Nope, Gyarados was originally just Water type, then when G/S came out and introduced Dual typing and Dragon types he was a Water/Dragon. Like how Bulbasaur was just Grass type in R/G/Y.

Um... I just checked Bulbapedia, Serebii, Smogon, Wikipedia, Pojo, and a variety of random sites on Google, and they all agree that even in the oldest games, Bulbasaur was Grass/Poison and Gyarados was Water/Flying. Oh, and Dragon has always been around too.

Houndeath sounds too obvious and it doesn't sound catchy at all to me.

And maybe #666 can be demonic, and if it's a legendary, Houndoom is like it's minion, not a minion, but... hard to explain my meaning, but a Houndoom/Houndour would be a big part of the story if it were like that.

Well, we're only 107 away, and the lowest number a gen has ever added was 100 in 2nd gen, so I'd say we are almost guaranteed to break 600 in 5th gen.
