So, there's this thing:

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/ouya/ouya-a-new-kind-of-video-game-console

Android Tegra 3 powered, 1 GB of RAM,  with a bunch of games, designed for launch next year. Every game released for it must include a free to play demo.

I just hope that it doesn't have too many microtransactions, and that it actually gets real support. I wonder how much it will get with the power it has. But for $99, should be interesting to see how I turns out. I probably should fund it that much, even if they already have met their goal in less than 24 hours.

Looks pretty sweet; I may pick it up if it gets enough support from both indies and 3rd party regulars.

That controller though... those buttons don't have anything to distinguish them but color! It's quite unsettling.

It's not that hard to memorize button placement, but it would have been better if the buttons were a solid color instead of a ring of the color. Probably would have messed up the design choices.

Though since they are encouraging open software/hardware, I doubt that you'll be stuck with the controller if you don't like it.

The console is apparently roughly the size of a Rubik's Cube. 8 GB of storage, but you can add as much as you want with USB. Here's what the Tegra 3 can do:

I didn't say it would be difficult (heck, they're the same colors as the 360 buttons), it just looks a bit weird.

This is really cool, actually. I'll probably wait for a subsequent shipment after the initial one, and if the price stays what they claim, I might just buy it.
I dunno hao 2 put imgs heer :(

Being open source, I doubt this thing will be out 24 hours before someone makes a 360 controller work with it.

As long as this thing has usb ports, wired 360 controllers will probably work out of the box. support is built into the linux kernel in the latest versions of android.

So, now this thing will support the cloud gaming service OnLive.

Adds a ton of games it can play in addition to the ones announced for it.

This just made it a lot more interesting for me. I'll still give it a bit though. If they can wow me with one more thing, then I'm pledging.

That is a lot of money pledged

Especially for something that could just as easily suck as it could be a good product.

Viewtifulboy

I strongly doubt that thing will have the power or game library as the systems that actually matter.

Well it's probably a great emulator box.

Whatever that means.
