Democratic Republic. It creates a balance of power between all branches of the gov. to stop absolute power or tyranny. This is my ideal gov. I would hate to be ruled by a dictator that would make me have to pay raised taxes and fight in the war even if I didnt want too :/
I'm pretty sure we have forced conscription, in the form of the draft.
However, that's only when the goverment decides there's a need to expand the military.

Yes that is very true, I forgot about the draft. Even still, if you choose not to go and youve been drafted, then they throw you in prison for a very long time (Im pretty sure). And I wouldnt want that.

You mean dodging the draft like during the Vietnam war?

Dodging a draft would be illegal under any government.

yeah thats what I was thinking of. I would rather have us fight the war like we did in desert storm. Soon people are going to start recruiting kids to join the army and or begin drafting them when they come of age. Thats what will happen if we continue to fight the war like we did in vietnam.

in a perfect world, where no man desires more than his neighbor, Communism is ideal.

Big problem--we don't live in a perfect world.

The best form is a parliamentary democracy. It prevents two major parties from being able to control the legislative branch without making coalitions with smaller parties and addressing the other opinions. That's the problem with the US...too much partisan alignment. We need a strong 3rd (and 4th/5th would be nice, too) party.

Fascism and communism are both extrema, and in an unideal world they impede rights a lot more than they help them. Socialism is Communism Lite, and we've already established that this isn't a perfect world.

HA! Says the 5 year old... Dude you realise with Anarchy there would be no such thing as the internet?! You realize that with anarchy everyone would have to resort to farming and rasing crops to live on their own. No one would be a Movie director or video game designer because what's the point without some kind of currency?! The only kind of currency would be what you make or grow. Where would the factorys come in?!?! Once a factory is built, you have workers and then all of a sudden it's no longer anarchy.

I laugh at people with those Anarchy shirts and shoes... It's like ooooh... did you BUY THAT?!?! HA! What a contradiction. I would love to be the PRESIDENT of Anarchy Industries...

BTW I think this is a lost cause debate, there is no such thing as an ideal government, bar none... There will always be problems. Corruption will always rule the world. I feel that we already have a great CONCEPT going in America, but that's all it is, a concept. "Every generation needs a revolution" said Thomas Jefferson. It is up to the people to make this government work, without people caring enough to stand up for their rights it will always go downhill. Every year, every election we lose more and more rights, do we gain any? Not really...
With todays day and age I honeslty believe people could care less about the big picture, it's all about the big wallet and as long as they get paid and get to go home at night it's all fine and dandy. We rely on way to much anymore to make any big changes.

Somewhere between a monarchy and an anarchy.

corruption will only rule the world under a dictator. Someone who is of absolute power. With a checks and balances system or a separation of powers, that can be stopped. ;) Thats why I think Demo. Gov. is ideal

But then citizens have no control over the executive, and there really isn't a point in having an executive branch since the parliament can get rid of them at any time for any reason.

I agree there's too much partisan poop in the US, which is why you should support the libertarian/green/whatever party instead of the corrupt groups that are the Democrats and Republicans.
