Title: NSFCD and You
Post by: Macawmoses on March 08, 2010, 11:13:13 PM
Read this, please. Further note, this is a very serious thread. Please treat it as such.

We're really glad you are all a part of this community. To some of you, this is just a place you haphazardly visit. To others yet, this is your home. NSFCD really has become a family since our beginning in 2007. With a family comes ups and downs; drama, memories, laughs, and loss.

But the best part of this site is the level we tend to know one another. We see pictures of many of our users, and Power Down offers unique opportunities to reveal even more about yourself (as does #nsider). With this, though, comes the revelations that bring us closer together...those that are darker and drearier.

Lately, we've seen a lot of talk of depression and suicide from our users. That's what this is about. As a community, this discussion is great. We want to be there for one another. But I want to make one thing perfectly clear - if we have any inclination that you are serious about suicide, we will alert your ISP. One user is currently under review as we speak, and their ISP has been alerted.

This brings up two points:

1. If you joke about it, and it comes off as serious, you will be in serious poop. We aren't fooling around at this point. We take the welfare of you guys seriously.

2. We're here to talk. Silver and I are both willing to listen to any issues you have and talk them out between the lot of us. We will proactively speak with you about things if you reach out to us. Sometimes, though, we will be forced to go beyond that and do as I mentioned above.

I want to re-iterate that this is not an issue with one user. Right now, I'd put three or four users on the list of "scaring me." These users will be talked to in private in the near future about what we can do to help.

If you believe one of your friends may be suicidal, please alert the administration. If you know them in real life, you are advised to seek the help of parents, teachers, counselors, clergy, or police.

This website has some information on Myths and Facts about suicide. I strongly suggest reading this over to gain a better awareness of what it is and isn't. (http://www.suicideinformation.cmha.ca/bins/site_page.asp?cid=284-1561-1564&lang=1)

I realize we're not an uber serious site. As does Silver. Both of us are genuinely concerned. For the rest of March we will be treating this as an "awareness" month - after all, I've both been touched by suicide, and as some of you may know, mere seconds away from doing it myself. Suicide is serious.

Thank you for reading this guys, and being a part of our great community. It means a lot. In case you missed out, we are giving away a copy of either Pokemon Heart Gold or Pokemon Heart Silver (http://nsfcd.com/index.php?topic=34904.0). Be sure to check the contest out!

Have a great week.

As Mack said, this is a serious topic. I know it doesn't affect the majority of you, but I'm aware that it affects some. Just remember, whatever you do on here ultimately comes back to the administration, namely me. As the proprietor of the site, if one of my users committed suicide, I would be held responsible for not doing something about it. I don't know if any legal action would be taken against me or the site, but I really don't want to have to find out. It sounds corny, but I really do care deeply about each and every one of you, and I would feel guilty if anything ever did happen. Just keep all this in mind before you do anything drastic.

It's never a good thing when you have to see people go through periods in their lives when they believe that suicide is the answer. I've had to stop my cousin from doing it, it's not a nice feeling.

I don't know if any of you have heard the saying "Suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem"

Times change, feelings change, but death is forever.

I think this is a good idea. Personally, I'd never commit suicide and I don't want to see any of you dying by your own hands, either. Whether I like any of you or not, I don't want you guys to die <3.

I hope I'm not included in that three or four. I haven't cut in weeks and feel generally good about myself for now. <3

Don't worry, guys. I promise not to go anywhere.

Also I'd like to say that I'm open to advice myself as well. I'm probably not near as good as it than the others here but If you're seriously thinking about quitting your life then you have a lot to rethink. Really, even If you are antisocial, you're still not being chased by the cops.

But in any case I agree with this thread even through I've only seen depression in the confession thread.

but seriously speaking I know what you mean by.

Seeing depression turn into thought of suicide is very sad to see. I would never commit suicide, but to see a person you know having thoughts of suicide is very sad.

Ok, I may haven't told anyone here but i have lost a close friend with his parents in a deadly car crash a couple years ago and I crumbled from it. It was an accident not suicide, but to lose someone by any kind of death is a terrible tragedy. I don't want to experience something like this again but through a forum.

If you need help, just MSN me (MSN info on the left <_<). Best thing is that you have people that care about you.

If you guys need anyone to talk to, IM me through AIM.  I've been through this.  There is a better way out.  For me, turns out I needed people that care about me to hear what I have to say and how how I was feeling.  That, and the right medication prescribed by a professional.

If you'd like to hear the full story, feel free to PM me.

You have all of us at NSFCD to talk to, or your friends and family. Sometimes it's easier to confess stuff when there's a computer screen blocking you from the other person - but then again there is always Skype and ooVoo. But yeah, I'll always make time to listen. Unless you want a guy's perspective. Then you basically have everyone else to help you with that.

I'll be honest, I won't help you if you need it, but you can vent PM me to complain about life and I won't respond nor mention it to anyone, sometimes venting helps, just make sure you tell me that's what you're doing.

So much caring in this thread.

It makes me sick.

Not really though, it actually warms my heart.

I grew up with a friend who had consistent suicidal thoughts and it scared me to death, I talked her out of it and got her help, and she's been one of my closest friends since.

