Title: E3 2011 - June 7th
Post by: DededeCloneChris on June 01, 2011, 10:49:40 AM
All info regarding next week's E3 is to be put here. Add everything that gets showcased.

Konami Conference - June 2th (seven days before E3, meaning, tomorrow) at Los Angeles, San Francisco, Toronto, São Paulo, and Mexico City. Notes: Games showcase.

Microsoft Conference - June 6th (yes, a day before the event), 9 AM PST - Notes: Call of Duty games expected *rolls eyes*.

Sony Conference - June 6th (yes, a day before the event), 5 PM PST - Notes: Next Generation Portable device expected (called No Games Portable by some people).

Nintendo Conference - June 7th, 9 AM PST at Nokia Theatre - Notes: Rumored Project Cafe to be showcased along with 3DS games.

Does this act as a discussion thread, too? I'm looking forward to:

Project Cafe
The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword
big mystery announcement concerning Zelda's 25th anniversary
Sonic Generations (come on, Adventure 2 levels!)
Batman: Arkham City
anything Kingdom Hearts, particularly Dream Drop Distance (3D lol)
Nintendo eShop stuff
Various 3DS games, like Paper Mario

I thought there was more, but that's all I can think of right now...

Added more info to the first comment. Looks like Konami is having its own pre-E3 event...tomorrow.

Nintendo is 9 AM, not PM, and Sony's at 5, not 6. Also, the conferences all take place "before" E3, including EA and Ubisoft (they go on Monday between Microsoft and Sony). The "actual E3" that people refer to, from Tuesday afternoon through Thursday, is simply the floor show.

Here's G4's schedule, which should be correctly timed since they're showing it live (although their times are EST instead of PST).

So is it true the console has become the main place for FPSs?

Microsoft owns Halo, and it's their biggest (and one of their only) series, so I think announcing a new game would be irrelevant to the presence of other FPSs.

But yes, with the best (albeit most expensive) online, most ergonomic controller (TRIGGERS, not PS3's weird R/L2 buttons), and the presence of both CoD AND their exclusives like Halo and Gears of War, I'd say the 360 is the main place for shooters in general.

I'd freaking love either of those. Beem reminds me of Bleem, the old PC software that allowed you to play certain PS1 games on the computer.

I wouldn't mind this actually, but it seems very unlikely since Nintendo is the one that got rid of them in the first place.
And it really sucks because Nintendo is where B-K really shined. :(

Also is anyone expecting Pikmin 3 this year?

Looks like I didn't miss much. Microsoft usually has bad E3s. Sony this year is just going to be nervous jokes about Lulzsec. Nintendo is always the one where the most information is given.

Minecraft on Kinect? Shouldn't Notch be worrying about finishing the game before tries to port it? At least they are trying with Kinect.

EA, after catching up, "meh". Nothing spectacular. Yes, ME3 looks awesome to those who like the series, but not much interesting overall. Ubisoft is next. Looking forward to it. Ubi usually has a few interesting things in their show. But yeah, want Nintendo and I want it now.

All I can say is god I hate G4. But it's better than a stream I guess.

Ubisoft just got done. Pretty good show on their part. A variety of games, and some I'm interested in. I've always been interested in Ghost Recon but never got around to it, but Future Soldier looks pretty good. And of course, finally, a freaking Rayman platformer. Can't wait. Stupid as hell rabbids drowning the franchise for too long.

So...Sony just got done. Very, mixed.

First off, I still feel Sony is being very arrogant with it's consumer base considering the PSN outage. Seriously, they don't seem anywhere near sorry other than the loss of money it'll bring. Next, if I have to hear "3D enabled" or "With Move support" ONE MORE TIME JACK. Seriously, I do not give a poop about either. Never have, never will. At least the Bioshock Infinite guy seems to get the idea, which looks awesome as ever. And getting the original Bioshock (which I rented, but didn't buy) on the disc is a nice little bonus.

