Title: In the Element
Post by: THEBIRD on January 21, 2010, 09:02:44 AM
In the Element
It's time to join the fight. Your weapon is your mind, with the power to control the elements within it. Your instruments are your hands, with the power to orchestrate the deadly blow. All you need to do is pick a side. Do you want to restore order and balance to the world, or are you looking to conquer and rule? Well, there's the question, just answer it: What will you fight for?

Elementia - The Massive World where Elements are Key to Survival.

THE ELEMENTS
Water – Control and manipulate water and ice.

Fire – Control, manipulate and create fire.

Earth – Control and manipulate rock and soil.

Air – Control and manipulate the air.
THE HISTORY OF THE WAR OF THE NATIONS
The four nations of Elementia have been warring for the past century – it is now the year 3152. It began with Pyra Isle's uncontrollable fires and massive volcanoes destroying many Firemen's homes. Many of the other people of Elementia thought that Pyra Isle was being punished by the God of Fire, Lumone, for their destructive way of life – especially Terra, the land of the Earthmen who despised fire for the way it destroyed their good earth.

When people from the Fire Nation began migrating to other soils, small feuds began. Aquaria was the only nation that the Fire Nation did not touch, for the Water Nation was protected by rough oceans and jagged ice. This deadly sea surrounding Aquaria was called the 'Pure Passage', for only those worthy of entrance could find a way past its deadly waves and ice. The Fire Nation, with their weak navy, could not find a way into the Water Nation and so they let it be. But the Earth Nation was quickly consumed, and when the Air Nation of Zephyria took the Fire Nation's side in beating down the Earth Nation, it seemed that a war had been lit.

The Water Nation, who had since stayed out of the war, realized they had to help the Earth Nation in order to maintain balance and peace. Together, the two nations were able to push back the Fire Nation. The Air Nation quickly realized how weak the Fire Nation was against the Water Nation, and switched its forces. With Earth fighting Fire and Water fighting Air, chaos ensued. When it seemed that the Water Nation was on its dying breath, the Fire Nation switched sides and began attacking the Air Nation, asking the Water Nation to become their ally. Although it seemed like an act of repent for their past misdeeds, it was actually a battle strategy: "Keep your friends close, your enemies closer" after all.

With Fire and Water now on one side, Fire had no weaknesses to worry about. Their only issue now was to wipe out the Earth Nation, who had power over the Water Nation. After some pleading from the Earth and Air Nations, who were getting crushed, Water realized their mistakes and left Fire Nation's side. But instead of joining Earth and Air to bring down the Fire Nation, Water began an independent movement to stop the war and restore balance, realizing that was the only way.

The other Nations took this bold movement in the wrong way, and every Nation began turning on one another until it was everyone for themselves. The Fire Nation were forced back to Pyra Isle, but they continued launching attacks from their home front. But it seemed that no country was strong enough alone to beat out another and the fate of the world was to continue to fight and exhaust their weaponry forever more...

Or maybe not.

The Gods of each nation had a plan to restore balance to their homes. They went to the Star Spirits for help. The Star Spirits controlled Light and Dark and held the hopes and wishes of each individual inside of them. There was a star for every person, and a shooting star represented someone's last dying breath.

But, there were twelve Star Spirits that were not assigned humans. The Elder Twelve never died, but spent their immortal years looking after the world of Elementia and preventing the balance to be destroyed. They created the four Gods of Balance who were now asking them for their assistance. And after thirty years of war, the Elder Twelve realized that if they did not step in, the world would be doomed to a never-ending war.

The Elder Twelve first had the four Gods return to their temples in their respective homes and then seal themselves within so they could not be touched. They would be called upon when needed. Then, the Elder Twelve did what was once thought to be impossible. They fell. Twelve shooting stars came crashing down, the electric blue light could be seen all across the galaxy. No one fought that day, but stayed inside to pray. The stars fell in three's into each nation and fell into a deep slumber – trusting that they would be awakened when the time was right.

Before leaving the skies, the Elder Twelve created one last thing with the help of the four Gods. They took a lion and an eagle and created the only creature of its kind: the Eagon. This mystical beast with a lion's body and an eagle's powerful wings, with strong lion teeth inside of a sharp beak and powerful lion back legs with sharp front talons, was the wisest and most powerful creature in the world. The Elder Twelve created this beast, while the four Gods gave it some of their power – the power of the Elements. The Eagon mastered all four Elements and then was sent to live on the mountains of Zodia, where it would teach its power to any who had the skills to confront it.

Over the next seventy years of war, with the nations fighting and without the Gods or the Elder Twelve, life seemed hopeless. And now, people were gaining the abilities to master elements. Each nation began learning their respective elements from the Eagon, who taught the select few who could reach Mount Zodia. First they had to conquer the terrible ocean and jagged ice that surrounded it. Then they had to face the lava and small volcanoes that survived at the bottom of the mountain. Next was climbing it and avoiding the jagged rocks and falling boulders. Finally, they had to withstand the hurricane and twisters that roared at the peak. If they could survive each elemental test, they could learn one of the elements. Few survived, but the ones that did became legends and could pass on their powers to their children.

That is how Element Masters were born. These techniques were then used to upgrade their fighting styles and try to end the war – but since every nation had these secrets, nothing was gained but more bloodshed. The first generation of Element Masters had tried but failed to successfully end the war. Since each element was stronger during a different season (Water during Winter, Fire during Summer, Air during Fall, and Earth during Spring), it seemed that the nations were doomed to rule Elementia only three months a year before being conquered again. None of the nations would succumb to the stronger one during its season, and fighting continued. This wasn't the balance that the Star Spirits had had in mind, and so the war raged on.

A second generation of Element Masters have arrived. Children of the first Element Masters have learned the technique from their fathers and mothers. This second generation may be young, but many of the people have put their hope in them. Maybe these new powerful young ones could end the war that has exhausted Elementia for the past one hundred years. Can the second generation unleash the power of the Star Spirits and end the war, or will they too succumb to power and attempt to control the world?

The choice is up to you.
THE FOUR GODS
God of Fire – Lumone – an often wrathful and short-tempered God. But he understands reason and is willing to hear someone out once he has calmed down.

Goddess of Earth – Koa – a stubborn and strong Goddess. Although she is calm and thinks carefully before acting, once she has chosen she is not likely to switch.

