Title: Attention, breeders.
Post by: Kayo on March 22, 2011, 03:27:39 PM
To all of you who breed. Moreover, those of you who already know that having a Pokemon with Flame Body or Magma Armor in your party makes eggs hatch faster. Specifically, to those of you who go on massive breeding sprees where at any given moment your party consists of five eggs and something with Magma Armor/Flame Body.

And to those of you who would like to be somewhere other than outside the Day-Care center when hatching eggs, or wanted to go to the other side of the map to talk to the IV judge, but never could because that would involve running through winding routes of grass because no Flame Body/Magma Armor pokemon could Fly.

Those of you who might have constantly shuffled the PC with your flyer and your eggs in order to go places while hatching.
Or had to limit your party to a FB/MA, a Flyer, and only 4 eggs.

I'm one of those people.

However GameFreak has decided to give us breeders a new treat in Black and White.

[spoiler](http://media.animevice.com/uploads/0/3695/378469-637volcarona_large.jpg)

I GIVE YOU VOLCARONA!

You might have overlooked it. You might have only thought it was a flaming bug thing with access to an insanely amazing move that raises three of its stats at once. I know I did.

Upon further investigation I discovered the sheer convenience of this butterfly of sunshine. This thing is, in fact
the ONLY pokemon in the game (excluding Dream World Moltres) who can carry an egg-hatching ability AND Fly.

Breeders, enjoy hatching eggs anywhere with ease, with the ability to carry 5 eggs at once, and still be able to hatch them in half the time, AND fly anywhere in Unova you darn well please while doing so.

That is all.

Funny part is, we finally found a Bug that can Fly. And this isn't even a Bug/Flying.

GameFreak, you're too good to us.

This thread is kind of useless. Only like four/five people of the whole place breed for some random stuff like IVs.

Useless, you say? Like every other thread I make? Just because you're not one of those people doesn't mean they don't exist.

I was going to put this into the official thread but the post ended up being too long so it deserved its own thread. Or I can always make it something like "THe Official Volcarona Thread" like Oldsider had. Just calm yourself.

I was just kind of checking it out, and noticed "Hey, this bug can Fly. And it's not Flying, it's Fir- WAIT WHAT ABILITY DOES IT HAVE"
And I'm actually okay with its design. I'm currently doing some massive grinding on my Larvesta (in the 40s now) to get it to 59 tonight, so it will evolve. Just because I didn't feel like bothering with the level 70 thing.

I can't wait until it evolves. Then I'll complete the final stage of my Deino breeding. Then breed other things.

it reminds me of blue waffle mixed with some kind of terrible flaming rash but flame body + fly makes everything all right

"Hey guys, Volcarona has Magma Armor and can learn Fly. Can anyone say massive Pokemon egg spree?"

Sugarcoating makes anything longer. I can possibly say how great Scraggy is if I sugarcoat everything about it.

It's as good as a fiery flying bug can get, I suppose.

Shut up. Don't trash a piece of writing if you disagree with it. And I can say how great Scrafty is easily, without exaggerating. It's got a lot going for it.

I guess, but Bug/Steel was good enough for Scizor. He's already badass with his typing.

On a vaguely related note, for those of you who didn't know, ever since Gen 4 the likelihood of shinies in eggs is much greater when it has a foreign parent.

Masuda method. The odds are multiplied by 4, if I'm not mistaken. It goes from 1/8192 to 1 in 2 thousand something.

It's actually what Alder uses to fly away on when he flies. That's how I found out.

He's what I use for my breeding. Which reminds me, I'll be offering up some fantastic Pokerus infected young uns with egg moves and good IVs in the near future.

Oh yes. My Larvesta is at level 57. Won't be long now. I'll have my Volcarona before I finish this Elite Four run.

Also, does anyone plan on using a Volcarona other than to hatch eggs?

I will. A separate one, though. For the one I'll use in battles, I'll bother with natures and EVs and such. For this one I'm not.
But it's got that Quiver Dance move. As long as it survives a hit in order to set up, it may be unstoppable. That huge Rock weaknesses is really hurting it though. Along with the poor Defense. But I'll use it anyway. I know I can make it work. With a Bold nature and max IVs/EVs, defense gets to 251 and HP is around 374. If I choose to invest in those I might survive, but then I lose tons of speed or Sp. Atk, and Quiver Dance becomes less dynamic.

This is tough. For now, I'll just work on this egghatcher so I can get my Hydreigon.

Awesome, I now have a Volcarona.

I can now get five eggs, fly to the "Marvelous" bridge and get tons of EV feathers, and fly back. Without hitting the PC once except to deposit hatched pokemon.

Six eggs in a party?

Actually more. When my party's full sometimes I'll deposit a few eggs into the PC to collect more. Then when there's that "drought" period where eggs are hatching faster then the Day-Care man can give them to you, I can go into the PC and grab a few of the eggs I put there.

So...one of those six eggs in your party with no Pokemon will actually protect you when you're busy hatching them?

Who the intercourse  wouldn't carry a pokemon with them? I have my Volcarona.

I also have 8 Deino eggs currently waiting to be hatched. Yes, Final stage Deino.

I'm going to try to hatch an Adamant Gyrados.
Aside from Atk, what other IVs should it have?

Depends. You probably want speed, but if you're using Dragon Dance you really don't need to be perfect in attack (You should be close by just a few points though)

Also make sure the other IVs (besides Sp. Atk) are not below... 15-20. You don't have to be perfect, but I hate settling for single digits in defensive stats.

Yeah, I'm using Dragon Dance.
Defense seems to be the lowest part of its bulk, so I'll get 31 for that.

Why? Once you get set up you won't need defense. Like I said, you don't need perfection. I'd make attack and speed your priority.

I have not seen an "official" tier list yet. I've seen some discussion threads on Smogon, including one that suggested Lugia and Deoxys-D be unbanned, but no official list. I think they've already decided to ban Reshiram and Zekrom, but that's it.

I have a feeling that those aren't "banned," they're just ubers-only. Because we've had Drizzle Kyogre paired with things like Kingdra or Ludicolo in Ubers, or has the combo always been banned? I don't think it has.

Yeah, I meant in OU they're banned.
But really though why would they ban Drizzle + SS and not ban Drought + Chlorophyll?

Swift Swim users are already deadly enough. Chlorophyll users can easily be covered, as many of them are naturally slow, and a Choice Scarfed Fire-type attack can kill them in the sun.
