Spike TV will only have coverage on Monday and Tuesday, while G4TV will have coverage every day. However, G4 will not air Nintendo's conference at all.
In addition, IGN will have an XBL app which can be used to watch all of the conferences.
Of course, the usual sites will all have live internet streams.
Spike? Will they have ALL of E3, or just the conferences? Also, will G4 be doing the coverage again this year?
Anyways, E3 wishlist (regardless of whether or not it's confirmed already to be there):
Nintendo
- Word on SSBU and SSB3D (I don't expect a trailer, just say something)
- Pikmin 3
- NSMB Mii using actual Wii U graphics (the demo thing last year kinda looked like a Wii game)
- Official word on Star Fox/Metroid crossover, for or against
- Announcement (trailer or otherwise) for future F-Zero and Star Fox titles
- DK 64; remake, sequel, freaking VC port, GIVE US ANYTHING
- Luigi's Mansion 2
- Wii U in official action on stage, not little side tech demos or obscure trailers
- Kirby's 20th anniversary
- Paper Mario 3D
- Pokemon Black/White 2 [release date]
Sony
- Playstation All-Star Battle Royale
- Sly 4
- The Last Guardian (or is that even still a thing?)
- Ratchet and Clank HD Trilogy
Microsoft
- Halo 4
Ubisoft
- Rayman Legends
- Assassin's Creed III
- Caffeine-free
Miscellaneous
- Lego Batman 2 (it's supposed to be OPEN WORLD GOTHAM, which would be sweet for a DC fan like me)
- Transformers: Fall of Cybertron
Spike should have everything. I don't know what the deal with G4 is, especially since they lost Kevin and Adam. That only really leaves Morgan. Do you really want to have to deal with her practically alone though? Granted, Spike's Microsoft hard-on will be pretty annoying as well.
Also, how did you forget God of War Ascension and NSMB2?
when everything is sequels its pretty easy to lose a few
Never played any God of Wars or NSMB1, although I guess NSMB2 might catch my interest.

Really? Because I do remember seeing Nintendo's E3 conference last year. Maybe I just didn't have school that day or something. But I could have sworn it was later in the day.

You may be right.... I just can't figure out how I was able to watch it live.
Unless I didn't actually see it. Maybe I didn't, even. I don't remember things from a year ago, sadly enough.
It'll be recorded on Nintendo's E3 site anyway.
Don't you care that you're going to miss Microsoft conference for the same reason? :p
I have no real expectations for Nintendo this year. They usually have great conferences, except for their 2008 one of course.
Pikmin 3 and Smash seem obvious, though an F-Zero or Star Fox would be awesome.
nintendo's had one good conference since the release of the wii (im thinking it was 2010 could be wrong though)

Yeah. At most we'll hear a brief mention of it. Hopefully a teaser of some kind.
Nintendo made a Wii U Facebook page. Link in OP.
What I plan to hear from each conference:
Microsoft: "Erm, yeah, we're working on the next Xbox, but no way it's coming out this year so... Halo 4! And...more first person shooters."
EA: "Make MOAR generic sports and shooting games!"
Sony: "Someone please buy the Vita! PLEASE!? Oh, and here are some good, interesting games for the PS3 that I'm sure everyone will like, but please buy a Vita!"
Ubisoft: No clue, they're kind of a wild card every year.
Nintendo: "So yeah, here's the WiiU. We're gonna TRY with the internet stuff, but not very hard in terms of gameplay. We mean make it easier for you to give us your money...digitally. Here's tons more Mario and Pokemon. Oh, and Pikmin 3 I guess, since we promised it. But the rest you'll have to wait til later because we want to make money out of the gate, and apparently lack of Mario caused the 3DS bad launch, not it's overpricedness."
Probably gonna be wrong on a lot of things, but pre-show predictions are always kind of silly.