God of Air – Xe – The quickest and most cunning of the Gods. His spirit always roars for freedom and he is the most pacifist of the Gods.

Goddess of Water – Pura – The beautiful and wise Goddess who represents hope. She is strong-willed and courageous and longs for balance.
THE ELDER TWELVE
Aries – Fire
Leo – Fire
Sagittarius – Fire

Taurus – Earth
Virgo – Earth
Capricorn – Earth

Gemini – Air
Libra – Air
Aquarius – Air

Cancer – Water
Scorpio – Water
Pisces – Water
THE ZODIA
An underground organization started by the first generation, living in a cave by Mount Zodia. A select few group of Fire, Water, Earth, and Air Masters that wanted to end the war began this group – named after the zodiac of the heavens, where the Star Spirits were said to have lived in the sky. Although they did not get very far in their quest for peace, they hope to gain support from the second generation to fight for the cause of ending the war and restoring balance to the world.
THE DYNASTY
These Element Masters consist of the few who do not wish to end the war, but fuel its embers until they can rise and take control, entering the era of the Dynasty where they will be the supreme rulers. Since the second generation has moved in, they have been attempting to gain as much support as they can, since many believe the second generation has the power to shape the fate of the world.
THE SHADOW SOULS
This organization was started by a man who failed to climb Mount Zodia, but did not die. His rage and jealousy caused him to become a hermit, practicing the elements based on what he observed by others. But with his broken spirit he could not master any of the four elements. Instead, he became the first Shadow Master. The powers of a Shadow Master are unclear, since this man is the only one who seems able to do it. But, after mastering this new power he has taken a new name and face – calling himself the Shape Shifter, and is willing to teach the youths this new art, hoping to overrun the world in darkness.
THE NATIONS
Pyra Isle – Covered in volcanoes, desert, and rocky terrain. Villages are usually found in the middle of valleys or at the foot of mountains. Their Fire Temple is hidden past the treacherous Valley of Volcanoes, where the active and unforgiving volcanoes once commanded by the God of Fire lay.

Aquaria – There is always snow on the ground in this terrain. Around it is the Pure Passage (a line of whirlpools and jagged ice created by the Goddess of Water herself), where allegedly only the pure can pass. The outer layer is circular and icy, with calm water on the inside. The inner layer is also circular and icy, with more water, and then the center has a beautiful, legendary oasis with the Water Temple hidden within it.

Terra – This terrain is covered in rocks and mountains, with forestry all along the bottom. The Rocky Mountain Range is said to have been created by the Goddess of Earth, and without the steady Earthmen footing, it is nearly impossible to climb. The Earth Nation homes are safe at the top of each peak, but also a long travel from any other form of life. At the bottom is the Forbidden Forest where it is easy to get lost, and only the ones chosen by the Goddess of Earth can get through and find her temple hidden away in the center.

Zephyria – The Air Nation home is, at first sight, a flat stretch of land with small towns on either side of a raging hurricane created by the God of Air to keep trespassers out. But at a second glance you may notice the floating islands above this hurricane, with the Sky Mountains connecting the two islands together. Only reachable with the flying Airmen, the Air Temple is tucked away where only few can find it.
INFO ON THE ERA
Although it may be beating our planet with over a millennium of extra years, their way of life isn't overrun by flying cars and people riding jetpacks. They have a much simpler way of life. They get around on the backs of animals or wagons and cross water in wooden boats. Weapons include items such as swords or catapults and maybe a few guns. Television and radio don't exist, along with all other electronics. People send written messages with their birds or by way of mouth. But just because technology isn't booming doesn't mean they haven't developed faster in other ways...

Plant and animal life is where the real changes take place. Genes are not a factor on this planet. Any animal can mate with any animal, and the same with any plant. You can find anything if you just know what habitat they can survive in and their niche. The Eagon is a prime example of the types of animals you may find in Elementia. The Fire Mouse (a mouse with the tip of its tail burning and red eyes), for example, lives in holes underground only in the Fire Nation. The Ice Hawk is a large, colorful blue bird with an ice armor that would die if it ever left the icy terrain in the Water Nation.

Then there are the plants, which are somewhat like the animals that inhabit this world. The Blasting Mushroom may look like a normally, overly-sized, as-big-as-your-torso, red mushroom with pink dots. But get too close and those little pink dots with spray in your direction and explode. It's obvious where this plant hails from – Pyra Isle. The Tramp-O-Lily in Zephryia, an oversized lily with the inflorescence curvy like a spring, can be jumped on to soar to higher heights. In Terra, there is a large brown flower without a stem that lies open on the ground, but if you scare it, it will close up and roll at you like a boulder. Although it won't hurt too badly to get hit by it, it's point is to look like a boulder and scare you away (which works quite well most of the time).

As you can see, it's the wildlife of Elementia to marvel at. And during your journey through this world, I'm sure you'll come to find more and more exciting specimens of creatures. Anything and everything is possible, after all.
((glad to see the turn out. and it looks like we can start. basically you can begin wherever, although on your own soil would be the most believable. and don't worry about the different organizations, those don't come in until later.))

Solon was balancing very carefully on a thin log about fifty feet in the air. Using the air, he was able to maintain his balance and keep himself on the log. He walked slowly, concentrating on the air around him and ignoring the mounting air pressure as he moved the air to keep himself steady. Unfortunately, his concentration was broken when he heard someone yelling, "Solon!" He whirled around, the air that was holding him up dropping, and he found himself falling.

"Ah!" he cried out, quickly forming a puff of air underneath him to allow him to float steadily to the ground. "What was that for!?" He peered out to see who had called for him, and quickly realized it was one of the monks that guarded the Air Temple. "Oh, hello Monk," he said, quickly bowing and hoping he wouldn't get scolded for his harsh tongue.

"Solon, I've been told by the Great Monk to get you and bring you to the Temple. The others from the second generation will be there as well," the Monk said curtly. They must have needed to get there soon, or the Monk wouldn't have been so fidgety.

"Oh, uh, okay," Solon said, a little nervous. The Monks had always said the second generation was special, that they could end the war. Was that what this little convention was going to be about? Solon followed the Monk, wondering if his destiny was about to unfold...

Reina was in an alleyway, sitting on an empty crate, notebook in hand. It wasn't a diary, something other girls her age would have, but rather a collection of notes... New armor and weapon designs, different fighting techniques, places, people of interest, those types of things. Today, she was studying one particular page labeled, "Bastards to Hunt".

