It's a toss-up between Seven Samurai and Ran for me. Kurosawa is a genius... For the love of God, don't post anime movies. I'll make an exception for Miyazaki animes movies but that's it.
...
Fine, Akira too. BUT, THAT'S IT.
Mobile Suit Gundam trilogy.

They sound animeish. Must be teh suck compared to movies like Throne of Blood, 8 1/2, Breathless, Battleship Potemken, and various others I forget.
I'm just going to say Ghost in the Shell, just to spite Andrew.

And Pulp Fiction sounds like an orange drink. Your point?
If anime counts, Princess Mononoke.
Apocalypto. Hey, it was very good. Also, Das Boot.
But I'm not too big on foreign films meself.

Yeah but it's produced by Fox. Just because it's another language doesn't mean it's a foreign film.

That movie was awesome. Spirited Away was better IMO, but then again, all of Miyazaki's films are awesome.
Although, I was watching Howl's Moving Castle when I got my first computer virus. So whenever I watch the movie, I'm constantly reminded of that >_>

I really don't see why everyone absolutely adores Spirited Away. Sure, it's not a bad movie, but I liked Mononoke and Howl's Moving Castle much better, as well as lesser-known movies known like Voices of a Distant Star.
Akira, Spirited Away and Princess Mononoke for animés.
For live action films, I'd have to go for Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, Seven Samurai and Jet Li's Hero.
Amelie is also quite a good film.
All of which would be subbed. No poopty half-assed dubs for me.
Hmm... on the whole "Best Miyazaki film" thing, I'm going to have to go ahead and say Howl's Moving Castle. The music won me over (though some of it was from other movies he did), especially in the scene where Howl and Sophie were walking through the air. That part won me over.
Though Princess Mononoke and Spirited Away were both excellent films. I did, however, find a flaw in both of them.
PM ~ It was a little too long, and there were a few blaces that could have been scrunched down.
SA ~ Haku was too... perfect. Also, Chihiro's voice (in the dub) became gradually annoying (through the first half of the movie), to the point I wanted to hit her in the face.
So, yeah. In my opinion, HMC was the best. *Holds up Flame Shield*

That's why you watch them with subs. I find most dubs to be pretty irritating. The drawl of half-assed American voice actors just ruins the films for me. Ghost In The Shell: SAC is a good example.

I thought SAC was pretty good. You want a poopty dub? Try something more along the lines of Zeta Gundam.
All dubs are intercourse ing evil. Watch all films in their original content and put the god darn subtitles on.
Samurai 7 was one of my favorite anime; so I'd guess Seven Samurai was good. Never seen it though, not really a big fan of black and white >_>;
By your standards set for the thread though; Akira.
The Eye. I think it's a Chinese film, but it may be Korean. It is freaky! No, it isn't gory- it just gets you're heart pounding, and the explosion at the end... it's an awesome movie.
"You see them too? Don't worry- I can, too. They don't like to be seen. You'll get used to it." a quote from The Eye.
There are also a few German films that I like, but I can't think of any of the titles (one of them is Life is Beautiful, or something like that).
Oh my God, I forgot Das Boot.
Completely epic film. The uncut version is soooo long, but still really good.

The longest version is just under 5 hours. Which is really long considering almost all of it is just on the submarine.

And really, I only said Pan's Labyrinth because I haven't seen very many foreign films. I recall seeing some French film about some girl who went lesbian for a trucker lady...that's the only recent one I can recall other than Pan's Labyrinth. I'm just not a big movie person in general.
