Will any SD card work? or it has to be a Wii SD card?

It can be any sd card as long as it is 2 gigs or less.

I think I am going to get this now. I have an extra SD card lying around.
Just one last question:
Is there a chance that this could mess up my Wii the next time I try to download a Wii system update?

Well when the update comes out, I would suggest looking at the usb gecko forums and see what it does, however it most likely won't do anything.