"Another power hungry moron," she mumbles, closing and putting the book away. Reina pulls the hood of her cloak over her head, and stands up. The day before, she had tailed her target and his buddy to get the information that she wanted. Unfortunately, it would have caused too much of a scene to take him down then, but now there was nothing stopping her, at least, not as many things. 'How did my family get tied into this though?'

The girl slipped back onto the main streets, blending in with the various crowds. It didn't take her very long to find who she was looking for. He was a chubby guy that dressed lavishly, spoke loudly, and laughed that fake laugh that only rich people seemed to use. So Reina picked up her pace a bit, gracefully moving through people, yet kept her eyes locked on him in concentration.

With one swift motion, she had drawn one of her blades, and plunged it into the man's back, ignoring the screams of nearby civilians. After pulling her weapon free, she flees, guards now on her tail. She turns around to fight off a few of them, but retreats, using nearby tables and ledges to get onto the rooftops and out of sight.

Talon sat in a slightly lit room with only an old, creaky table sitting between him and 3 other men. The other line of defense was 5 cards, and chips that lied in no certain alignment on the table. One of the men threw down his cards in defeat as the final 3 looked at each other. The first man set his cards on the table with a grimy smile seeping through his lips. The second man smirked as he showed his five from his hand. The first man slammed the table as he charged out of the room. Finally, Talon looked at the cards on the table. "Son of a...!" He yelped as he threw his cards down and stormed out himself.

Talon leaned up against a wall as he watched the monk walk back with Solon. He had just been informed about the meeting himself. He got off the wall and opened his arms as he made his way over to both of them. "Evening my good sir! And Solon, my friend, it appears that we are heading to the same destination. Why not let me accompany you. Its been forever since we've simple seen each other!" Talon told them in a sarcastic voice as his fingers slithered over Solon's shoulder, an enormous smile flowing across his face.

Kumori began to concentrate as he ran down the rocky hillside to his village. He had finished his daily training routine which consisted of him attempting to clear the treacherous Valley of Volcanoes, each day proceeding farther, even traveling an inch farther than the day before gave him the confidence that he grew stronger.

"Flamma Efecto" he said under his breath, the instant he finished these words flames began to twin and circle around his body. Each day on his decent to his village he attempts to keep this flame shield surrounding him. Every day he could hold it a split second longer, today being 93 seconds as a max.

Once he reached the ground he muttered "Desaparecer" the flames vanished. He began the short walk to his house, he had forged it out of limestone and sealed it together with thicker flames than usual. His house was farther out than most of the other villagers, his solo training methods had become problematic for the other members of Pyre Isle. To make matters worse his house was adjacent to a field of blasting mushrooms. As he neared the door of his house he heard a loud noise, it came from the village. "An explosion? What's going on?" Kumori began to run towards the village to find the cause of the disturbance.

The redhaired youth was sitting at a table, sipping a warm cup of tea while reading a newspaper. "War efforts grow stronger - More men drafted" the front page read. He sighed as he read about how the war was being pushed by the heads of the nation, and how they needed more men "eager to join the force". Same old, same old... He thought, setting the paper down.

His thoughts were disturbed when he heard a few cries of terror and surprise. He looked over to find a girl running away from a few guards, then jumping up high to use the rooftops for her escape. Impressive, he thought, watching the spectacle unfold before his eyes, but why was she being hunted? He got out of his seat, set a bit of money on the table to cover for the tea, and set out nonchalantly in pursuit of the mysterious young woman.

Solon grinned back. "Ah, Talon, I almost didn't recognize you. You've grown in the past few hours!" he exclaimed, allowing his friend to accompany them. The Monk said nothing and continued to lead the way. More serious now, Solon said, "Sounds like the Great Monk wants to talk to us about the war. You know, with this whole 'second generation will save the world' crap the Monks are spewing out. He'll probably try to inspire us with that ridiculous high and mighty accent he does when he thinks people are losing interest in him." Solon rolled his eyes. Not many respected the new Great Monk. He had been the impromptu successor of the last Great Monk, who died at war and was loved by all. Compared to the old Great Monk, the new Great Monk was nothing more than a ten-year-old trying to play a big man's game.

Reina continued to run across the rooftops, occasionally pausing to knock down a guard behind her. She slowed a bit when she saw that there was no one behind her as far as she could see, but not by much. After flicking the blood off her blades, she sheathed them and continued to jog, hopping down to ground level when she got somewhat close to her hideout. Reina smirked at a wanted poster on a nearby wall with her image on it, and tore it away as she went by without a second thought. She then slipped back into the alleys, making quick left and rights, and bounding over walls as she went deeper into them.

I'm probably going to join, but first I have a few questions/suggestions.
1. Does water power include a transition from water to ice?
2. Can water power be used to freeze someone's blood/bodily fluids, making them explode?
3. What scale do the powers operate on? (eg, visible amounts of the object only, or all the way down to manipulating single molecules?)
4. Can fire power be used to give someone a temporary burst of energy or speed up chemical reactions in the body(lighting them on fire from the inside)?
5. Can air power be used to make someone's lungs explode (by increasing the air pressure inside)?
6. Can air power be used to make a vacuum around a target?
7. Shouldn't Aquarius be one of the water-based elders rather than air? (you could move scorpio to earth and virgo to air to make this work)
8. If Xe (most pacifistic god) is the god of air, why did the air country join in so quickly?

Sorry if these are questions that were supposed to gradually dawn on the players, or they have ruined the game in some other way.  I will probably write up the character sheet tomorrow, after I get answers and write my last exam.

((So_So man, no godmodding D:))

Kumori began to run faster on the ragged ground as he proceeded to the location of the explosion. He emerged over a small cliff to find a group of soilders. "10..14...20..What are they doing there?" Kumori remained hidden on the cliff has he listened closely to the soilders. "Do you understand the power of the soilders of Pyra Isle, we must remain vigilant! We have every right to expand into Terra and Zephyria, this small island is not large enough for us all to live comfortably! The dangers of the Valley of Volcanoes make the living space even smaller. This war has taken it's toll on all of us, however if more of you join the sooner we all can end it!"