Perfect. I don't think I even need to watch theirs now.
I just remembered how horrible the Microsoft conferences are. Why do they demonstrate Kinect so much when no one in attendance or watching it cares about it? I guess it would be five minutes long without it, but at least Nintendo realized that something like the Vitality Sensor doesn't really fit with E3.
because microsoft wants you to care about it. they dont need to show halo to sell halo. this is not complicated.
Only a few Kinect games are good, the technology behind it is more interesting than anything developers put out for the most part.
I always joke about Nintendo releasing a new Urban Champion game, which I thought was impossible, but they did release a 3D Classics version of it, so it's always hard to get a feel for what they have planned.
Anything Kinect does benefits humanity more than it will ever hope to benefit video games.
I guess Microsoft should totally stick to computers without the games.
Nintendo is holding a Pre-E3 Nintendo Direct tomorrow at 3:00 PM PDT/6:00 PM EDT. The focus will be the Wii U concept/hardware. Click the link to their E3 site in the OP and go to Nintendo's Twitter page for more info.

Okay, but you also think the conference itself will suck. :P You really need to work on that extreme pessimism of yours.
The main reason they would bother doing this is to show off the final hardware so that EA and Ubisoft can show trailers and onstage demos of Wii U games at their conferences with the updated controller.

The post about everything sucking was mostly me joking. I'm sure Nintendo will do just fine, I just don't see the point of a Pre-E3 presentation when, at best, we'll just see the WiiU hardware a bit, when in all likelihood we've already seen good chunks of it with the slightly altered controller and all that.
Wii U Pro Controller confirmed - basically an xbox controller for the Wii U but the right joystick is in a terrible position.
Also NFC scanner, basically Skylanders interface built into the touchscreen pad.
Also video chat. And message boards. Wii U = Social Networking.
I want that pro controller.
Pro controller = intercourse ing finally Nintendo. Just give us the option to use a decent controller and we'll be happy. yeesh.
The rest I couldnt' care less about. What's that? You have a social network? Don't care, all my friends are on facebook and the like. What's that? sucky hipster players can ask for help on the network? It's called Gamefaqs, where have you been the last 15 years? Oh, a browser you say? Yeah, if the WiiU is online, then you no doubt have a computer that's all kinds of better for browsing.
So yeah, that happened I guess.... just waiting on the games now.
Pro Controller has the right stick in a weird place, but I don't care. It's going to be so awesome.
I'm surprised they're going to do something with mobile phones. Didn't expect that.
BTW, it's important to notice how the button placement in both controllers is the same (except for the screen, obviously). I'm guessing both have the same placement to avoid confusion if the people happened to change between the two frequently.

Did you even read the second half of my post?
Also, you missed a HUGE part of the picture, guys. This social stuff confirms a real account system. Now all we need to hear is that there won't be friend codes and Nintendo has modern online!
Yes, but we pretty much already knew they'd go to an account system. They'd be dead before even setting off if they tried to do Friend Codes again. That's not all that surprising. It'd be shocking if they DIDN'T do it.
So yeah, it's important, but it was expected so I'm not exactly bouncing off the walls.
I was about to say something similar to that. HD graphics, social accounts and unrestricted analog sticks? Welcome to everyone else's 2006, Nintendo.
I do wonder what they have in store for Tuesday.

Games. Lots of games. And since that's the only thing you care about it seems, that should make you happy.
Speaking of which, you forgot to complain about the NSMB art style, Nayr. :P

Could do with having ABXY and the right stick switched, but I'm not playing an XBox.
In other words, I'm absolutely LOVING this new controller.
Me too, that's my only complaint, but I'm sure we'll get used to it.
At least the A button isn't located down below.
I'm loving that they're showing black consoles/controllers. Everything Wii at E3 2006 was white, and the only launch color was white. That's not the case this time, so I'm very hopeful that a black SKU will be available at launch.
Also, the console is the same size. If you were hoping for a built-in HDD, too bad.
I'm starting to get the feeling that we're going to get our minds blown on Tuesday. They did a pre-conference presentation to show off a ton of stuff that could have been introduced at the show... But it can't just be to settle us in. It's like they wanted to get it all out of the way, and from the way they're talking it isn't for 3ds stuff. So, the show will probably be almost entirely games... Except Nintendo isn't one to devote such a long period of stage time to third parties when they have their own things that need showing.g off. So far I had been thinking we'll see a couple 1st party titles, but now I get the feeling we're gonna see something along the lines of the extensive 3ds introduction (even though they won't be available at launch).
Yeah, everything is pointing to a intercourse ton of games being announced. It's going to be amazing. I suggest you keep an extra pair of pants nearby.
Well, except for Nayr and Zeph of course.
I'd normally guess another retro revival, but what Nintendo franchise hasn't been revived by this point?
I have no idea what to expect, but there was a rumor of a Zelda HD collection.
Oh, I'm beyond looking forward to the games on Tuesday.
I Just find the network stuff pointless, since it's all so utterly pointless with little devices called computers, which will probably do all that but only faster. I'd rather see a full online GAMING service, not a bunch of stuff either every device can do, or a bunch of stuff no one will care about.
this controller is literally perfect for first person shooters and since thats 90% of the market good job nintendo.
of course for everything else switching the stick and buttons is a terrible idea.

