I got mines like a month or 2 after release, and I sold that copy after 1-2 years of service(It was highly scratched), and bought another one about 1 1/2 years later(my gamecube sucked without it, and I missed it).

Seriously, you should get it asap so you can practice.

I got Melee with my Gamecube for Christmas, which is funny because I probably wouldn't have bought Melee if I didn't get it as a present :P