Kumori had contemplated joining the army, however he did not care about honor, or praise. He wanted power, his past has made him bitter and cruel. "What weak willed civilians, they are all pathetic" Kumori muttered as he saw those rise to join the cause. "There choices, there mistakes" he said as he walked back to his house.

Harver continued a light jog in pursuit of the mysterious lady, taking note of which areas looked like they had been recently used, and remained on track to find Reina. Very interesting... the tracks are faint, as if she doesn't want to be followed, he thought as he jogged. This will make things all the more fun. But after I find her... what then? Harver stopped momentarily to catch his breath. "Man, I need to work these things out in my head before doing them," he said, thinking out loud. He resumed jogging.

Since her ordeal started, Reina had no problem keeping people off her tail. She's succeeded in every escape that she's pulled so far, and she's sure that she got away clean... but something in the back of her mind bugged her this time. That little thing, maybe an instinctive warning, seemed to tell her that something was just slightly off. However, in her terms, slightly could mean deadly, and she didn't want anyone to know where her base was. So Reina dunked into a narrow, dead-end passage covered by the shadows just off to the side, and hid behind a stack of old crates. Then she waited to see if her intuition was right.

Solon grinned back and was about to agree to the deal when the Monk stopped and coughed, which basically meant silence. "You will be entering his chambers now. I advise you to stop your silliness while you are standing at the Great Monk's feet. You have been forewarned," the Monk said, glaring at them. But then his face softened into understanding and sympathy. He opened the door using a burst of wind, and then walked in.

Solon raised his eyebrows at Talon and shrugged before following the Monk inside. It was completely dark and he couldn't see a thing. But a voice in the distance said, "Do not move" and so Solon stayed completely still, listening and waiting for whatever was going to happen to happen...

I'm probably going to join, but first I have a few questions/suggestions.
1. Does water power include a transition from water to ice? Yes.
2. Can water power be used to freeze someone's blood/bodily fluids, making them explode? It could, or it could be used to control the water within someone's body to make them move to your own will. But something that evil and powerful could only be used by someone without a soul. Kind of like in Harry Potter with Voldemort. You'd have to exercise great evil and show no signs of remorse or sympathy in order to unleash that kind of power. It's the price to pay for ambition, I guess.
3. What scale do the powers operate on? (eg, visible amounts of the object only, or all the way down to manipulating single molecules?) Depends on the character. The stronger you are, the more precise your abilities are.
4. Can fire power be used to give someone a temporary burst of energy or speed up chemical reactions in the body(lighting them on fire from the inside)? It's possible to create lightning out of fire, but only in a very powerful firemaster - otherwise it'd get out of control and backfire on you, killing you instantly. As for what you're asking, I think that also goes under my answer for question #2.
5. Can air power be used to make someone's lungs explode (by increasing the air pressure inside)? Also answered in #2.
6. Can air power be used to make a vacuum around a target? No, air will always be able to sneak in somehow. But maybe it could be done for a limited time if you concentrated on nothing but removing the air from that circle. No more than a minute, I'd say. And you'd have to be an extremely powerful airmaster.
7. Shouldn't Aquarius be one of the water-based elders rather than air? (you could move scorpio to earth and virgo to air to make this work) It's based on the Zodiac, and in the Zodiac Aquarius is actually air (I know, I was surprised, too).
8. If Xe (most pacifistic god) is the god of air, why did the air country join in so quickly? It wasn't Xe's idea to join the war. He often used the phrase, "Harsh words don't solve problems, action does" which, of course, Xe didn't mean that meant to jump into a war rather than delegating it out. He merely was saying that spewing nonsense back and forth doesn't solve problems, taking the right actions to make good changes does. But the old Great Monk took it to mean they had to enter the war in order to stop it. Many people disagreed with this, but the old Great Monk was a great speaker and loved by many that people quickly took his side. He ended up dying in the war, his popularity increasing tenfold after death (as it often happens with leaders), and instead of pulling out of the war it became about avenging their beloved leader. Soon, the people forgot about Xe's no-fighting policy and became as hellbent as the rest of the world.

'I wasn't just being paranoid,' Reina smirked and crept back around the crates, silently making her way to the opening of the small alleyway. 'Let's see who it is then...' By looking at the shadows in front of her, she could tell that whoever is there is against the wall. She did not want to draw her weapons, and stab at the person without knowing who they were... Reina didn't kill unless it was necessary, so her only other option was to go for a grab.

When Reina got close enough, she snatched at her follower's wrist, pulled, and twisted so she could pin his arm to his back. "Who are you?" She presses a little bit harder, but not enough to hurt anything. "And why are you tailing me?" The woman asks, not sounding angry, but curious as to how Harver managed to follow her.

Vio slowly got up and walked out of his igloo house. Stretching, he noticed that it was a bit cold outside.

'Hmm....why could that be?' he thought. Well, the fact that he left his coat in the igloo didn't help. He soon realized this, however, and ran back inside to retrieve said coat.

Back outside, he walked about twenty feet out into the snow. He then began using his Ice Hawk call. It worked, as his pet Ice Hawk, Pura, flew down and landed on the ground. Why was it named Pura? After the goddess of the Water Nation, of course. He had always wanted to meet her.

"Hey, Pura, do you think you can give me a lift?"

Pura simply nodded before Vio climbed onto her back. She then straightened her feathers and took off.

Kumori tossed and turned in his sleep, he was having the nightmare that has continued to haunt him for years.
In the dream all Kumori saw were his closest friends falling before him, he could do nothing but watch from the small hillside he hid upon.

A small squadron from Terra had come to capture a very powerful fire master named Jigen. Who lived in the northern most village on Pyra Isle. The village did not contain many elemental fighters and those that it did contain, their powers were not yet stable, which allowed the Terra soilders to easily manipulate and defeat them. The fire of those who were unexperienced spun out of control and lit the surrounding houses a flame.

His best friend Hiragaru sat there with him, Kumori could notice the agony in his eyes as he watched their village burn. Hiragaru turned to Kumori and shouted "We can't just sit here! We have to do something!" Kumori replied "We can't...we aren't strong enough Hiragaru! We will just be cast down" Hiragaru glared at him in a rage "How can you hide here while our friends and villagers are being slaughtered, you'v always run away from fights, this time i'm going to do something!"

As Hiragaru finished this he ran down the hill fire in his hands, the moment he reached the village all Kumori saw was a blazing light and he saw Hiragaru fall.

