I got bored and took a pic of the only Custom machine I've made, and still use it:

I guess none of you have beaten any of the Missions on Very hard have you? You all suck :3
I was going to get this game.
But I heard it is very difficult. Like one of the most difficult games ever made.
The missions I can agree with. Hell, the whole game is hard to the average person.
But thats what makes it fun.

I only managed 1 mission >>
Beaten entire game:
All Story Missions VERY HARD (good gawd it was so darn hard! I beat Mission 7, F-Zero Grand Prix, by .027 seconds!)
Beat all Grand Prix's on very hard including Diamond Cup.
Sad to say all the AX characters suck except for Phoenix who for some odd reason OWNS.
And it was fun because it was so backbreakingly hard. More games need to be like this. COME ON YOU LEVEL 4 BIDOOFS CHALLENGE ME! *cookies to who names that reference!*

That one is actually relatively easy. There is a trick that lets you kill Goroh as the race starts so all you have to do is stay alive and finish and you win.

Oh please....like Nintendo would allow anyone to make stuff better than they could on their own system. Well, maybe if they slow the game down a little, they can have that many players.
But yeah, Nintendo saves the best servers for themselves, but they would at least give some good servers to a major franchise.

Again, Nintendo NEVER gives other companies good crap. Knowing them they'll be petty and think since Sega does it well they can do it a million times better.
GX is the best racing game I"ve ever played (beside shoddy VA, but hey, it's sega, what'd you expect?). I really hope Nintendo lets SEGA do well again...

Nintendo will probably make another F-Zero themselves and screw it up by making it slower and removing things.
Also, I'm curious.
Is F-Zero GX Contra difficult or Aquaman difficult?

Good.
I can take hard games, all they require is practice.
But when a game is hard because it has broken gameplay mechanics, that is when it sucks.
my user-made machine was a chartreuse Super-Wolf Z with eyes on the wings and blue flames on the tail. the pilot was usually Don whatever his name is, as the pilot you choose cannot race against you, and that helped me out quite a bit.
I didn't complete all of them on very hard... I beat...
#2, the Goroh race (this one was pretty easy IIRC)
#3, the casino race (was easy once I learned the course)
#5, the gang race (I think) (was stupid easy, as I always took out machines during races anyways)
#7, the grand prix (kill BS & BF at the beginning and the race is yours for the taking)
I don't think I did any others. I beat Hard on all of the rest of them, except for #1, which I never even really tried to complete. #4 was hell to complete even Hard, #6 I didn't even really try at, #8 I was always beaten at the last second, and #9 I always fell off of.
beat everything on master mode though, got the AX tracks. The grand prix races are really easy once you learn how to race properly, but it's the process of getting there that is the huge step.
I also came within a couple seconds of some WR times.
I need to go for the Missions again. One of the few that fustrate me is escaping the power plant. It makes me wish I had a turbo button on my controller, because that's what screws me us is having to press Y repeatedly,

There ARE a few GCN controllers that have a turbo button, but all the ones that I've seen that have one are very cheaply made.

That is one of the harder ones...because you have to be PERFECT to beat it. I don't know how many times I did it right except for the last one and messed up at the jump end of it. But I've done it. It's certainly possible. It just takes a lot of patience.

Can someone tell me more about the machine editing mode?
Because it looks like you can make some pretty cool things in it.
Basicailly, as you win cups and some of the harder mission, you unlock parts you buy to make a custom machine with. If you're first starting out.. I think you have none at all.
There''s 3 types, a Cockpit, a Body, and a Booster (Engine), and each of the 3 have ratings, much like the machines in the game already, from A to E. A General rule is that the higher the rater, the heavier the part is. If you're used to driving the heavier loads, then having better parts wont be much of a problem.

Hold X, then tap left or right. A really quick lazer spurt will surround your car and pretty much instant kill anything next to you. It's only a few frames on screen, so you need good timing, but it's a LIFESAVER in the max difficulty grand prix's. I think I took out 20 racers in one race and the only ones left for the worst guys so I easily came in first.

