To me, rational is something I can observe firsthand or hear the firsthand observation of others and has tested to be true time and time again. Anything beyond what can be observed comes down to the belief in the existence of the subject in question. Religion being mind control I think is something you said to have observed firsthand, but I believe that that thinking is in your belief system since I have not observed it firsthand.
