I believe up to 12 friends can play online at once.  Unless that's only random races, which wouldn't make much sense.

Yeah, sorry, I'm stuck in school until about 3 MTN time, but as soon as I get home, I'll post my FC and try to join up with everyone online.  Hopefully if we do this right, we'll have some crazy fun races going.  Like Star, I haven't played MKWii in months, but I shouldn't be too bad to not put up a challenge.  ;D