It's only a few frames on screen, so you need good timing, but it's a LIFESAVER in the max difficulty grand prix's. I think I took out 20 racers in one race and the only ones left for the worst guys so I easily came in first.
Isn't that the side attack? I don't remember it being called a laser attack.
Not the one where the car spins if that's what you're thinking off.
I can't remember what it's called, but a little lazer thingy flies around, so I call it the lazer attack

something like a thousandth of a second... I've won by that much too. :P
Yea, I beat Mission 7 Very Hard by about that much. I could never take out Blood Falcon for some odd reason.
Mission 10 was pretty easy on Very Hard....if you do the jump trick that is...
*earlier post*
yea, I agree that hte GP's are rather easy even on max difficulty. You can always take out the better racers with the super lazer trick.

The spin and side attacks do the same thing, bit its not a laser attack.
oh, that attack. didn't know it was called the super laser trick.
i took out 26 of 30 racers once on one of the ruby cup races :P

I just call it that cuz its basically a super lazer.
*goes back to records*
hey, I've actually taken out ALL racers during one race! My time was 1:07:23 cuz I won by default! ;D
Have any of you ever played or even seen F-Zero AX?
It actually had an entire cup that you unlocked by bringing your memory card to the arcade and transfering data to it. You could also play using your own custom machines.
Now the only way to unlock the cup is with an Action Replay, as there are only 14 units left in North America. Unless you live in California, Arizona, or Nevada, you'll have to cheat to get that extra content. ;)

There's one in an arcade in Henderson, which is near Las Vegas. There's also another one on The Strip inside the Luxor's arcade.
Like I said, it is super rare because they take forever to build and are huge and take up a lot of arcade space.

Well, they made more Deluxe cabinets than anything else, and that one has motion so you feel every turn you make. Those kinds of machines require lots of maintenance because of all the moving parts, so very few places have them.
The normal ones don't have the motion, and also lack some machines.
But still, I wonder how much SEGA/Nintendo/Namco made in the first place...
Also, Blaziken, please do, I want to see one of those machines.

I have plenty of ideas for tracks:
the shortest circle, endless loops, ze biggest drop ever, the longest course ever (uses the ENTIRE plot for the tracks).
Again, plz outsource to SEGA again, I'm sure they'd do it.

There's a good chance of that happening, I mean Nintendo is still making arcade games with Sega using the Triforce platform.

The trick is to boost off of the jump pads so you can completely cut corners. It takes a LOT of practice but when you get it down you beat the CPU's no problem.
I'm gonna get this game pretty soon.
You know what would be awesome? If they made another F-Zero arcade game, this one being a tie-in for F-Zero Wii, which is rumored to be called F-Zero Z.
It probably wouldn't be very much different though.

Personally, if they try adding anything to screw up the driving, it will get worse. Maybe a few new racers and a better story mode, as well as a track editor, and we'll be good.
If they soften up the game for the casual asses out there, it will most likely kill it for the hardcore gamers that can actually beat the missions on GX xD
Well, they are going to make it a little easier, that's to be expected in a Wii game.
I hope they allow support for a GCN controller or at least a Classic Controller.

Well, they might add more levels of difficulty (like very easy) and enable other (albeit more tedious) ways to get everything along with the traditional, very hard (and far less time consuming) ways to get everything. I also hope that you can get to use vehicles you made in GX, as I have a few who kick a** and take names (including my favorite, Sacred Cannon G-4). It rules, okay? I have taken every record I have and keep shredding them up with it. And I also tear up the competition.

