several friends for many summers later (as in, next summer, the summer after that, the summer after that, etc.); we want to travel to every state and meet all of our online friends lol.

I live in central New Jersey; come find me if you can. I don't care, but you'll only have a 50-50 chance of tracking me down lol (if I am at home, that is). Anyway, I'd like to meet any of you guys.

That's pretty much true, but it's probably a good place because people that live on a coast of the U.S. can go about the same distance to the meeting. Maybe we could rent a random town meeting hall? I wonder how much that would cost for a day or two. If the idea gets a good response from enough users, we just need a plan to fund it, as I think everyone should pitch in--I most likely will once it's discussed.

If "too young" means 13 or younger, I thought a lot of us would be able to go with a parent's help (a.k.a. money, transportation, etc.). The only thing in the way then would be overprotective parents.

Also, you can't "guarantee" anything really. Let the users make up their minds. We have a lot of time to plan and people's minds may change. I say we give it chance and not try to "shoot it down" like this.

Assuming that you are over the age of eighteen, you would be one of the ones supervising us. Besides, by the time we get this thing together, I think many of us will meet your age limit, myself included.

I think it'd be fun to meet that random guy who you were arguing with just to find out that he looks way different than you thought or maybe really is a nice person. The same goes for meeting nice people on the Internet; are they nice in real life? But really, we shouldn't be so pessimistic; let's try to plan it first. If it doesn't work out, all you pessimists can say "I told you so" later on. Why shouldn't we try?

First, I am indeed. Secondly, intercourse  no I wouldn't be supervising you.  What on earth would make you think I would accept responsibility for the wellbeing of someone on here?  Especially in a group?

Also, a 24 yr old father of 2 gets together with minors he met on a website.  It sounds like the lead in on the newest "To Catch a Predator."

I'm already planning on going on a road trip to upstate NY and subsequently Canada within the next three years. Adding some other stops along the way shouldn't be too hard. If you live near NJ, that is. So yeah. :3

It's called wait for 2012 and I'd be able to go anywhere I please, most likely.

Sadly, if I decide to get some of my classes in at a local community college, I might have to wait until 2014...  MIGHT.
Because then I'd be going to a University ^_^

First, I am indeed. Secondly, intercourse  no I wouldn't be supervising you.  What on earth would make you think I would accept responsibility for the wellbeing of someone on here?  Especially in a group?

Also, a 24 yr old father of 2 gets together with minors he met on a website.  It sounds like the lead in on the newest "To Catch a Predator."
First, how could I be expected to know any of this? Secondly, why didn't you just plainly state the facts? What on Earth are you so angry about? Why do you bring it here?

Also, that title thing is pretty true, but who would know and who would care? You're not suggesting that your actions--should you choose to supervise us--would imply this title, are you?

I stated facts with chutzpah and suprise at your naïveté.  Don't call people angry if you're not sure.  It's a cheap internet move to paint someone as irrational in a discussion.

QuoteAlso, that title thing is pretty true, but who would know and who would care? You're not suggesting that your actions--should you choose to supervise us--would imply this title, are you?
No, but you're proving a point without knowing it.  All it takes is the wrong person's percieved intent to intercourse  me over.  Some parent or watchdog group gets on here and sees sexual discussion along side a planned meeting between minors and an adult.  They trace my IP or even press charges and subpeona my name and that's the ballgame.  My name goes on a list that every employer and government agency can check with a few keystrokes.  They don't even have to make the charges stick for me to be screwed.  Hell, they could set up a little sting at our meeting place and bust me right there with transporting a minor across state lines with sexual intent, and that's a Federal crime.

So let me be absolutely clear.  I will not meet anyone under the age of 18. I have no want or desire to perform sexual acts with any of you.

Thank you. You may have been clear about it, but I don't read every thread that you post in, nor do I check your profile for your age. I just thought that you sounded a bit angry, that's all. It was an opinion, though I should've stated it more clearly.

Also, "cheap internet move?" I'm not sure what you mean.

Also also, "proving a point without knowing it?" I don't see how this makes sense, nor how it's relevant if it does. Maybe you meant to say "making a point?" Even so, if I were proving a point, it would therefore be a fact (you stated that I did in fact prove it) since you supported its validity yourself.

QuoteI have no want or desire to perform sexual acts with any of you.
This is a joke, right? If it is, then I find it funny. If not, then I'm not sure why it's here (not that I'm asking for an answer).

QuoteAll it takes is the wrong person's percieved intent to intercourse  me over.
However, when did any of this happen? I don't see any sexual discussion. Even if this did happen, don't you think that one or more a us would you up in proving your innocence? All that I'm trying to say is that I wouldn't be worried about it. Unless there are many people under the age of 15; that could be suspicious, I'll admit. I don't expect you to meet us at all anyway (especially not after this). No hard feelings right? I just put forth my opinion and asked a few harmless questions. Please tell me if I'm wrong.

Ha ha! I've finally found this thread again! Sorry for the late response. You knew it was coming, didn't you?
You'll notice that not once did I object to the opinion of being called "analytical," but only to the method in which it was stated. Isn't being analytic the point of most of these threads? Most of them are just propositional, factual, or opinionated analysis followed by the sharing of opinions (which may or may not be supportive of the topic). You should also notice that you're the only one telling me to "shut up," whether or not others want me to as well. This is a forum after all, and I think that I'm entitled to using it for its intended purpose.

As for the rank; it's fitting, really. I don't mind. The yellow's a bit too bright, but hey; you don't look a gift horse in the mouth.
