It's a fanfic that I wrote on Nsider. At the time, I had about 6 loyal readers, and many more people who read a chappie or few every once in awhile. I'm not stopping until it's done, and it has 40 chapters so far. I'm going to continue it on here, but I may not be able to post much today.

A note on the first few chapters- Because I used MS Word to type it, there's a bit of indenting troubles in the first couple chapters. I tried to fix it, but this is the best I can do. Hey, it could be worse- at least it's legible :D

Also, the paragraphs will grow smaller and easier on the eyes as well. Once again, I tried to break them up here, but they're still a bit big.

Chapter 1: Strange Awakening

?What?  What happened?  Where am I?
I groggily raised my head, which was throbbing terribly.

?So, you finally came together?? A feminine voice said. Delicately turning my head, I was startled to see a Latias hovering right next to me.

?What?s going on??? You?re a? you?re a?? I attempted to exclaim, but was cut short by a burst of pain from my head.

?Hey, don?t freak out about this, okay? I?m only here to help? you need to get more rest before I will explain things to you?? She reassured. I was about to protest, when I felt very drowsy, so I laid my head down and slowly drifted away?

I woke up again, much less drowsy, with only a slight throb in my head now. I quickly remembered the Latias and shot my head from side to side, looking for her. Big mistake- the pain that I thought was long gone returned in an instant. I cradled my head and slowly laid back down.

?For someone who fell and crashed on their head, you seem to have a lot of energy.? The familiar voice said.

Regaining my composure, I ventured to ask, ?What are you??

Coming in front of me so I could see her better, she simply replied, ?What do I look like?? This time, I was a little more? calm. I carefully looked at her up and down, trying to convince myself that she really was a Latias.

?How can this be? You?re a? pok?mon. They aren?t really? real, right? And, where the heck am I?? I said as I looked around at the large round cavern that I was in.

The Latias replied, ?You seem to be almost fine now, so I suppose I should explain to you the whole story of why you are here now.? This sounded good, because even though I looked calm on the outside, on the inside, I was totally freaking out.

?You were taking the tour of your school, right? I could tell you were enjoying yourself in the school?s underground tunnels. They are very interesting? but you made a mistake. You thought it would be a good idea to wonder off on your own, so you decided to enter that dark, dank room when nobody was looking. For future reference, never start running in a room that you can?t see in, okay? You just sprinted in, and BAM! You hit your head on a pipe, crumpled to the ground, and slid down the stone ramp. Even worse for you, there was a large hole at the end, which you slid into head-first. You crashed pretty badly there. If I hadn?t followed you in there, you could have very easily died.?

Even though I could tell she wasn?t done, I quickly interrupted, ?Why the heck did you even follow me in the first place, and how were you in my school? I didn?t see a pok?mon stalking me in the middle of the tour!?

Well, that said it. ?I wish I didn?t have to show you this early, but you need to know eventually?? The Latias floated closer to the ground, closed her eyes, and started to glow all over her body. Her entire body became a glowing mass, which slowly changed shape to resemble a girl, possibly a young teenager, and then stopped glowing. I couldn?t help myself, what little sanity I had left in me was gone. For the third time today (or has it been longer than that?) I fainted.

I woke up in the same cave, which seemed strangely empty. I carefully raised my head and looked around for the girl, aka. Latias. She was nowhere to be found. I got up, and started to walk around, heading towards the lighter side of the tunnel.

I emerged in a wide, open plain, as normal as can be, except for the Rattata running around in the grass a few yards away from me. After what I had seen earlier, I actually took that very well. I looked up at the sky, wondering why it wasn?t raining anymore like it had been at school. I was half expecting to see the sun blinding my eyes, but there was no sun there. My heart skipped a beat. Where was I? How could there not be a sun?

I didn?t have long to think about it, because I was interrupted by a loud roar that echoed across the plain. Despite what my common sense told me, I followed the noise, walking slowly and carefully. I had only gone a few yards when I spotted it and stopped dead in my tracks.

A large, probably fully grown, spiky, intimidating Tyranitar was not too far away from me. I didn?t know what was scarier; being that close to a Tyranitar, or that it had Latias pinned to the ground and was preparing to crush her skull with its full body weight. The fear was quickly replaced by anger.  Even though I didn?t know much about that Latias, she saved my life, or at least said she did, and I felt that I needed to help her back. I felt anger coursing through my body, and felt a strange sensation all through my body.

I looked at my hands to see that they were glowing; exactly the way Latias?s hands did before she changed into that girl. I felt my body molding, much faster than hers had. It was over very soon. Looking at my hands again, I realized they were gray and blue, and had small claws. I also noticed that I wasn?t standing anymore, but hovering. I was a Latios.

Unfortunately, I wasn?t the only one who noticed the transformation. The Tyranitar stopped looking at its victim and turned towards me. I stared right back at it, unsure of what to do next.