At the same time, Nintendo actually making the Pro controller, turning the sliders into sticks, the black console/controllers, and putting so much work into online functionality is an indication that they're listening to fans and/or third-parties. When you look at the big picture, you can see that this is a big deal and represents a big change for Nintendo. From the looks of things, the only area where this console will be lacking is graphics, and even that won't matter as much as it did this gen if Wii U sells well enough in its first year that third-parties are forced to think twice about abandoning it.

I'm pretty sure Mother's creator said the series was over. I'd just like the trilogy to be imported on a collector's disc or downloadable or something.
Also, zeph said it was good for shooters specifically, and I think the more comfortable right stick position would in fact help with those.
Anyways, while Star Fox and F-Zero need to come back ASAP, if they revive a really old game like Kid Icarus, I want either Ice Climbers or The Mysterious Murasame Castle. Also, I think ROB should start popping up in a whole bunch of random games like he did with Mario Mart DS and Brawl.
New rumored Wii U line up includes a Zelda Gamecube HD trilogy, Kingdom Hearts super collection, a new Wave Race made by Retro, a new Nintendo ip, and more:
New Super Mario World - Nintendo
Pikmin 3 - Nintendo
Anguish Souls - Nintendo
The Legend of Zelda: HD Tripack (Wind Waker, Twilight Princess, Four Swords Adventures) - Greezo
Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 - Konami
Metal Gear Solid: HD Collection (Twin Snakes, Sons of Liberty, Guns of the Patriots) - Konami
Resident Evil 6 - Capcom
Tekken 7 - Namco Bandai
Kingdom Hearts: Remembrance Collection (Kingdom Hearts, Kingdom Hearts 2, Birth by Sleep) - Square Enix
Assassin's Creed 3 - Ubisoft
Final Fantasy Racing - Square Enix
Dead Space 3 - EA
Mirror's Edge 2 - EA
Star Wave Race: Evolution - Retro Studios
Nintendogs + cats 2 - Nintendo
PES 2013 - Konami
TOMB RAIDER - Crystal Dinamics
Rayman Legends - Ubisoft
so remakes sequels and one new game
So how about that Microsoft press conference?
Not as much Kinect as I thought, but so much pointless stuff. Look, we've got MORE FPSs! Look, we've got MORE generic sports sims! Look, more streaming content you get online anyway! Oh, and the biggest joke of all, Internet Explorer.
Pathetic Microsoft, absolutely pathetic.
Matt and Trey stole the show. Not only did South Park have the only interesting trailer, but I loved how they just laughed at Microsoft's suckiness right on stage during the conference.
I'm surprised they would even show up, does that South Park RPG look any good?
All of the video apps companies have don't really appeal to me, mainly because there are so many other ways to do it. Focusing on it just seems like a way to admit that you really don't have what matters.
Who would ever use a console web browser extensively when you have a PC? Much less using IE?
Trey and Matt are hilarious live.
But yeah, the last two years have been god awful. IF all you care about is FPS's, I guess it was ok, but it's all the same poop that's already on the Xbox a million times over. And the streaming stuff is pointless, PC's are better equipped to handle that anyway. Besides, IE is the worst ever. Microsoft MUST be aware of how much of a joke that must be.

Well, EA sucked balls. MORE generic first person shooters. MORE pointless sports games that change absolutely nothing every year, and basically a massive yawn fest. So EA is just releasing the same games they release every year.

