I could never get the game to drop watermelons like that after I gave myself 10,000 of them.  they always dropped as one but in a 10,000 group (so if you picked it up, you instantly had 30,000 encumbrance because each watermelon weighs 3 units).

they had it on high and a huge amount of items on screen. o_O
