Well, I have bad news...  IT SEEMS TO HAVE RENDERED THE COMPUTER USELESS!  Now that the laptop is rendered seemingly useless :( , we only got my WII and semi-slow desktop :( ...

Moral of the story:

-Don't open e-mail attachments from people you don't know. Better yet, don't open them unless you're fairly sure that the person that's sending you the email knows a thing or two about proper PC security.
-Don't visit porn or warez sites.
-Get BitDefender antivirus (or AVG if you're cheap).
-Get ZoneAlarm
-Get Spybot, SpywareBlaster, and SpySweeper
-Install the Adblock Plus mod on your FF browser

Your chances of contracting another virus will be slim to none.

Your laptop is fine, its your OS which is "broken"