"Ah" he woke up, he wiped his head of the sweat that always covered him whenever he woke from this nightmare. He looked outside and noticed the sun rising, he quickly stood up, got dressed and walked out of the door.

"If the others do not show up soon, then they have sealed their fate," came the resounding voice. "They choose doing nothing over doing something. The great God, Xe, warned us against doing nothing and so by not appearing before me, they have chosen to turn their backs on their nation in this time of great duress."

"So you want us to enter the war?" Solon asked, his mouth quivering into a grin, although he tried to suppress it, when he thought of what Talon had said only moments before.

"I am here to give you a choice," replied the Great Monk's voice. "You may enter the war, or you may seek to find the Organizations. Both are top priorities of our nation." Solon thought for a moment. Search for the Organizations? The secret societies of different people, living somewhere off-the-map, fighting for different causes. They were mostly unknown, but tidbits of information about the three have surfaced from time to time. No one had ever came back with news of the Organizations though. It was thought that they either left their nation to join them, or died trying to find them. Solon became interested - it looked like the stakes were going to be higher than both of them had previously thought.

"I'm listening."

Kumori walked at his average pace towards the Valley of Volcanoes, today he was going to attempt to master a technique he had been working on for months. He had deemed it would be his own unique finishing move. "Incendia Telum" he called it. It required heavy concentration for the move to not backfire. It was done by focusing extreme power into two fingers and then letting it emerge in an astronomical burst of speed.

"This should be a good place" Kumori said, thinking out loud. He was perched atop a high cliff with a small mass of boulders and rock formations beneath him. These had been caused by the melting lava from surrounding volcanoes.

Kumori focused, closing his eyes. He could feel the power coursing through him, he concentrated all of it into his right index and middle fingers, raising his right arm and pointing at a medium sized boulder. He opened his eyes and shouted "Incendia Telum!!!"

In an instant fire shot from his fingertips no wider than an inch, however it pierced through more than half of the boulder and set it aflame. However the attack was not yet controlled as it also seemed to explode halfway through, limiting the power and slightly injuring Kumori's right hand. Kumori grasped his right wrist with his left hand "Still not perfect, I need more training, I need to become more powerful, Fire itself is not enough.."

Kumori finished his training routine and began the walk back to his house. Once he got there he noticed the door was open, he cautiously walked inside to notice a piece of parchment lying on his bed. he unrolled it and read aloud "I see a spark in your eyes that I once had, the motivation for power, the foolishness of youth. If you truly want to become stronger seek me out on the small island northwest of Terra.

Harver looked around Reina's base with a content look on his face ((lolrhymetime)). "Seems cozy," he stated, admiring the work done with the area. "You seem to be doing very well for yourself. Better off than most the people I know."

"I guess you could say that," Reina shut the door, then leaned against it. "I don't like the fact that I found out about this place because my family was killed off... but my parents had a bunch of stuff hidden here, and that's helped." She moved to sit in a chair, and though they were safely hidden in the base, she still didn't take her hood off.

"I'm sorry about your parents," Harver said, leaning against a wall. "I know what it feels like. But, as you said, people like us still manage to get by, through one way or another." He resumed to looking at all the furniture that decorated the room. He gestured to it. "So, all this was theirs?"

"Yeah, all this was theirs," Reina nodded then looked around. "With all the things that are here, it's almost like they knew something like that would happen. It's weird because a few days before, they sent my little sister to..." She stopped talking and shook her head. "Nevermind. Sorry, I'm just rambling on."

"Nah, it's okay," Harver said, staring off into the deeper parts of the base. "I actually find things like this quite interesting. All you ever hear on the streets nowadays is 'war this' and 'war that'. It's odd to hear things that aren't completely about the war in this day and age."

Kumori began to think out loud "The Shape Shifter? I have heard of a man by that name however I believed it was only a rumor." Perhaps I should ask around the village, to see if anyone knows more about this. Kumori thought.

He stepped out of his house closing the door behind him, and began to run towards the northern most village. He arrived at the village gate and began his walk towards the market. He saw an acquaintance of his and walked up to him. "Rez, hello" "Oh hello Kumori I have not seen you in ages" Rez replied. "I have been training near the Valley of Volcanoes." "The Valley of Volcanoes!" Rez shouted "Kumori, that is more than reckless "I do not question your methods of living please do not question mine, now for the reason I am here. Do you know anything of a man who calls himself the Shape Shifter?"

Rez looked at him dumbfounded "You don't know about the Shape Shifter?" "I have not been around people for some time, news of the outside world rarely reaches me." Kumori sharply replied. "Well, I suppose I should tell you. Lets sit down" They began to walk towards Rez's house. It was a small run down hut that smelled of burnt bread. "Please take a seat" Rez said while pointing at a chair that looked almost as run down as the hut.

Kumori sat and said "Now, tell me all I need to know about the Shape Shifter"

"No, even that's connected to this war," Reina shook her head and sighed. "At least, I think it is. Every lead I find on their deaths point at this war, and some rumored secret organization." She gives a short laugh. "Ridiculous, can't even mention family without war coming into the picture."

Rez walked over to his chair holding a small wooden cup of liquid, Kumori assumed it was tea. He sat down and took a sip. Taking his time he eventually set it down and got a more serious look on his face.

"I'll tell you what I know Kumori. The Shape Shifter was a man who attempted to climb Mount Zodia however he failed. After his failure his spirits and some say, his very soul were shattered. He was ashamed and this caused him to lose all touch with the elements. He eventually lost the ability to control Fire, Earth, Wind or Water. His anger, jealousy and broken self caused him to become a hermit on an island north west of the Earth Capital of Terra." Rez stopped for a moment, and seemed to be thinking.

Kumori listened intently attempting to grasp every last piece of information Rez had for him. "Continue Rez, I would like to hear more"

Rez nodded and began again "His loss of the elements caused him to master his own. He mastered the shadows, and has become the first known "Shadow Master" It is said he is willing to teach the youths of the second generation this art, in attempt to cover the world in darkness."

Kumori stood up with a slight grin on his face.

"Why did you suddenly want information on this man Kumori, I hear he is truly a terrible evil man" Rez said firmly.
"It's not your concern Rez, however I suppose after hearing this I just want to meet him, I thank you for the information" As Kumori finished he turned and walked out of the door. Rez stood up and looked at him confused. Kumori what are you up to.

