Well, this game looks seriously amazing and I'm definitely getting it. But I don't know what system to get it on. PROS AND CONS TIME

Wii pros:
- Better graphics
- Looks more fun on the big screen
- Possibly better controls due to Wii, but I'm not sure.

Wii cons:
- Can't take it with me, and I like portable gaming.

DS pros:
- 2 screens = ?
- Portability

DS cons:
- Graphics not as good

So I want your opinion on which system is the best for it. So I ran this poll. Happy voting.

There's a demo for the DS version available for download on the Wii's Nintendo Channel now. Try it out if you want.

Personally, I'm going for Wii hands down.
Wii = Sonic Unleashed Daytime with power-ups (basically the best Sonic gameplay evar)
DS = Sonic Rush with power-ups (Rush is nice, but not nearly Unleashed)

And the DS thing? That's not a generalization; I played the demo and own Rush, and it's like I was playing the same game. Not that Rush isn't amazing, but Unleashed Daytime is FABULOUS.

*edit

IGN has now reviewed both the Wii (http://wii.ign.com/articles/113/1132902p1.html) and DS (http://ds.ign.com/articles/113/1132901p1.html) versions... and they BOTH got 8.5/10. Does that help you make your decision?  :P

I'm really leaning towards the Wii because i like playing sonic games like that on a console (SONIC HEROOOOOOEEESSS), but i still like the DS's portability. But I think the graphics are deciding it for me, and I'll get Wii. I think.

The Wii version has the awesome new voices, but will probably end up on 360.

IGN is calling 2010 the "Sonic Renaissance." After being mediocre-to-bad for the past several years (at least on consoles after Heroes; portable Sonic has always been great), 2010 has seen the release of 3 great Sonic games: a spin-off in the form of Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing, a classic-style Sonic The Hedgehog 4 (episode 1), and now what may finally be Sonic's rightful place on the modern console, Sonic Colors. In fact, if you take into account that the DS version is so different in gameplay, you could say that 4 different great Sonic games are out this year.

- 50 (maybe more) levels
- Great Music
- 2d sections have a lot of exploration
- Creative level design
- Multiplayer
- Gamecube controller support

...Yep

The gameplay looks awesome, the trailers look interesting, but one thing that Sonic was almost always good at in the series doesn't seem to be good in this game, the music. Most, if not all, of the music from the past horrible games were awesome, especially their main song. But Sonic Color's song, first time I heard it I wanted to barf, but now that I've seen trailers a few times and heard it several times, it's ultra meh, but not great like most of the other songs. I can almost blame the name of the game for the badness of the song, because the music in it is awesome, but the singing, it doesn't sound too good imo.

Also, I once made a fan Sonic character in my head, a porcupine, and in my mental gameplay, he had the ability to do what Sonic can do with the Pink Spiky Whisp or whatever they're called.
THEY STOLDED MAH IDEAR

Everyone I know is practically waiting for it to be ported to the PS3/360.

I'll do the same. I want the game, but I can't justify buying it twice(even though I've bought Dragon Quest IX three times lol). Sonic Unleashed's day stages were intercourse ing fantastic, and the 360/PS3 version was the best looking game of the year when it came out, and is still better looking than most 360/PS3 games that come out.

Forget those vids, here's the ost: http://www.brawlcustommusic.com/game/395 (http://www.brawlcustommusic.com/game/395)

Now, I'm not saying you can DOWNLOAD these, but... you can totally download these.

I FREAKING LOVE the Aquatic Park Act 1 theme. I think this is the best Sonic game ever in terms of level music.

In exquisite detail, no less. He's an obsessive Sonic fan.

I still want a Sonic game that has multiple playable characters though, like Sonic Adventure.

Is the gameplay really cheap, or is this one of those times when the reviewers confuse difficulty with poor mechanics? The Gametrailers review in particular said the camera and controls were still all broken.

I think people are saying they reviewed an earlier version of the game that had worse controls.

There are some parts of the game where you'll be like "Seriously? I didn't make that jump? - REALLY?! I OVERDID THAT JUMP?! - DUDE LAND ON THE FUCKING PLATFORM!!! - Finally made it... OH SO I MISS THE NEXT ONE?!?!?! WHAT THE FUUUUUUUUCK!!!!!!"

It's hard to control small jumps to land on small platforms, I usually don't jump enough, or over do the jump, or "OH I'm far away and not gonna make it, air dash thing, oops overshot, FUCK"

All of that happened today.