To be honest, the Vita surprised me at how much I'm actually interested. And it's price point isn't bad at all considering the 3DS's price point, Nintendo's horrid online interactions, etc. And any system that gets a lot of LittleBig Planet support always catches my eye. Also, so Sly Cooper gets a new game...but no Jak and Daxter? C'mon guys...

EDIT: Oh, and ONE MOAR THING. Fuck Uncharted. There, I said it. Still looks and sounds like a subpar action movie and I still don't give two poops about it. There.
So yeah, very mixed for me. A lot to hate, but quite a bit I liked too. Odd...

Decent conference. We got Luigi's Mansion 2 and WiiU, but no first-party WiiU games and no view of the actual system. I think they still have stuff to announce.

I think the Wii Vitality Sensor is dead. See, Nintendo DOES listen to people. It's the same reason why there's no Nintendo Playstation.
Title: Re: E3 2011 - June 7th
Post by: Nayrman on June 07, 2011, 10:21:09 AM
Nintendo, that was REALLY weak. Only one true announcement and that is Luigi's Mansion 2. Sure, I'm loving the 3DS offerings now that we finally get to see them in motion (Mario Kart, Mario 3D, etc.) but we knew about those. And sorry, after the Wii I am not confident at all in the "WiiU" (stupid name btw). You said it has HD, except you didn't show any real game footage. Oh, it gets a few core games, uhm....yay? So, Batman Arkham City will be on it, but it'll be out THIS year for 360 and PS3, so what's the point? Also, I think the fact they didn't show even a single screenshot of a game they were working on is VERY telling. Not liking it, and VERY skeptical. Finally, Smash Bros. for the 3DS and WiiU? Yes please! Oh, you're not going to show any of it. Just that Sakurai will make it. Erm....ok. So, probably not for at least another two years or so. Nintendo, don't tease us with games we know are gonna come out but not show any of it.

Overall, very weak. No Zelda 25th game, no really big 3DS announcements besides one game, nothing on WiiU other than the controller and HD (which we knew already). Honestly, could've been much better. Liking the 3DS stuff for this year, but still, I feel let down.
Title: Re: E3 2011 - June 7th
Post by: Tupin on June 07, 2011, 10:29:02 AM
I thought they were going to push the 3DS more. Lame that there are no real games for the WiiU at E3, even the Wii had actual game demos.

I was REALLY surprised they didn't announce more than one new 3DS game, and even more surprised that they showed no trailer for the new Smash Brothers games.

I really like the idea of being able to play a console without a TV. Oh, and there's a console too, Nintendo just didn't feature it because it looks bland:

http://kotaku.com/5809482/the-is-the-first-picture-of-nintendos-new-console-the-wii-u (http://kotaku.com/5809482/the-is-the-first-picture-of-nintendos-new-console-the-wii-u)
Title: Re: E3 2011 - June 7th
Post by: SkyMyl on June 07, 2011, 10:30:13 AM
They did what they had to do, but they could've done more with another half hour. They gave the 3DS some more support (Luigi's Mansion 2), but spent too much time on the new controller for their new console. It's like they didn't want to show off the new console itself, for some reason... (http://kotaku.com/5809482/the-is-the-first-picture-of-nintendos-new-console-the-wii-u)and they did tease a whole bunch of stuff, yes.

But hey, at the very least it was better than Microsoft's conference.

Title: Re: E3 2011 - June 7th
Post by: Nayrman on June 07, 2011, 10:37:49 AM
Nintendo couldn't have gotten away with NOT doing HD. Even if they wanted to, they'd be forced by the growth of technology.

Also, rewatching the video for the 3rd party games, and the intro sounds a lot like an F-Zero track. I'm disappoint.
Title: Re: E3 2011 - June 7th
Post by: Tupin on June 07, 2011, 10:40:15 AM
I almost get the feeling they weren't ready to show it. Maybe they should have waited until GDC, but then their conference would have been even weaker.

