I have several, I could say atm.

In terms of returning characters, so far I'd have to say Mario.  He's starting to become my main in Melee, actually.

In terms of newcomers, it's a tie between Ike and Pokemon Trainer.  Ike's due to some FE fandom, but PT gets in there for definitely being one of the more creative characters in the bunch.

For surprises, I'd have to say Sonic.  Sure, Snake was a big hit for me, but I think I stayed up for a good while just constantly replaying Sonic's introductory video.