Nope, just some annoying person backstage and totally isn't scripted horribly.
So, Rayman Legends looks amazing and ZombiU is a stupid title to yet another generic zombie game. With all of this zombie stuff in popular media, I've actually heard that some people believe zombies as shown in fiction could be real.
That trailer for ZombiU was disturbing, would have been better if they had kept the original concept of making it intentionally cheesy instead of just plain cliche.
At least this conference has SOME games I'm interested in.
Rayman is intercourse ing awesome, and I'm sure Creed 3 will at least be solid.

It's a big selling tool.

You don't say. Can't decide whether I'm more annoyed by the arrogance of large companies rehashing tired concepts or "indie" developers complaining about how bad the industry is after they put out one successful game.

gg nintendo you had a good run
I hope for Nintendo's sake that Nintendo Land is more like Wii Sports and less like Wii Music.
Anyone else catch how that ZombiU zombify thing totally didn't work?
Ending a conference with a breakdown of a mini-game says a lot.
Not buying Wii U.
That is all.
This is the only good thing to come out of this year's E3.
A Lego game was one of the best games shown. A Lego game.
They probably should have closed with Pikmin 3, would have ended on a better note.
Hopefully none of you was expecting the fourth SSB in the conference. It just begun development.
I still see Wii U being a flop.

I hope you're right. I want it to flop, Iwata and Reggie to get fired, and Nintendo to go third-party.
Paper Mario "Sticker Star" is such a disappointment. Stickers are now battle commands... in case no one gets it, Paper Mario is getting a card-based battle system like Chain of Memories and Metal Gear ACID.
My god that was lackluster. You had Pikmin 3 and that's IT!? WAY TOO FUCKING MUCH OF MARIO.

Your pessimism is pretty annoying. The Wii didn't have much going for it when it first came out, yet it managed to become successful regardless of what your opinion on it is. I'm just waiting patiently, still kinda neutral for now.

It's better than SPM, but I still think there's more to the battle system than we're seeing; i.e. I'm not sure stickers are ALL you can use. I'll be getting it anyway, because who knows? It might actually be fun to play.

Honestly, it's not like the other conferences were a whole lot better. E3 as a whole was just a letdown. As far as Nintendo goes, Rayman Legends (Whoa Ubisoft) is probably the best (or only) thing the Wii U has going for it, but I still think I'll buy the system. I see a lot of potential in it, the only problem is there isn't enough support for the hardware YET, in terms of games. We need more games. We need new games.
I'm not going to be a dick and just strike down Nintendo to the ground right now like all you kids are doing. I think you folks are being just a bit too negative against the corporation as a whole when you're really just disappointed with E3. But I'll admit I'm not blown away by the Wii U just yet, and I wanted to be blown away. I'm not ready to lose all faith in them, though. Were all your expectations for Nintendo's conference higher than for the other four? Seems an awful lot like that's the case. But I think Sony was more disappointing than Ninty this year, honestly.
What I really want to see from Nintendo is 3DS stuff. I got a really nice taste of that from the conference today (Luigi's Mansion 2 looks awesome), and I'm excited for that presentation tomorrow night. That's where Nintendo is going to impress me, hopefully.
What the WiiU needs is games from Nintendo that aren't intercourse ing Mario spam. That got REALLY tiring the last couple years and it seems like Nintendo has zero plans to stop the Mario over saturation in the name of easy money.
Nintendo said they wanted to bring the core gamers back with WiiU. Ports, fitness/singing/dancing casual games and lack of other franchises is NOT the way to do this.
Where are Star Fox, Metroid, F-Zero, DK, Fire Emblem, and so on? How about a truly 3D Kirby game? Or a new IP completely? And people complain about SEGA releasing a Sonic game every year, but apparently two platformers mere months apart and just as shameless whoring is a-ok if it's Mario.

Because the Wii at the time was actually trying something new. The promise it held may have gone completely unfulfilled, but at least initially it seemed like a totally different idea.
The WiiU is Nintendo desperately trying to play catch up in the tech department while adding some DS style functionality (Let's be honest here, that's the ONLY reason it has a touch screen), and people realize this. Meanwhile, the chance they had to sell it to people completely bombed. Seriously, unless you have a desperate need for Mario, there's no reason to pick this up instead of a PS3 this holiday season when the PS3 to be perfectly honest is going to have more functionality and features and a big library of games...

