Why couldn't they keep all the Pokemon from Melee and just added more?

They were more than capable to keeping the melee pokemon and the assist trophies. I mean they have that meaningless classic mode for crying out loud. The AT list is just as long as the pokemon list is. You can find it at brawl central.

They haven't updated every AT/Pokeball yet (I think they are missing a combined total of 5), but I could be wrong.