If they soften up the game for the casual asses out there, it will most likely kill it for the hardcore gamers that can actually beat the missions on GX xD
Nintendo will find some way to f*** it up... If it isn't Mario, Zelda, Pokemon, or casual shovelware they couldn't care less...
They only seem to make good games when they aren't doing well...
Let's see how E3 is this year, then I will pass judgment. I would be happy with just a new Pilotwings.
How badly can they mess up F-Zero, anyway?
The same thing they do every messed up series pinky,
TRY TO CHANGE THE GAMEPLAY! *look at Star Fox AHEM*
At least they partially fixed it in Star Fox Command.
Watch them turn Pilotwings into a racing game that's linear instead of a free-flying game where you perform certain tasks at your own leisure.
Everything is linear nowadays...barely any exploration in Nintendo's stuff besides Metroid X_X;;
It's like they are taking a step backwards.
The only games these days that should be linear are puzzle games and some racing games.
The only racing game that wasn't linear was Diddy Kong Racing X_X;;
I understand having a structure, but good gawd at least let me walk around where I want. I miss Mario 64's exploration X_X:;;
I may sound like an idiot right now, but I liked Super Mario Sunshine better than Galaxy because it was less linear.
I hope the Pilotwings at E3 rumor is true, I love that franchise.

lolwut
exploration in METROID?
that hasn't been seen since MP2, debateably MP.
They can screw up F-Zero by kicking off the previous developers that made GX such a gem, by making it easy, by trying to modernize it (no tights, no 80's looks), by adding in items, by adding in more guard rails, by changing the music around, etc...
however, if they give us GX with online capabilities, I'll be fine. I'm tired of being blue shelled at midway through the last lap in Mario Kart.
As long as they don't put in rubberband AI like Mario Kart and have a track/machine editor as well as online, it will be good.
I have this game, but only played it like once. I need to get back into it. :P

I actually liked the fact that if I was in first I could stay in first without someone coming up randomly and hitting me. If it does happen, you'd have to be going slow or crashing a lot, and you get more than 1 machine, you'll get about 5 or 6 at once.

I can't tell you how many times I was in first, I was just rounding the last corner, and I got hit with a Blue Shell which made me finish in like 4th place.

That's what I like about F-Zero. If you are in first place, the only way you can get out of first place is if you go really slow or are reckless.

I said that already :3
I wonder if there will be an F-Zero on the DS and Wii....

same. It's really disgusting, and horrible programming.
what level was it... the DK Double Dash one. I had a gigantic lead heading into the last lap (as in, about a quarter of the track length).
halfway done the map, I'm heading by that ravine. blue shell, fall into the pit.
still have a fair lead.
red shell, red shell, red shell.
I'm at the bridge now.
blue shell, bumped off.
getting back on the end of the bridge.
bullet bill -> off the bridge. picked back up, the race ends as im in last. completely ruins any chance at a star, or any reasonable placement in Lightning Cup, in which I was getting 1st place consistently to that point.
it's just sick. I don't know why they program that in. If you're in first by a large margin, you obviously deserve to be there.
exactly why I love F-Zero. You generally deserve your placing in the race. If you're doing mediocre, it's because you haven't pulled out all the stops. If you're in last, it's because you haven't been nearly aggressive enough. If you die, you were a fool, or you didn't manage to avoid the actually pretty humanlike AI.
If you're first, you stay there. no handicaps.

that's nothing, I was watching my cousin play, it was on Mario Kart Wii, DK Raceway (the 64 one) Toadette missed the jump, got stuck in the grass, got dropped on the track beneath the jump, and was about half the course behind, somehow got in first by about three seconds

You reallly can't have Mario Kart without the items, but in MKWii they did go too far...
I was blue shelled 5 times in one race...
Rare items should be RARE.
You know what would be even better?
An option to turn certain items off, like in Brawl.
I pray that the new F-Zero doesn't have items or something....
If it has items, the only things I coukd see would be a Energy boost and a shield.
F-Zero really has no need for items in my opinion....
the big issue i have with blue shells though, is that they don't help the person that uses them.
think about it.
if you're in a low enough place to get a blue shell, 99% of the time, using it won't help you a bit. yes, the first place person gets taken down. then what? second place takes their place, and you don't go up any places whatsoever.
which is why they were good in the N64 version. everyone gets hit, you actually get a chance to advance places, and they don't show up very often.