"This war is tearing this world apart," Harver said, looking over at Reina. "With things going as they are, it will soon be the only thing anyone really cares about. And no one will ever be able to stop it. It's crazy, really."

"Well, I wouldn't say that no one can stop it," Reina hesitated to speak, still slightly unsure if she could trust Harver, but went on anyways... omitting a few details of course. "I've been gathering info about those noble people and politicians that either went missing or were killed because a few of them just happened to be in on my parents' death. It turns out they were all connected because of an organization called Dynasty."

She stood back up, then rotated her neck, hood falling off in the process. "I looked further and found out that they want the battles to keep going. Why? I don't know... but now that I- and now you- know that something's trying to pull the strings, we don't have to sit here and watch the world crumble. Sounds crazy to go up against a group that already seems to have some power, but it's better than doing nothing."

He continued to stare at the darkness. He was having difficulty pin-pointing where the voice was coming from. "If you don't mind me asking, one of these organizations are the followers of the 'Shadow Master', that failure that didn't reach Eagon, correct? I wouldn't mind searching him out!" Talon exclaimed, a smirk planted across his face.
"I've written down the expected locations on these maps," the Great Monk said, handing each of them a map identical to the one on the first page of this thread ((oh poop, fourth wall insinuatingly broken)). "I need my best men searching for these organizations. I've chosen you. The rest will fight directly in the war. When you have enough information gathered so we can take control of the bases, please return."

Solon nodded in response, and the Great Monk's silence dismissed them. Solon walked out, but he whispered back to Talon, "No way did you win! He's not putting us into the war - he's making us spies. That's even better!"

He looked at the map and noticed the Shadow Master's base was to the North-west, and Dynasty was to the very south, even past Mount Zodiac. He wanted to meet with the Shadow Master, but he needed to see Mount Zodiac for himself.
"How about I get a chance to win back my check? I bet I can find Dynasty and get back before you can," Talon dared Salon as he gave him his hand to shake and seal the deal.

Kumori walked toward the shore with a rope slightly fastened around his shoulder. He spotted the small boat he had just purchased for his journey. He had made up his mind after speaking with Rez, he would find the Shadow Master and ask him to show all he knows. Kumori grew tired of his daily routine, he wanted something more interesting, and nothing spiked his interest more than learning the ways of the shadow.

He had just purchased a map of Terra and where the island was supposedly located. He had only left Pyra Isle once, and he was too young to remember any of the details. He was tempted to ask for assistance; however he viewed this as another training exercise.

He approached the boat and stared out at the vast blue sea, the shore was blackened from the volcanic ash that would occasionally fall, he watched the sun slowly move across the botched sky. Kumori grinned "I will find the Shape Shifter, no matter what gets in my way" He sat down in the dinghy fastening his things to the side with the rope he had brought, he then cut the line that held it tied to the dock and began his journey.

Solon stroked his chin in a mocking way. "I'll search for Zodia," he finally said with a small smile. "It's a smaller organization, so that makes the challenge more appealing. Besides, we need to split up our search parties so that we can find these places and take control faster. Double or nothing, then." Solon shook Talon's hand, a small twinkle in his eye.

Talon walked out to the courtyard. He had some planning to do before he set out. But mostly he wondered what was so dangerous about this organizations that it warranted seeking them out to destroy them. "Not my business. Though I am interested in this 'Dynasty'," he told himself as he headed to his room.
Not much was in here as most of his possessions had been bet away. He grabbed a small bag as he dumped all the clothes he could into it. He looked over to his door and saw his whip hanging on a small piece of the wall the he had stuck out himself. He went up and carefully picked it up, putting it in a holder that he had custom made to not get ripped by the blades. He looked around one more time to see if he had missed something and noticed a small piece of bread on his desk. He grabbed it and threw it in his mouth as he headed out the door. "My luck, it's stale."

Reina crossed her arms, then nodded up at a clock that stood against a wall to the side. "I don't think we have time, we probably never will," then she looked at Harver with a light grin. Talon yawned himself awake after a felt a violent wave hit the boat he was on. In his dream, he reminisced about how he came on this journey. He shook his head a little and looked out to the ocean to see a nice little storm was brewing. "Well, I sure hope I get there soon. But the better question is... WHERE THE HELL AM I?!" he asked himself. No one else was with him, so since he had slept for such a long time, he didn't know where he was. He jumped up to the top of the boat and looked at the sea ahead of him. Unfortunately, he saw land.
"Pyre island. I've gone too far," Talon realized as he felt a strange wind hit the back of his neck. He looked back to see a flaming ball heading straight for his boat. "NononononoNONONONONONONO!" Talon screamed as he jumped off the boat quickly. The ball hit it and immediately broke it in half. Gritting his teeth, Talon snapped his fingers, and in the next instant, a small gust of wind circled him, allowing him to float slowly in the air. He looked over to see where the ball had come from. A war ship from Pyre Island coming towards him.
Enraged, Talon drifted towards it, slowly losing altitude as he got closer, until he was floating right over the front of it. A man, the commanding officer of the deck, came forward. "Attacking an unarmed ship from the Wind Kingdom is a really quick way to get a bombardment, Mr. Hot-head!" Talon lectured him as many soldiers began to surround him. Talon finally landed and went face to face with the officer.
"Please, un-armed? We had reports from our systems that a second-generation was heading towards us. That's bad odds," the officer coolie told Talon. Weapons began to surround the two men.
Talon popped his neck a few times then looked back at the men. "What's bad odds are pointing those weapons at me. Now, I will ask you to provide me a ship and give me leave," Talon ordered him.
"Not happening. You see, we..." the officer began, but stopped as he choked on his own words. Around Talon, everyone began to gasp for breathe. A dark look flowed from Talon's eyes as the soldiers around him began to fall.
"What's the matter? Losing your oxygen? I tell you, you get quite a pop from this much air. Your lucky I don't have time for you. If I meet you again, I will kill you," Talon warned them as he used all the air in the surrounding atmosphere to blast himself off the ship. As he did, many of the soldiers were blasted off, and a small crater where he had been was in the ships deck.
Talon, however, was using his powers to allow the wind to continue carrying him. He made his way quickly towards the island, and finally let himself fall slowly in the outskirts of a town. "I'll need to find a way to supply another boat," Talon examined as he sulked his way into town, trying not to be noticed.