No F-Zero or Pikmin? Maybe at GDC.

Post by: Nayrman on June 07, 2011, 10:41:35 AM
Perhaps the leak forced their hand. Yeah, they looked almost off guard when talking about it. Reggie is trying to avoid giving any details at all in the G4 interview. All we've gotten is that it'll be 1080p, which again, duh, it's HD. No confusion there.

At least it can finally have a hard drive. All i can say is that it better have SOME decent memory out of the box though. Seriously, memory is insanely cheap these days. It's like the HD, Nintendo really can't afford not to put something in there.

I still want to see what their online plan is for the system though....among MANY other things.

How come the site has more trailers Nintendo, why didn't you show any of this at the, ya know, SHOW?

Well, Kirby Wii looks like, well, a Kirby game. Oh, and MORE 4 player co-op. Ok, I'm getting kind of tired of this to be honest. And Mario Party 9 actually looks pretty ok. The series really just needed to disappear for a while.

It's not the same voice clips, that's for sure. It sounds like they're trying to do the same kind of voices tough. Not sure if it's really working but whatever. I'm glad we got to see some other levels though. Solar and others look WAY better now that we've actually gotten to see them. And the four player still looks like it sucks. Yay crappy camera pixel -o vision! X_X:;

In the Kirby game?

Yes, in the Kirby game. Kirby, Metaknight (hope he isn't COMPLETELY broken lolololol Brawl reference *sighs*), King DDD, and Waddle Dee are playable.

And for the Sonic nuts, City Escape confirmed for Generations. First video. Looks neat.

Kirby Wii has multiplayer. The first player is Kirby, second is Meta Knight, third is Dedede, and fourth is...that blue bandana Waddle Dee.

The Waddle Dee is going to get a lot of jokes out of this new game. :P

Why not Rick? Haven't seen him in a while. Instead, Waddle Dee. *sighs*

When he started his speech about incorporating "You" into the name, I said "Are they really going with this?"

I kind of like the name now, though. It's easy to say. It's more powerful than the PS3, or so I've heard.

The time between now and Holiday 2012 is going to be like the Gamecube in 2005 and 2006. Skyward Sword and Kirby is all that is left. Hey, at least the 3DS is starting to be good.

Day 1: Well, that was alright, Rayman Origins and Skyhawks look cool, and yay for Halo and Sly 4s! I wonder what Nintendo will pull tomorrow...
Day 2: New Skyward Sword trailer that actually shows new stuff, Four Swords for FREE on DSiWare, Kid Icarus 3v3 gameplay, Luigi's Mansion 2, Wii U, HD Zelda beauty, Smash Bros for Wii U and 3DS. I almost can't breathe from the awesomeness.

Best E3 ever.

Since E3 has still two more days to go, there could be more video game announcements. I want to see if there are any news about Tales of the Abyss for the 3DS.

Some Wii U info from Nintendo's roundtable:

Discs will have up to 25 GB of data
Controller will not be sold separately from the console (http://i56.tinypic.com/2ur9ox1.png)

The only things I am looking forward to for the rest of E3, besides demos of already-shown games, are Sonic Generations (common, Adventure 1/2 levels!) and Kingdom Hearts 3D... although that second one isn't on Square's schedule, so it would have to be a surprise, and I doubt it'll make it.

I have a theory that we will only use one per console, due to tremendous costs, and multiplayer games will involve using Wii controllers for everyone else, as seen in the trailers and playable demos.

Nintendo new console look like a Xbox 360 lol. But srsly, looks rather interesting. So far, there's only one game that I want for the console while the 3DS have a nice lineup for this year. Smash bros for Wii U and 3DS? Hell Yeah! Sonic Generations have City Escape of awseomeness! Mario Party 9 actually look good. Super Mario 3DS, Kid Icarus, Kirby Wii U knew that already. I hope to see more from Nintendo today.

Not bad.