I've never been a cutter, but there was one point in my life where I almost did something stupid. I didn't, and I'm glad I didn't. I'll never have that thought again. That said, if anyone ever needs to vent I'm always all ears... or all eyes, since I'm reading.

I understand the extent of suicide.  Hell, I've had such thoughts in the past (those ARE long gone.  I value life too much anymore), and understand that you're probably going through difficult times.  I am a nice guy, and am more than glad to help n.n

If you want to IM me, just add me.  red7js@yahoo.com  (warning, it may only work with MSN...)

Also, I know someone who's also going into the field of psychology, so I may have him help me, because I'm not exactly an expert at it.  And he's a nice guy too n.n

So, feel free to contact me at anytime, because I'd hate to know that a user here committed suicide ;_________;

I'll be honest here, there was a time when I though suicide was the only option left. Then I over-thought it, and more often than not I'm glad I did. After all, if I died, I'd never get to meet such grand people as I have in the five years in the aftermath. It still haunts me from time to time, but I always have an open ear, one that's not part of my head, and that's important to have. If you're depressed, the last thing you want to do is withdraw into yourself, I know from experience. If you need an ear to bend, talk to me. I'm always willing to listen to anyone, and who knows? Maybe someday you can return the favour to someone. Talking can only help, really. And no matter what you tell me, I'll never pass judgments. It would be extremely hypocritical of me to do so.

A lot of the time, claims of suicide are just cries for attention. Unless you're adamant about natural selection it's probably best they get the attention I guess. Death isn't exactly pleasant.

Dudes, suicide is completely bad and stuff.  You only have one chance on this world, just because you got the short end of the stick for a time dosnt mean it's worth ending your one chance now.  Believe it or not, bu tmost everyone here is still at the very beginnig of their lives, what's the point in ending it when you've got years of good times ahead of you?

I'll talk to anybody, send me a PM.

Even though I just joined the site, I'm here for anyone who is willing to talk.  I've had appropriate classes for this as well and I've gone through this process time and time again.  I have depression and it's been untreated for a long, long time.  I even had a date to kill myself (January 20th, 2010 fyi, my 20th birthday) and I set that date around 4-5 years ago.  I've had depression ever since I can remember.  I still have it.  A day doesn't pass by that I don't think about it.  I'm a very sensitive guy and I find that compliments to me hurt really bad because I'm conditioned not to believe anyone.  Even if you mean it, don't compliment me.  Just letting you know.  You see when I get mad the worst I do is hit myself, yell, and cry.  About a year and a half ago, I was in a online relationship and the gal didn't understand that she was hurting me.  At one point I even stabbed myself in the leg.  But I broke up with her a couple months later and I felt free.  I felt better.  Didn't mean that I didn't think about killing myself.  Last month I even tried to kill myself as well when I found out that the gal that I really loved was (is) dating one of my friends.  That almost sent me over the edge of a bridge.  It was really tough to get over that.  I had friends to help me out though.  And I have been through therapy for a while.  Ironically though my last therapy session was the day that I found out that my ex and my friend were going out.  I even take anti-depressants now, even though I don't think they are doing much but I haven't felt depressed lately so they must be.

Anyway, I'm always here to talk with you guys.  I may joke around quite a bit but I am a very serious guy when I need to be.  Fact is, my purpose in life is to help people out.  That's what I'm here for.  I would do anything for anyone, even you guys.  I would even give my life for someone.  Contact me via PM or MSN at relichris@hotmail.com.  I also have Facebook if you would like that, just PM me.

Holy poop, all of you are over emotional faggots.

Night, your life sucked five years ago because you're still the shutterbug unlikeable vagina cleaning device that you are today.

Kianglo, you cut because you want attention, not because you're going through anything profound in your life. Go be uninteresting for the rest of your life, blood won't really change much of that.

Reli, I'd say something about you but idrgaf and your wall of text was tl;dr outside of the stabbing thing. but no one really cares enough to give you a compliment and then think "BUT I DIDN'T MEAN IT", stop trying to get sympathy from people who don't care about your internal struggle to accept something positive about yourself because you want someone else to affirm it.

Generally, you're all failures if you think that you've been through anything worth killing yourself over. The world moves on without the weight of your "struggles", and I'm darn sure your desk will be filled come next semester. The world won't give a intercourse  if you don't, so don't bother.

I actually agree with this guy. You KIDS are way too young to even be thinking about this poop. If you think you have been through nearly enough to even contemplate suicide, then you are one selfish poop hole.

It may be a little harsh, but people so young, with everything to live for throwing it all away because you are a little depressed over something in your life pisses me off. There are always people wose off than you, MUCH, MUCH worse. Yet because you are lazy and choose not to go out (hence why you are fat and have no friends), you kill yourself.

I've had my bad times, family & friends dying, bullying, and just generally some big let downs. But that's life, there is good and bad. During the bad, just pick yourself up and keep moving, don't sit there and mope about it or you will stay in that place and be depressed and not give yourself the chance to see the good. Basically, don't be a vagina-y and think you are worse off than anybody else because of some personal problems, pick yourself up and keep moving, live your life and everything will fall into place. I am a big believer in life is what you make it, so try to not make it even harder on yourself.
