Ge the intercourse out.
The software that's worth getting.
My first thought is Ratchet and Clank Future. <3 Insomniac.

Hell, even I want that :(
The 3 awesome games out for the PS3 right now:
Resistance:Fall of Man
Virtua Fighter 5
Warhawk
Those are the only worthwhile games on the system so far.
talk about the different versions as well. 60GB one is worth for better backwards compatibility.
You could talk about the pros and cons of its online capabilities. How its online matches up to other competitors.

I have a PS2, so I'm not worried about it anyway, and it doesn't need to be be extremley detailed, i'm lazy >.>

Online is free, so it doesn't count...
Wait, that adds to the value.
In all seriousness it is indeed worth it, however if you just want it for one of its features then no, but if you want more than just 1 it will be.
It's worth it for a Blu Ray player. Not a game system imo.
My two cents *walks away*

You need to mention the good games that are out now. (see my previous post) Also, what games will come out.
IMHO, its not worth getting right now, considering how it only has like, 12 exclusives, and the rest you can get on the xbox 360.
if you could write the essay in a year or two, you could make a great argument about how its software is great.
However, a few of the anticipated exclusives were just interactive movies. looked incredible, yes, but got mediocre reviews all around.
and since you'll probby need official reviews, you cant go around quoting gamers' viewpoints.
$500 for an HDMI 1.3 Blu-Ray player is decent if you want next-gen disc capability, regardless of what else the device does.

Games weren't one of my essay's focal points anyway.

That's great.
If you ask me, it all depends on what you want. There's a bunch of extra features, such as the ability to run Linux, but I don't think a normal person would do that.

You can add the online is free >_> saving 50$ a year
its completely worth the money if you want a blu-ray player. thats the argument you could make. the PS3 is alot of stuff packed into a cheap price. 499 USD is incredibly cheap if you consider whats all packed in there.
Sorry. I only like Nintendo products. So Im with the wii.
thats not what the topic is about... for all we know, the guy hates the PS3, but he is writing an essay on why it's worth the money, which it is. o_O