I still don't think anything can top E3 2008 in terms of being bad.
About Just Dance 4: why would anyone play this game on Wii U? The game only sees the hand that is holding the Wii Remote. Those kinds of games work so much better on Kinect.

It also had Brawl, Metroid Prime 3, Super Mario Galaxy, and Wii Sports. Games that people hadn't seen before. If I spend whatever Nintendo expects me to spend on a new system, I don't want to just be playing ports from the last generation of systems. Even then, is a Lego game and another Zombie shooter enough to make me want it? Pikmin was nice, but we knew it was coming.
Come to think of it, Nintendo hasn't had an interesting conference since E3 2006.
Huh, you're right Tupin. Been a while since a Nintendo conference has truly been good.
They really needed something to offset the Mario spam and ports. Pikmin 3 looks like a great game and all, and I'll probably enjoy it if I play it, but still. They needed something with a bit more meat to it that could prove what the WiiU could do but failed to deliver.

^^-- This. Wii had all of nothing good when it came out, except, you know, casuals and ports (TP is technically a Gamecube port, and everyone knew that months before it came out, AND the Gamecube version ended up with better reviews).
If anything, I'd say that Wii U looks better for gamers already since:
1. The ports are of mostly modern, GOOD games from third-parties who will likely support it even more in the future; Wii U is 20x more core than Wii and it's not even out yet.
2. A new Mario and Pikmin is better than... what 1st party exclusives were at Wii's launch? Oh yeah, WarioWare... which Wii U will also get one of.
3. Nintendoland>>>>>>>Mii hype of the Wii. Yeah, it's minigames, basically casualware... featuring levels based on Zelda, Pikmin, F-Zero, Metroid, and more. I'm not whining about what Nintendoland is, I'm excited for what it represents.
Yeah, this is the worst Nintendo conference since 2008; I'm not gonna deny that. But this thread has turned from "omigosh the wiiu is manna from heaven" to "wii u has zero potential and nintendo should go third-party immediately" so fast it makes me wonder if your brains turned to mush after the first day of conferences (except Nayr, who hates everything already). Console launches have sucked for as long as I can remember, and even if Nintendo is spamming Mario like there's no tomorrow, I'm not jumping ship just because I didn't get a freaking Metroid/Star Fox crossover.

I love Mario games, yes, but I don't want intercourse ing five of them every year. Guess what Nintendo? I also love F-Zero, Metroid, Star Fox, DK, and the rest. Why don't I get any of them? Oh right, they don't make oodles of money super easily...
the success of nsmb has given nintendo an excuse to pump out poopty mario launch titles, instead of reinventing mario as the flagship launch title for every generation (smb through sm64, you could also count luigi's mantion)

You all make it sound like it's the doomsday or something.
Stop whining and just enjoy the new system. From all the franchises they chose to continue, Pikmin was the one. Do you all HONESTLY think they'll revive all of them in one fell swoop? If it wasn't Pikmin, you'd be clamoring the darn series and continue the unnecessary hatedom.

Whether you like it or not, it's still arguably a new thing. It may not be as dynamic, but it's new enough where your first argument there doesn't really work.

I'm not surprised at all; Pokemon's at an awkward middle stage where the last of Gen V is dribbling out on the DS (which wouldn't show its face at E3) and Gen VI isn't quite close to starting yet. Next year's E3 might show us some Pokemon Gen VI.
Also, because the Wii's main thing nowadays is being family-oriented, and Just Dance is a recreational family-style game that anyone can pick up and play. It fits the Wii, and honestly, casual gamers don't mind holding a Wiimote in their hand if it means not having to buy another console. But yes, it does work so much better on Kinect.

Also I actually assumed the Balloon was Mario Party for some reason. I feel like they'll dedicate an attraction to that.
They actually said something along the lines of there obviously being reduces performance when using three screens. They said that developers should balance what they need to do technologically with what they want to do, not every game needs to have three screens.
I have a feeling Nintendo planned for there to be only one GamePad at a time for most of development and added the ability for a second one due to demand.