Just by lucky coincidence, Lucas happened to be in the town Talon was heading toward. He sat alone in the streets making little figures with some clay and writing in a small note pad.

Day 12,
So far, I have had no luck in finding someone belonging to the Dynasty. Or course, I've yet to actually ask people about that. People have been hospital to me so far and I have been well fed. I do not wish to have that change just because I ask them a question and anger them. As for entertainment, I have had nothing but this clay...yeah, not very exciting...

Harver smiled back. "And we begin to make progress. This is good; I get my fix of entertainment and we have a possibility of potentially overthrowing a huge organization in the process."

"Entertainment fix?" Reina laughed and headed for the door. "Sounds more like you're after an adrenaline rush. Believe me, I'd know." She opened the door and looked back at Harver. "For now though, just chill and hang here, 'kay. It won't take me long to get back, just gotta get some supplies for the road." Before she could get a reply, the door was closed, and she had ran off, back into town.

It's true that she needed to stock up on some things, but once she got them, she didn't head back to the base. Instead, she found herself on the rooftops again, in search of another person she had to hunt down. She spotted him in his yard with a few others, leading a secret meeting, just as her informants said he would be. There was no problem leaping from the roof behind her target and letting her blade sink into his back, guards poured in, leaving Reina with no choice but to fight them.

Once she had taken out most of the stronger opponents, the guards began to flee, screaming something about it being impossible to kill a monster. Reina made her way back into the allies thinking, 'Bull, I'm the one killing the monsters here...' But it really didn't matter to her at the moment. Although she could say that she won that fight, she didn't get out of it unharmed. She stumbled into the door of her base, then slammed it shut, clothes splattered with blood, a couple of gashes on her legs and a few mild burns on her arms.

"That definitely... could've gone better..." She slides down the wall until she's sitting on the ground.  'And it definitely could have been worse had I not learned how to use my fire.'

Kumori glanced around, he saw the blue sea in all directions with no land in sight. He noticed the waves getting slightly larger as he did. He had never been on the open sea like this, it was a new experience for him. He was enjoying the relaxation as the waves slowly rocked his small boat.

He noticed the sun beaming down as he layed and bathed in the suns rays. As he relaxed he thought about the training he would surely receive from the Shape Shifter. However he wished to have some other form of practice before hand to get ready.

He noticed a small island in the distance, he stood up and tried to get a better look. It seemed to be lush with plant life, even from the distance he could see the tree's and small patches of green all around. He had not packed enough to eat so he decided to stay there for the rest of the day.

As the boat rocked against the shore he slowly dragged it higher up so it would not be washed away. He turned and began to walk into the tree's.

Talon stormed through the city, knocking people out of his way. He was steaming. He needed to kill someone. Why didn't he just rid the world of the idiocy those soldiers had shown him? He kept going through the crowd until he felt soft matter surround his boots. He looked down to see clay squeezing from under his foot. Next to it was a man who had been messing with it. "I hate today," Talon muttered as he moved his foot from the clay and took the boot off. This was a special boot, and he felt the need to keep it clean. UNFORTUNATELY, he had lost all his stuff when the boat crashed.

"Yeah, I was," Reina glanced to the side, and looked at the floor. "I did, but I kinda got into another little fight with the guards," she laughed nervously, still debating on whether or not she should say why she was fighting, but quickly stopped when she felt pain shoot through her legs and a stinging sensation along her wrists. "There's medical kits in there," she pointed at the cabinets in the front room. "Can you go grab one please?"

"A little fight?" Harver scoffed as he walked over to get the medical kit from the cabinets. "You're even crazier than I first anticipated," he stated, bringing the kit back to Reina. "And I mean that in the most endearing way possible."

"Aw...there goes my city model." Said Lucas. He paid no attention to Talon's disgruntled attitude as he simply used his powers and removed the clay from the boot. He rolled it up into a ball and placed it into his bag that he kept tied around his waist.
"An earth element? So what, no more people are trying to get me?" Talon screamed as he jumped back from his 'opponent'.
Hey, my boot is clean!

"Why, thank you," Reina said with another light grin as she opened the medical kit, and pulled out a disinfectant solution. "You yourself have to be just as crazy seeing how long you've stuck around." She laughed and put the solution onto a cloth, and wiped at one of her leg wounds. The woman winced, but kept somewhat quiet as she cleaned up the cuts. 'Daaaammn, this mess buuurrrns!' Once all the dirt and blood is cleared away, she examines the gash more closely, hoping she wouldn't have to stitch it, but she'd probably have to anyways.

Lucas looked up at Talon. "...huh? Trying to get you?" He pushed the ground up beneath himself to help him stand. "Why are people after you? You seem pretty normal to me..."

"Oh my Gods, you're gullible! Listen, I need your help, for the good of all the kingdoms!" Talon told him as his arms flailed in the air to raise the tension.

"Wait a tick... You work for Dynasty. Sorry, but I wasn't sent to 'help' them. In fact, you just told an enemy you alliance," Talon told the man as he lifted himself in the air slightly. "You know, I must admit. You don't seem to be a normal elemental. You see, I've been bored and mad off lately. And what we have here is a rare opportunity for me to cut loose. So, you get to see how powerful I really am. Kudos if you get the reference!" Talon bellowed as he broke the fourth wall and flew at the man with incredible speed. Once close, he jumped high into the air.
"Don't take me for an idiot. That earth was a little too close for comfort. Though, I am ready now. BRING IT ON!"

...Damn. I knew asking around would be a stupid idea. I don't like the looks of this. Maybe it'd just be best to bolt. "You know...I'd rather not fight right now." He said as the ground beneath him began to part. "So if you excuse me, I'll be leaving now." With that, he disappears into the earth.

"Now that I think about it, I probably should have asked them where Dynasty was," Talon contemplated with himself as a group of guards began charging his way.
No time. Damn. I can't look for a boat now. Plan 2, fly. I probably won't make it far without using up a lot of energy, but it is necessary
Still floating, Talon turned his back to the guards and blasted off again in a random direction. Soon, not even the island he was on was visible.

