Title: So...I wanna see if my PC can run The Orange Box.
Post by: Java on August 04, 2008, 11:10:51 PM
I played Portal and Team Fortress 2 at my brother's house on his 360 and I was addicted to them.

Now, since I don't have a 360, I'd like to see if I can get it gor my PC.

Problem is, I don't know where to look to see if my PC meets the System Requirements.
Can anyone help me?

Systemrequirementslab.com. Go there. Or go to Steampowered.com and read the specs, then run dxdiag and see if you can handle it.

Oh, the PC version is 10x better than the console one.

I may have misspelled something up there. Anyway, if your computer was built with XP and it's a Desktop it should be able to run it.

Also. Go to Steampowered.com and find the page for The Orange Box. Look at the requirements then press Start and find the run option. A box should pop up. Type dxdiag in that box and read your specs from the program that starts and see if yo can run it.

Scroll down to Half-Life 2 Orange Box. If you pass on running the Orange Box engine, you can run any other Valve game to date.

You won't be able to play any game with that card. You don't have Pixel Shader and you only have DX8. Orange Box will run on DX8, but it looks like crap.

I'm guessing that means I would have to buy a better one?

Yeah. Google CPUZ and download that, then on the Mainboard page, tell me what the version thing at the bottom says.

If it says PCI-Express I recommend this one to you (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814136014)

Mehh...I really didn't want to buy anything extra.

I'm not into PC gaming and I don't really wanna spend so much for one game.

Still...

As much as I would have wanted to, it's not worth the trouble for me.

I'm really not even into PC gaming.