Just beat the game.
It's really fun, but way too easily beaten. Final Boss, ultra easy, unless there's another boss I am currently unaware of.

Got the game, through 2 and a half worlds in about an hour and a half. Getting the red rings as I go if I see them.

It's really fun, and really well designed. My only gripe so far is that the game can feel a bit stiff sometimes. Guh, now I've got work and class.

Update:

Well, I've beaten the final boss, and gottenn 94/180 Red Rings.

So, it's fun and it controls well. But it's not perfect. The powers are all really interesting and provide a lot of fun and some good puzzles. The level design flows much better than any Sonic game on a console since the Adventure series (and in some cases, even better). The graphics are amazing for a wii game, the music is typically Jun Sunoe great. The VA's are really good, and the plot doesn't suck.

However, there are some problems. Some levels are really short, which makes the game really short. There are also some problems with the jumping, as it still feels stiff and really precise stuff can be a problem, especially when you're in a rush to do something before a power runs out. Finally, like all long fetch quests, some of the red rings are in really vagina cleaning device-y places.

Red rings? What

Now that that's been spoiled for me you have to tell me what they are D:

Basically the Star Coins of Sonic, except 5 per level (not including boss levels and the VERY last levels)

They're basically little tokens you get, 5 per level aside from bosses. They're hidden about the stages, and a lot of the early ones are held off by not having the right wisps unlocked. They unlock new stuff in the multiplayer/challenge stages. And I getting them all unlocks a very special surprise (I won't spoil them for you).

Some of them are hidden in VERY dickish places. ~_~

I've heard complaints of poor level design, is it true? Hey, at least most of the reviews are positive.

It's more like 90% of it is really good, 5% is meh, and 5% is kinda bad. It's not so much that those sections are bad, it's more like they just don't flow all that well compared to other levels or other parts of the same level, so it comes across as bad.

Well, I got all the Red Rings and finished every level in the Game Land Arcade.
Super Sonic is intercourse ing awesome. A bit iffy to control in 3D, but since most of the game is 2D it's all good. Invincibility and auto-point up is really cool, and the infinite boost doesn't hurt either.
So, that's another game 100%'ed. *plays Sonic Colors more while waiting for Donkey Kong*

I just got Super Sonic, and I am disappointed. I played through every level again just to try him out. You can't use any other wisps, and there are a few levels that literally won't let you get the 50 rings required, I got every ring in one of the Candy Land levels, and it stopped at 49 exactly, and there are many other rings but they are blocked off by Blue Blocks, they taunt you too, "Haha, there's plenty of 10 ring rings, but you can't reach us."
Also, you can't use him in any boss fights, which isn't too bad since it would just make you invincible and you'd possibly win too easily.
Also, it's not really that fun to play as him IMO, it's just a slightly faster Sonic with infinite boost and can't get hurt, he also only has 1 jump, which jumps exactly as high as regular Sonic when he does his double jump.

Another thing, I watched some of your "first look at Sonic Colors" Nayr, and I stopped near the part where you said "you can just stop at the end of the level and wait for Super Sonic to end and you'll get an S rank" which I believed, but since the time goes down so much and you end up with 0 rings, it doesn't really help your score at all.
Hell, many levels as Super Sonic, I got worse than my regular sonic run grade.

Also, the repetitiveness of the music got annoying pretty quickly.

I am disappointed I wasted my time finding all those red rings, I DIDN'T EVEN USE A GUIDE I WAS SO EXCITED.
Though those little bonus levels in the Sonic Arcade thing were fun, can you be Super Sonic in there? I never tried.

The S-rank thing in levels basically applies to the full level ones, where there are a lot of rings.

I got Sonic Colors the other day, and have now completed the story and must begin my red ring search.

I must say, this game is pretty fun. The story is almost non-existent (pretty disappointing due to my love for the lore of the series), multiplayer makes no sense (why couldn't it be Sonic and Tails, and why couldn't they do split-screen on a normal level?), and I must admit I'm disappointed that it's so much more 2D-platformer oriented than the 3D super speed levels of Unleashed Daytime. However, the game's still tons of fun (not a werehog in sight, and 2D has never been a weak point for Sonic), and I wouldn't mind if Sonic gameplay remained like this for future games. I like the new voice actors and dialog writers, too. I just hope future games can get back to Adventure-sized stories and multiple character gameplay (even if they do it like Sonic Advance where they're all basically the same).
