Title: There's a Road Ahead...Revitalized! YOU KILLED THIS GAME WITH YOUR APATHY
Post by: SkyMyl on June 22, 2009, 12:52:22 PM
"Uhhh...what...what happened?"

Well, waking up now? As the blackness of unconsciousness dissipates, you realize that you're lying face down in the middle of a barren desert. You stand up and start to observe your surroundings, only to find an endless expanse of desert sitting before you, a backpack by your side, and a city bus, on its side, not far just a couple feet besides you. Upon closer inspection, the bus has small holes on the ceiling, dents in the steel, scratches on the green paint, and shattered windows. You can't climb up the bus, and the doors are on the other side of the bus, so it's pointless trying to climb in.

You pick up the dark blue backpack and open it. Inside is a cell phone, a hair brush, a bottle of water and a bottle of soda, a map, and an iPod Music player. On the back of the backpack is a name written in a sharpie pen. "Elena". It's then you realize the backpack is yours, as your name is Elena.

In a panic, you start to wonder why you're in a desert, and why a destroyed bus is near you. You remember that you were on a bus ride driving to your cousin's house for the week, but you don't recall the bus crashing in a desert.

Your phone has a full battery, but no service, your water bottle is half empty, your iPod Music Player has 2/3rds of a battery left, and you're stranded in nowhere.

Well, it's not the way you were expecting to die.

It's then you look down and realize you're standing on a path. Not a road, but a straight, dark brown path. Behind you is nothing, but ahead of you there seems to be a brown...thing. You don't know what it is, but you can't stay on one location forever with the heat beating down on your head.

Which way do you want to go?
~Go forward and find out what the brown spec is~
~Turn around and see if there's anything that way~
~Observe your current location more~

(The colors don't mean anything as of yet.)

*The "RE" in "REvitalized!" is not a typo. So don't bother mentioning it. Or actually, just forget the "RE" for now. X_X;;

Your current location doesn't seem to hold anything else in store for you, aside from eventual death. Behind you doesn't seem to lead anywhere, but that brown spec might be your only hope. You decide to walk towards it. But as you start walking, it seems as though the spec is starting to move further away from you.

You continue walking, but the spec is still just that. A spec. Well, it can't be anything stationary. You decide to look behind you, and find that the wreckage of the bus has vanished. Maybe the heat is playing tricks on you. How long have you been walking for? You can't even remember. But you're getting extremely thirsty. Time to finish that water bottle.

After what feels to be an hour, you find out what the spec is. The spec was actually a large brown house with two floors. Something about this house seems...off. The windows of the house are shattered, the front steps are broken, and there are blood stains on the front "yard". What happened here?

Even more off, why would there be a house in nowhere? There's no reason for it to be here at all, but it's here. You have to see if there's someone currently living in it, so you walk up the steps wearily, and knock on the door.

No response.

You knock again. No response. You start pounding on the door. No response. You start yelling, asking if there's anyone inside. The only thing you hear are the echoes of your own voice. Now you know that there's no one inside. But still, there could be something inside to help you out. Suddenly, a scream.

"If there's someone there, please, HELP ME!!!"

The voice of a girl cries out for help from inside the house, which catches your attention. If this girl is in trouble, you should help her. But at the moment, you don't have anything that could help you out at the moment. You don't know what to do. There is one thing that you do know for sure.

This is not how you expected your next week to be spent.

~Go inside the house and rescue this girl~
~Search outside the house for anything~
~Throw your empty water bottle inside the house and see if anything happens~

For security measures, throw your empty water bottle into the house first.

And if nothing happens, then go inside and rescue the girl.

No, I refuse to let this die. I swore I would finish this, so let's continue.

It seems like the old one, but just wait a little longer.

Sidling next to the door frame, you pull out your now empty water bottle and, still facing against the wall, throw it inside.

Donk...donk...donk...donk...

Hmm...nothing. No footsteps, no whispers, you can't hear a soul but that girl inside this house. It should be safe to step inside, then. You turn to face the door and walk inside the house.

The inside is filthy. Everything has a layer of dust on it, there are mice scurrying around the far corners in the room, cobwebs fill the void between furniture and wall, there are paintings with claw marks on them, and everything is old fashioned...very old fashioned. Looking to your right, you find a small kitchen, to the left you can see a small hallway, and ahead of you there's...supposed to be a staircase that leads to the second floor. This staircase, however, is destroyed. Where the staircase used to be is now a large hole, stretching further and further into the darkness it surely leads to.

So, this house is ruined, there's a single girl screaming, and you still have no idea what the hell is going on.

~Go to the left, into the hallway~
~Inspect the hole~
~Go to the kitchen~

You look at the kitchen and think it's a good idea to check there first, but the hole where the staircase was keeps drawing your attention. It doesn't look very inviting, but it looks suspicious nonetheless*. Taking a deep breath and gathering your courage, you walk over to the hole and look inside it.

Inside the large hole is......um, darkness. You can't see the bottom of the hole, nor the walls. It's just too dark to see anything. Maybe it would've been a good idea to pack that flashlight with you, but nooo, you thought it was useless, as you had your phone and your iPodBeautiful MP3 Player. I hope you're proud of yourself.

Of course, you could always jump into the hole. But really, would you be stupid enough to try it? You don't even know how deep it goes. Not to mention you still have to save that girl. You aren't even fully sure if there's no one here.

But still, why is this hole here?

!!Jump into the hole!!
~Find something to throw into the hole~
~Go back to finding a way to the 2nd floor~

ALL RIGHT, I'll get this out of the way now. I won't be here to update this thread for two weeks, so for now it'll be on hiatus. But go ahead and vote for what you think Elena should do. As long as no one bumps this frequently or locks this, I'll come back and continue from when I get back to September 1st. That's also the reason this chapter is lacking in comparison to the others. Sorry 'bout that.

*Please tell me I actually used that word correctly. X_X;;
**The red option? That's a warning. You have absolutely no guess to what the outcome is, but it's most likely going to suck. I'm not saying it'll end the game, but some sacrifices will be made.

I'd say throw something into the hole and see what happens.

We'll see the results in two weeks...

I thought that if I waited a little, a few more people would come by and vote. >_>;

*Sigh* If anyone's still here, I'll be updating this in about an hour. (Fine, I lied. I did do things, for once...)

The hole is no less suspicious than it was two weeks ago. Surely there's something you can use to throw inside the hole and see how deep it is. That could give you a clue about it.

You don't waste a guess and don't miss a beat as you walk towards the kitchen in search of an inanimate object to use.

The kitchen is about as large as a toddler's room, with a row of bright green cabinets just above the sink, stove, and oven just in front of you. To your left is a surprisingly large fridge. Lucky you, just to your right is a counter in the middle of the kitchen and a small table against the wall. On the table? A flashlight. On the counter? A 9mm handgun with a full clip next to it.

...that's not a good sign. You pick up the handgun, slide the clip in, and decide to take it with you for safety. You walk over to the small table and pick up the flashlight. Better than some inanimate projectile, huh?

You walk towards the hole, turn the flashlight on, and thank God the batteries work. You shine the light inside the hole and find that the hole is even deeper than you thought, as you still can't see the bottom. But, closer to where you are, there's a hole in the wall, shaped much like a doorframe. Without the door. You direct the light there and inside the door is, naturally, a hallway. It looks like you can jump down into it, but if you're going by that, then you may as well attempt a running jump to the second floor.

So, what are you going to do?

!!Jump down the hole into the hallway!!
~Attempt a running jump to the second floor~
~Continue searching the first floor for anything else~