Luckily, I didn?t have to. The Tyranitar made a mistake; by looking at me, it loosened its hold on Latias, and that was all she needed. She shot out and above him, quickly releasing an icy cold breath, encasing the tyranitar in ice. She blasted him next with a shining ray of pure energy, driving straight into its heart (or where it should be), killing it on the spot. However, instead of crumpling over dead, it dissolved into a dark, shadowy mist, drifting off into the haze.

Latias turned to look at me, and quite simply, smiled.

Chapter 2: The Creation

Still slightly shaken, I couldn?t help but ask, ?What? happened? How am I? a? I?m a? Latios now?? I had too continuously staring down at myself to reassure myself that I was still in my new body.

?I knew you were the one? I was afraid for a moment that I had the wrong person? But this isn?t the place for this. We need a better place to talk. We should head back into the cave?? Latias wistfully commented as she started heading towards the cave.

Following her in, we went farther into the cave this time, past the place that I was resting earlier. I had a million questions to ask; how? why... where? but I could wait, if only for a little longer. The cave came to an abrupt halt. It was fairly dark now, I could hardly see myself. Just when I was afraid I would get hit in the head by a stalactite, I saw a faint, purple glow emitting from farther down. ?We?re almost there?? Latias quietly said.

A smallish, round metal object was standing alone in the end of the cave. It had a slowly swirling purple center that occasionally emitted sparks. It emitted a soft hum that barely echoed in the large cavern. ?What? is that?? I asked, even though I was not ready at all for the answer I got.

?Oh, it?s just a portal to the Earth? there are more than you would think around here.? Latias carefully replied. I could tell she was trying not to freak me out again, because I was going to faint for sure if she didn?t calm me down a little.

?There was more to the story where I left off? when you turned into the dark room, I quietly followed behind you, and when I heard the thump, I rushed in to see if you were okay. I had to heal the wound in your head, but it was too dangerous to do it there. I had to take you to a nearby portal that was hidden deeper into the passage that you stupidly sprinted into. I carried you through it, headed a little farther into the cave so you wouldn?t see the portal as soon as you woke up, and healed you there. I don?t know what would have happened if you saw it earlier?? Latias drifted off, obviously sickened by the thought.

Once again, the same question came back. ?So, who are you, and where are we?? Latias smiled, and once again, changed back into that girl. When she stopped glowing, she was still smiling, waiting for me to realize. If she keeps on doing this, I am going to have a heart attack!

?You?re? the new girl? Amber, right?? I whispered, scarcely able to breathe.

?I am? I came here searching for the person that could change into Latios. When I saw you, I figured that you were the one my mom said was the one? I guess she was right?? Amber wistfully said. For the first time, I took a better look at the person I used to think of as ?just the new kid?. She had long, flowing blonde hair, extremely light cyan eyes that seemed as though they were colored just like a diamond. She was about twelve and a little over five feet, just a little shorter than me.

?We are in a world that was created by Arceus? you have heard of him from the games, right? My mom said that Dad used to research the creation all the time. Nobody knows how Arceus was created in the first place, but many like to believe that there was a scientist that had recently discovered strange DNA found on rocks that came from space. He researched the DNA extensively, and was able to recreate the being that the DNA came from, which was Arceus. Arceus then created this world, and with it, created many other beings to share his new world with him.?

?The next thing he did is he created many portals back to his home dimension, Earth, and scattered them all over his world. He allowed two humans, the one who created him, and the man?s wife, to come and live with him in his dimension. The people enjoyed life there very much, and yet, something was wrong. The Latios he created found and released a secret force that Arceus had sealed away for a dire time. That force was the Shadow Force. That Tyranitar that I destroyed a little bit ago? It was created from the shadows.?

?Latios used the shadow powers to form new beings with it for himself: Darkrai and Giratina. At first, he wanted them to be his servants, but they had other ideas, and they became his partners with him instead. They desired conquest over the new dimension, but even with all of its power, Arceus could not do it alone. To solve this, he gave the man who created him the power to change into a purer, honest Latios. However, his wife was jealous, so gave her the ability to change into something else new- Latias. The two mighty groups of three fought, and after a long time, Arceus, Darkrai, and Giratina were put into dormancy and were sealed off from the world.?

?However, the fight continued between the Latis. Eventually, the dark Latios was killed, but somehow, he was reborn, and fought again. The pure Latis killed him time and time again, but he kept coming back.  Eventually, the fight was called off, but the dark Latios?s desire for conquest still remained. He created an entire society of shadow, then created and underground world and hid there.?

?Although the pure Latis didn?t forget about the dark Latios, they lived a peaceful life in the new dimension. They had a daughter, and soon discovered that Arceus?s creator?s wife couldn?t become Latias anymore. It had appeared that the power was passed down to their daughter. They lived that life, but eventually, Arceus?s creator died. His family wondered what the dimension would fall to without a second guardian, as the dark Latios vowed to return again.?

?One day, a young boy ventured into a large, grassy plain, when he tripped on a rock. Angry at the rock, he threw it across the plains, only to discover a small hole in the ground. He left for home and returned for a shovel, and dug into the whole. After awhile, he discovered a small cavern with a portal inside. He stepped into it, and was sucked into this dimension. Arceus?s creator?s family found him, and discovered that he could now become Latios.?

