What characters do you WANT in Smash?
I still think an Animal Crossing character should get a rep, the AC Icon teased us so bad on that and let us down.
My pick would be Resetti over Nook though. Now that Resetti has legs, they can work with him better. Plus he's got his Pickaxe.

-Mii (has moves from all the Mii titles; you can play as your own)

-Mewtwo needs to come back, get rid of Lucario, but slightly alter Mewtwo so he's not as meh as in Melee

-Lyn or the protagonist of Fire Emblem: Awakening
-Toon Link, but give him COMPLETELY different specials and final smash; there's a whole series of weapons to use, and Toon Link represents at least 6 games (TWW, PH, ST, FS series) while Link represents the rest
-Anthony Higgs (from Metroid: Other M; Manthony was the best part of that game, and his heavy armor, cannon, and token blackness would all make Smash better)
-Ridley (make him the biggest character, but not SSE big)
-Grunt (from Advance/Battalion Wars; can use all sorts of weapons, and FS is calling in an airstrike)
-Isaac
-Mega Man
-K. Rool
-Sora from KH
-Saki Amamiya from Sin & Punishment
-Lip from Panel de Pon (Puzzle League in America); obviously her Stick wouldn't be an item anymore
-Takamaru from Nazo no Murasame Jo; he'd have classic ninja/samurai sword, magic, throwing stars, etc., and I feel his series could be the next Smash resurrection now that Kid Icarus is back

I would prefer this thread come out once we have some concrete details of Smash 4 at all. But I suppose a general character speculation wouldn't hurt that badly unless we start flaming like in NS2 did.

Those are just the ones I genuinely want in the game in some way.
What I want removed:
-ROB (An utterly worthless peripheral that didn't work and doesn't deserve the cameos he gets, let alone a playable spot in this franchise)
-Wolf (Even though I like his playstyle, the fact that Star Fox hasn't had a truly good game in ages and the continued semi-clonage of the characters makes me annoyed. Wolf or Falco, choose one until Star Fox starts getting some games again)
-Lucario (because he's the "we must have a current gen pokemon rep in to advertise the games" character)
-Lucas (We don't need a character that has zero chance of ever leaving Japan due to Nintendo not giving a crap. Ness is enough)
Lucario's mechanics are pretty unique though. In that regard I'd like him to stay in or it to be used again for another character.
I want mages to be in the game. Mages like Soren or, hell, even Ivan from Golden Sun.

Ghirahim. He's got plenty to work with, I could really see a a full moveset out of him, and he had plentiful significance in SS. He'd probably be more fitting than Demise, I think.
Ghirahim could be nice, and it's a somewhat realistic expectation, but we've got plenty of sword wielders as is, imo. Granted, I myself suggested a couple sword-wielders, but the Zelda series already has four reps and half of them are swordsman (3/4 if they'd give Ganondorf his blade). If Zelda got another character, I'd prefer someone who doesn't have a sword... I'm not sure who it would be, but as long as this thread is for unrealistic hopes, we could have Skull Kid w/ Majora's Mask, or Vaati, or young SS Impa, or Twinrova, or Quill the Rito from TWW...

But really, I agree. Less sword wielders. I'd also like to see Pokemon Trainer become a time-delay character, using moves that throw Pokeballs with Pokemon that do various attacks. It would be tricky to get right, but I think that if designed well, it would be a darn awesome character.

I almost think they could drop Ganondorf for Ghirahim. Ganondorf really isn't too relevant anymore, and I'm not sure a whole lot of people really use him. I'd be all in favor of dropping Ganondorf for Ghirahim if you don't want so many swords.
But I really want Ghirahim in. He's got so much he could do, with all his sword moves and teleportation powers (I could REALLY see that being awesome, him being able to teleport just a few feet forward to get behind someone attacking him. Hnngh.) Skyward Sword just gave him plenty of different moves. It would almost be weird for him NOT to be in, I think.

He's the main villain of the series. Yeah, he hasn't appeared in a new Zelda in 6 years, but Ganon[dorf] is the main villain, final boss, or looming threat of 9 of the 16 games in the series, including the original, and he'll almost definitely appear in future games too. Ghirahim, while a good villain and probably a great Smash character, has been in one game ever; I wouldn't be too surprised at him being in Smash
with Ganondorf, but saying he should be in
instead of Ganondorf is a bit silly.
Also, on the topic of Pokemon Trainer, I looove Charizard, but Pokemon Trainer has problems regarding the constant switching. Getting rid of Squirtle and Ivysaur entirely would be a bit harsh (plus I like the idea what they were trying to do with PT in the first place), but I wish they'd get rid of the fatigue or something.

There shouldn't be two Links if they're gonna keep being clones, but since there have been several Links over the years with tons of different weapons and such, Toon Link would be perfect if they just bothered to declone him.
Although, at the same time, I'd personally like them to keep Toon Link even if he is a clone, because I freaking love Wind Waker and that Link has the best voice and personality of any Link ever.

It's a video game, so no, not really. No one is saying that there are too many. Just that its stupid to have two Links.
What I am saying, is that you must not know how crucial Ganondorf is to the entirety of the Zelda series. Ganondorf, the Dark King of the Gerudo, eventually through his repeated usage of the Triforce of Power becomes permanently corrupted. He loses his human-like form and becomes Ganon. The original villain of the series. He's been in practically every Zelda game in one way or another and has impacted nearly every one of them in some way even if it was indirectly.
Removing him is also stupid. There is plenty of potential to make an interesting character. Sora needs to stop being lazy ninnyes and give him some proper treatment.
Remove Toon Link and give us Ghirahim. Only real way to go as far as Zelda reps are concerned.

It occurs to me that Monolith is now a First-Party division of Nintendo like Retro, HAL, and Sora. That kinda means Nintendo owns the Xeno series now. Xenoblade has been praised as the best rpg of the generation (though I haven't played it yet myself).
