In all my time of using the internet, I've never gotten one. But I constantly hear (No, not just on here) about people getting spyware and viruses.
Are people really that stupid?
I got a virus, maybe a hacker on my old computer.
it had non-genuine windows, and i used it to look for porn. lol
but the computer was free, so whatever.

I do that and still haven't gotten one.
I think it has to do with alot of sites, like funnygames.biz i bet just playing there games will give you a virus/spy/add ware

Ask my pervy brother about that. I just did a computer scan today and we had some virus! I got rid of it and checked to see where it came from and it came from- nvm, you don't want to know...
If people were smart enough to run virus scans every once in a while, they wouldn't get them.
Oh, and downloading free porn = Multiple viruses.
By either having crappy anti-virus (AVG lol) or crappy anti-spyware (Windows Defender rofl).

by not maintaining a PC...no firewall, no anti spyware and no anti virus, means infected. Since PC's don't come with those things (besides for a poopty Windows firewall) inexperienced users are exposed to all sorts of crap.
As long as you have a brain, it's downright hard to get viruses.
I have virus protection (AVG lol go die silverhawk :|), but it does me no real good. Never catches anything anyway. If you're using Firefox, you're fairly safe from any kind of malware you could get from visiting a webpage.
Beyond that, all you need to worry about is when you download a file yourself. You can still run an infected file you may download for some reason or another, but as long as you're smart about where you download from, that's hardly an issue. If not, that's where anti-virus protection comes in.
I haven't had a virus in years. Not since I stared using Firefox. It's when computer idiots get around these things that you get viruses.

I know all this from experience. My dad is an absolute moron when it comes to computers. He had a computer some years ago. I promise you, I don't think I've ever seen something loaded with so much crap before. He must be the only person to choose yes every single time he gets a popup about downloading, installing, or running anything at all.
And the hilarious part, he blamed it on me. Even though he got unbelievable amounts of crap from that, various porn sites, and even Bonzi Buddy, it was somehow not his fault. He had to take it in to have the hard drive wiped three times in the period of about 6 months. To make it worse, he actually believes that anyone has to do that.
It's a sad, sad thing.
