While I don't know if he ever beat any Elite 4, Ash DID beat Hoenn's Battle Frontier... and then rejected the offer to become a Frontier Brain.  Idiot Ash.

I read that once.  It's an... interesting idea, but there's no way Pokemon would really have that complex of a plot.  And I personally am glad it doesn't; finding out the ENTIRE SERIES was a lie would just be a big kick in the face.

No, but you need to have owned all at one point.  Ash has gone through 26 Pokemon (counting pokemon that evolve seperately).  That means he has 467 left.

You don't become the best by catching them all, that just proves you have no life.
And if Ash ever won something like that in the Anime, he'd be "the best" and the show would be over.
The Elite 4 is just something in the game to have a finishing touch, it's basically the end of the game, everything after that is just for fun, but has no real value to the storyline.

That makes a lot of sense. But for the creators to put something so deep into a kid's show doesn't seem right.