Well, that pretty much kills any possible reason to buy the WiiU then. Main controller that only lasts about 5 hours tops, released six years after Xbox and still looks worse. So aside from Nintendo exclusives, nope, can't think of one reason to get this.
Yeah.... I can't see Nintendo surviving this one... not after showing what little they really have coming out of the gate for it.
Maybe it's because they're still in development and will look better when released? Or they aren't used to programming for it yet?
Nintendo has a different market than they did in 2006, and some of their target audience has gotten used to $0.99 iOS games, and they are doing a horrible job at even saying that what they have is a new console. CNN reported that it was a Wii accessory, they barely have shown the console at at all.
Is showing a fitness game going to sell people a console, especially when it's available plenty of other places?

I still doubt it will be that cheap. I recently found out that final kits only went out two months ago, which might explain the performance issues with multiplats. Also, one game (Trine 2) apparently runs at 1080p versus 720p for the PS3 version. So, yeah, it's more powerful than current gen, but clearly not by a ton. Probably like the difference between PSP and 3DS. Actually, if those leaked specs are true, exactly that.

And gotta love an interview with Reggie IGN has. They ask him about core gamers and core games, and he says part of it is getting all the third party games. He mentions three by name. Batman, Mass Effect 3, and Assassins Creed 3. Uh, Reggie, you DO know two of those are already out and anyone who's interested in them have more than likely already played them? He would then go on to talk about the online interactions being "very core" and all that... without outlining a single online strategy for any actual GAMES.

Bullpoop. They didn't even mention it.
It's true, it just wasn't shown at the conference. (http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/news/30615)
Oh Reggie.
>not announcing the localization of an FE game during E3
>5 minute showcase of New Super Mario Bros. 2. Trust me, you haven't seen this before!
>took time to mention some poop comedy show and show an unfunny trailer of it
>not even a hint at Fire Emblem: Awakening, which is a first party title.
just tell me WHY.
They were just too excited. (https://twitter.com/NintendoAmerica/statuses/210570017471864833)
Their strategy this year was basically "talk about games coming out this year". As a result, we have nothing about Retro, Zelda 3DS and so on, leaving this E3 as just "I see" rather than "aww yeah". I don't think that excuses spending time showing off how the Wii U's port of a game released last year has...controllable Batrangs. Or pointlessly going over how Miiverse works, defeating the purpose of that Nintendo Direct showing. Or using the final minutes of a conference to breakdown how a mini-game works instead of just playing it or something. (if they did this I don't know: I was tired and wasn't paying attention, all I remember are screenshots)
I don't like how Nintendo's only 3DS games until the end of the year are Mario though.

that doesnt mean poop. the ps3 is notoriously hard to develop for, particularly when you're porting a game originally developed for pc.
ps3 is far, far more powerful than wii u.
I'm not sure if i should take this post seriously.
How does PS3 compare to 360 according to you?

Well, it's pretty foul-sounding, but at least he finally got pleased for something.
Meanwhile, I'll stick to my Paper Mario. Heheh, stick.

in terms of raw processing power the ps3 is at least twice as powerful as the 360
but the architecture is completely different making direct ports really intercourse ing difficult.

You can't multitask easily on the PS3, the menus take forever to load, whereas on the 360 everything is reasonably quick. Most games on the PS3 have texture issues as well. It's hard to say that the PS3 is more powerful when it is clearly weaker in other areas.
its pretty annoying, but i still like my ps3 anyway
------
Mona and I just got back from Disney World, so we're trying to catch up on all of this stuff.
Thoughts:
Paper Mario Sticker Star. I'd rather have a PM game TTYD style but whatever, it should be fun anyway.
Wii U General: I'm pleased with how Pikmin 3 looks but I'm not sold yet. The Pro controller looks interesting.
Halo 4: Yes
FE Awakening: wtf no annoucement
MM fake: Why does that have to be fake? Easily the coolest thing I've seen today. Who made it? Anyone know?
And that's all I've seen so far. Still checking stuff out.

once again the ps3 is much harder to develop for. these are all software issues (and in the case of the os issues, it's clear even sony doesn't know how to use their hardware to it's fullest potential)
the biggest fault in the ps3's hardware is the slower load time of the blu-ray reader.
upcoming ps3 exclusives like last of us and beyond look much better than anything the 360 is capable of.

You know your E3 is a train wreck when the best announcements come from Twitter after the show is over.

I'm in the same boat; more TTYD-like stuff is ALWAYS good in my book.

