Stuff I Drew, Hooray (Critique Wanted!)

Hay all. I decided I'd put up some stuff I did; I really want to get better so any critiques you have would be extremely appreciated.


This is a design I made for a band t-shirt. Drawn by mouse in Flash. Cape and name alignment have since been fixed.

A potential CD cover; I drew the person by hand, then scanned and colored/shooped to make stuff blend.

...First: do Rocket Boots exist?...
...I'd like a pair...

...Overall, it looks pretty good...
...I don't think there's much to say...

...Two: Again, great overall, but there's that obvious open space...
...I'm sure you've thought of it, just haven't had a good idea for what to put there...
...Try a symbol or something...I have no clue...:>...

...Also, at the top right corner, maybe you could make a brighter shade of the colour so that it's variant...

...C: It doesn't really look like a Gastly because of its eyes or a Raichu because of its size...
...Also, they're slightly diagonal...

...I dunno, something just doesn't look even...

The thing looks barefoot and it's called "Rocket Boots." Learn to make sense. But the weird thingy flying is pretty cool.

1. Gender confusion.
2. Red Rocket Boots, needs RED BOOTS not blue shoes.
3. Hair down + hoody up = No.

I know when it's a band it doesn't always need it to match the band name, but for the first CD cover, it should.

That's true. The way our band does it, we define rocket boots as any appliance worn on the feet that is rocket-y. The barefoot thing also makes sense, so I kinda just say he tapes them on or something. But yeah, noted.

1. Yeah, I kind of suck at genders. Will definitely work on it.
2. I didn't make the title, and going by our not-quite-rocket-boots definition, there's no requirement to do so. But I gotcha.
3. Thanks for pointing that out, I sorta thought it a little weird.

It's not the cover for our first cd (the first cover was drawn 2 years ago), more of a mock up to show the rest of the band, but if I edit it I'll know what to change, thanks. =3

1. Was intended to be a girl and I goofed. Also, gender suckage returns.

3. Raichu doesn't do the =3 thing? I kind of stylized him to be my own, I hate when people use "style" as an out but that's what I did.

So I drew some other guy, yay! I decided to mess with perspective a little bit on the thumbs up; I dunno how good it is so please, critique away.  ;)

I had colorized him in Flash, but for some reason it doesn't show up when hosted by either Photobucket or Imageshack which confuses and annoys me.

Anyway, it's all yours. ::)

His right hand (left side of picture) looks poopty, his shoes look weird, and more erase on the hat line of hair.
Other than that it's pretty good.

The hat line thing is covered in the colored version, but would you mind redlining the suggested changes to the shoes and hand? What's wrong with them?

IDK how to suggest you fix those, they're pretty hard to explain...

So cute! ^^ The hands do seem a bit unproportionate with the body even with the angle sort of like JrDude mentioned, it's a great start but I think just some work on that part. The shoes are pretty good in my opinion :). Overall i think it came out great (love  his clothes), it just needs a few things worked out. My suggestion for the hand is either looking at your hand, or someone's hand in that pose and using that as a reference.

I did reference my hand for the thumbs-up, but not for the "crappy" one. As for that bad hand, I honestly can't see what to fix except maybe the lower part which seems too narrow and goes in too far to meet the fingers. Anything else I'm missing?

I also have some WIPs I'm dabbling in which might be up eventually.