Night was beginning to fall, and Talon couldn't fly much longer. Within his view was a small little island that looked safe to stay on. He slowed down and slowly floated to the ground. Once there, he immediately collapsed to the ground. He took many deep breathes as he surveyed his surroundings. Finally, he noticed it. A boat had been pulled up onto shore and the track it came from seemed fresh. The water hadn't evened the ground out completely yet because the high tide never came in.
"Great..." Talon said as he looked at the footprints that lead from the boat. "I guess it wouldn't hurt to say a friendly hello to whoever has this, and see if I can 'bargain' it away from them," Talon planned as he rested a few minutes longer to regain some of his strength, then walked into the tree line.

Kumori had only been walking for a few minutes, however he noticed the abundance of plant life. This island was blooming with colorful flowers, fruits and the like. However he had not seen one trace of wildlife, even the insects on the island seemed non-existent. He felt a strong breeze brush against his face, he turned around  back towards the shore however the tree's blocked his view.

"Hmph" he muttered as he continued his walk. He eventually got to a small clearing, he gathered a small amount of wood. And started a fire. He contemplated which he would rather do. Train or relax, he made the obvious choice and stood up. He began to make spirals of fire around him, as he pointed towards a small rock and shouted "Incendia Telum" The rock burst into flames, lighting the surrounding plant life as well. He quickly controlled the fire into a small ball and shot it at the rock, shattering it into molten shards.

Lucas tunnelled under the earth. He was planning on getting far enough so that other guy who wanted to fight him wouldn't find him. He began to go upwards and popped up out of the ground. "Hm, I seem to have gotten away from him...but where am I?" He looked around and was surrounded by trees.

((Shadow Master, Dynasty Leader))
(( HOLY FUCK WHAT HAS HAPPENED HERE. im gonna assume you guys havent actually talked to them yet. too lazy to read. also, would have gotten on here sooner but the last two times i tried to log in the place was down :| ))

He sat in a room surrounded by total darkness. It almost seemed to swirl around him and whisper as it crept and crawled around the room. The Shadow Master lived in solitude. His pupils never saw his face - and the few who attempted were crushed by his dark power. He sensed someone new approaching, and wondered lazily if they were going to be worth the wait.

The Dynasty Leader sat on a large, golden throne at his base. He already felt like a ruler of a small kingdom with his followers and was impatiently awaiting more recruits and more power. He had guards all around him, and he ordered one of them to fetch him a grape. Ah, he thought. This is the life. He smirked in gluttony. Despite having such special treatment, he looked tired and overworked with his unkempt black hair and the dark circles under his almond colored eyes.

((Of all the things to fetch... You go with grape? XD))

"Yeah, you're right," Reina sighed, her tone finally turning serious. "It sho' as hell ain't just gonna be a little fight after you assassinate a Dynasty member while he's in the middle of leading a meeting..." She started to dig through the medical kit, searching for what she'd need to stitch her leg up, but then stopped and looked up at Harver. "That's exactly what happened."

Harver put his palm to his face as he leaned against the wall of the base. "Really? That's your so called 'small fight'?" He asked bitterly. "I mean, I know you like to go on missions solo, but you should know your limits. At least go in with backup, or something..."

"Glad all of the side quests are gone. Now, lets get on with this... Where are they?" Talon asked himself. He looked around the island to see that it was quite protected with the small cliffs. But also a death trap.

"HELLO, EVIL PERSON COME TO DESTROY YOU GUYS!!! COME LEAD ME INTO YOUR HIDEOUT SO THAT I CAN BE INTERROGATED OR WHATEVER!"

"Believe me, this isn't even the worst of it..." Reana grunted slightly as she started to stitch her wound closed. "Something like that is considered small when you've been by yourself the whole time with the lack of anyone to turn to for back up. Guess next time I'll bring ya with if that's what you're gettin' at."

Kumori paused he listened carefully to the sound in the distance, it sounded as if someone was screaming wildly. Kumori began to carefully walk towards the source of the noise, he stood on top of a large cliff and noticed a man standing near the base. He could not make out his appearance from this angel.

He slowly scaled down the side of the cliff until he could get a good look on the man. He was wearing a silver uniform and had dark purple hair.

"Incendia Orbis"

As he said this a wall of flames appeared behind the man, they extended  100 meters wide and 10 meters tall. Kumori jumped to a small ledge on the face of the cliff and looked down at the man.

"Who are you?"

"Not just us," Harver said, an aura of confidence about him. "I'm sure we're not the only ones opposed to what's going on around here. We could gather up others with a similar causes, recruiting, if you will; then we'll be a force to be reckoned with, and you won't have to worry about going out alone."

Reina finished sewing her wound shut, then smiled. "True, we can't be the only ones that don't like how stuff's run. The only problem is actually finding people willing to speak out and act against it. Most of 'em are too afraid to go against our sad excuse of a government." She put the needle and thread down, closed the medical kit and started to stand. "I like the idea though, and we could start after I lay low for a bit."

(( because no leader is complete without someone feeding him grapes! that's taken right out of the official rulebook. ))

The Dynasty Leader could hear shouting outside of his base. With a sigh, he flicked his hand toward one of his men. This obviously meant that that man was the chosen one to investigate the sounds. The leader opened his mouth lazily as one of the other men dropped a grape into his mouth. A second man moved the leader's jaw up and down, while a third tickled his throat to force him to swallow it.

"Ah, another," the leader mumbled lazily.

As that was happening, the man chosen to investigate walked out of the base and began moving toward the noise. He paused and looked at one of the sentry men standing outside, who informed him that it seemed three men were standing outside, and one of them was definitely a master of the fire element. With an understanding nod, the man continued down, this time beckoning four other men who were chosen to stand guard come with him.

The five of them made their way down until they were about fifty yards away from the three men. "What brings you here, boy," the guard asked, looking at the man who had been shouting.

"I got sent by the blah blah blah, all your base are belong to them. Anyways, where is this base? Also, you are Dynasty? Just need to make sure. I would hate to be at the wrong place." Talon told him. He saw plenty of men behind the one talking to him, and all of them actually looked like they could take care of themselves. Truthfully, he liked that. To actually see men able to fight got him pumped a little. Better than all the small fry.

Reina used the wall and Harver's help to balance herself. "Yeah. I meant to head out tonight and go see someone who could help us, but that obviously ain't happening. We have to leave the city to get there, but there's no way they're letting anyone in or out." She then nodded towards the kitchen area. "We might as well eat while we're here."