I like the Pro controller, if even for the message that I won't need to use the tablet most of the time.

Don't worry; we'll get Majora's Mask eventually, after a new Zelda game comes out on the 3DS. This comes from a reliable source that I'm too lazy to get right now.

As I thought.
You're right that the PS3's CPU beats both the 360's and the Wii U's on paper. However, the Cell is really a unique and exotic CPU. Comparing it directly with a traditional CPU architecture is very misleading. Looking at it's specs on paper, it competes with high-end
current CPUs. A 2006 CPU that can keep up with 2012 CPUs? Obviously there's a missing part of the puzzle here.
GPU-wise, 360 and PS3 are dead-even, and they have the same amount of RAM (where Wii U is rumored to have 3x as much as they do). PS3 falls behind 360 in the GPU department in many cases, and makes up for that by using the Cell to handle some of the graphics. So, in practice, PS3 doesn't even come close to twice as powerful as 360. They both have strengths and weaknesses.
The Wii U needs that RAM if its transmitting graphics to the tablet.

Somehow, I doubt that the GamePad alone needs an extra gig of RAM. :P

Considering the gamepad itself isn't exactly doing the rendering, I'd say it'd need everything it can get.

if used correctly, this is a good thing. the cell is good at the same sort of things that are normally offloaded to the gpu, meaning it can function as both cpu and gpu as needed.
the biggest thing you get from ram in terms of graphics is better textures, not to say that's a bad thing.

A 480p image only needs about half as many resources to render as a 720p image. It's simply impossible that the controller requires twice as much RAM as current consoles do.

Yes, but a more powerful GPU negates that advantage, especially since the entire Cell can't be used for this at one time. 360 has a somewhat more powerful GPU overall, so while the Cell gives PS3 a notable edge it's nowhere near a 100% increase.
Also, having too little RAM or memory bandwidth can limit rendering resolution as well since it needs to store more textures for that, not simply better textures.
Also, I want bring something up.
I jumped to conclusions out of frustration when I said Wii U was less powerful than 360. I didn't really consider the fact that this is a brand new system and that devs have to learn to work with it. As for Nintendo's games, it's pretty obvious that Pikmin 3 and NSMBU started on Wii, so judging it by those may not work either. We'll probably have to wait until next year to see what it can really do. Too bad for Nintendo that the other next-gen consoles are going to make it look terrible by comparison by then. :/
I thought Pikmin 3 looked pretty good.

What makes it so obvious? We've been hearing about Pikmin 3 since around 2007. That makes it obvious. I can't see anything that makes it look remotely Wii-quality.
So, will ZombiU be the next Red Steel? It's reboot of Ubisoft's first game that also had zombies, but that won't stop people from decrying a lack of creativity.
Apparently if you are bitten one time, you turn into a zombie. Then your new character has to find the zombie of the old one and take all of their survival stuff.

Look closely at those eyes. A lot of straight lines around it. The ground and grass textures also look pretty bad. At best, it's a below-average 360 game graphics-wise. It looks better in motion, but even then a lot of things look off.
Comparing it to the Pikmin puzzle on 3DS, I can tell that it's based on the same engine.

Well, it is in the sense of it being Ubisoft's premiere exclusive on the console, but if you mean will it be a colossal disappointment, I don't see that being likely; everyone who's gotten their hands on the demo has said it's great, and it frankly looks pretty good. Also, it seems pretty original for a zombie game; all the touch and motion stuff seems to work well, the one-bite-and-infected thing and the spawning as different characters to reclaim your old stuff is something that I'm surprised hasn't been implemented dozens of times already, it's in ENGLAND, and did I hear someone say it was open-world to an extent?

That's focus, not blur, and you know it.
Not that it matters. Based on the latest rumor, the CPU is just 3 Wii CPUs on one chip. Nintendo expects the GPU to pick up the slack. It's PS3 in the opposite (far, far worse) direction. Sad part is, this means that the GPU can support next-gen engines, but theCPU bottlenecks it to the point that it can't even run most current gen games well. It's worse than Wii was.
You've presented rumors that have been wrong about the architecture before, so I'm not going to hold my breath.

Sorta. That one was wrong. It was speculation. The actual rumor is simply that Wii U's CPU is significantly weaker than current-gen CPUs.