?Ever since, the Lati line has come down the same way. When the Latias has a daughter, the mother loses the ability to be Latias, and the daughter obtains it. When the old Latios dies,  there may not be a Latios for awhile. The next one does not come until it is needed. When it is time, a random, capable boy is fated to discover the dimension and become Latios. This time, that boy was you: you are the next Latios.?

Chapter 3: The Next Latios

?? So how did you know?? I had to ask. I mean come on, me? If I wasn?t blue right now, I wouldn?t have believed her.

?I don?t know? there is still a lot of stuff I don?t know. I?m only twelve?? She sighed.

Despite her being only twelve, I was still amazed at how she handled the Tyranitar. I mean, that thing would have ripped me to shreds! ?Oh, great.? I thought to myself. ?If the Tyranitar tried to kill her, what about me? She seems to be used to this, but me? The toughest fight I have ever been in is a tiny fistfight at school??

Amber could tell that I was worried, and her face softened a little. ?We are in great danger and hold a great responsibility. Don?t worry? my mom said she wasn?t exactly a fighter when she was in our position? speaking of which, you should probably meet her.? Amber gently said. I felt comforted to know that I had at least one friend in this strange, new world.

We exited the cave, back into the wide, totally open plain. There was nothing but grass as far as I could see, which happened to be a little bit farther now. I turned back to look at the cave that we came from, which looked like nothing more than a large rock with a hole in it.

?You will have to practice flying, which is pretty easy here. Basically, just lean in the direction that you want to go, and focus yourself being propelled from the opposite direction. This is a great place to learn!? Amber said excitedly. I was much happier now.

I focused on being propelled from behind, leaned forward, and POW! I shot off! I felt like I could fly around the whole world in an instant! I was flying! (In more ways than one!) Amber caught up to me, and started heading off another direction. I followed- or tried to, but instead I turned 180? I guess it?ll take some more practice?

The terrain gradually got dry. The dirt started to show, and looked cracked and there was little grass. I could see a faint silhouette of a large object in the distance. ?We are getting closer?  that thing up in the distance is called Wyvern Mountain by legend, but is more commonly referred to as the Dragonite?s mountain. Obviously, it is called that for a reason. The people? or should I say, Dragonites, will be very happy to see the new Latios, so just be friendly and say hi to everyone. They are just like people- treat them like them.? Amber instructed. A mountain filled with Dragonites? What next?

Wow? I thought it looked big at a distance, but in person, it was HUGE! The mountain stuck straight up into the air, and had to be at least 500 feet tall! It was about as wide as a football field, and was made of a dark brown rock. There were several small windows, and they went all the way up to the top. I could see a very faint projection near the top, which I would probably see later. Amber let me stare for awhile, but eventually gestured for me to enter the entryway.

Despite the primitive rocky appearance that I saw on the outside, the inside was pretty nice, with nicely colored floor that looked like a dark marble. The ceiling was about 15 feet high, and there were stairs on the other side of the room. There were seats that were apparently supposed to be couches, and were made of a strange, dark brown, leathery fabric. Then the Dragonites. They were EVERYWHERE! There had to be at least 50 of them, just on this one floor. They were all talking animatedly, all in English, surprisingly.

As soon as they saw me, they all stopped talking, and turned over to look at me. Immediately, I was very, very, nervous. Just say hi. A voice echoed in my head. It sounded sort of like Amber, so I just spoke what I thought I should say. ?Hi? I am the new Latios. I don?t exactly know how I why it was me, but I?m here now, so, I will try to understand this world and everyone who lives in it.?

Well, I guess I couldn?t have been more honest, but maybe I should have acted like I had some sort of an idea of what was going on. I was half expecting them to laugh, but instead I was greeted with a million warm welcomes. Many of them bowed to me, so I just bowed back awkwardly.

I also heard many of them exchanging a few comments about me, mostly just ?he finally came? and ?It?s about time? ? What do they mean? I couldn?t have come any sooner? I was Amber motioned for me to go upstairs, so I hurriedly rushed up, eager to be away from the excited Dragonites.

Instead of stopping on the second floor, we rushed up even higher. Each floor was practically identical- there was a long hallway, which had several rooms bridges off to the sides. I counted two, four, six, nine, eleven floors; then I lost count.

On one of the higher floors, we finally stopped. Still, I wanted to know where that voice came from that put me out of shock came from. ?Was that you talking to me, in my head??

Amber smiled at me and replied, ?Yes, it is one of the cool things that we have the ability to do, like flying. To do it, focus on me, and then think what you are going to say.? Like this. Whoa! I HAD to try this!

Amber started down the hall, so I figured I should follow. She turned into one of the rooms, near to the end of the hall. I slowly turned into the room, wondering what could be next.

Inside, there was a long table that stretched across the room. It reminded me of those tables that office executives sat at when they were having an important meeting. At the far end of the table, and exceptionally large Dragonite sat. Nearby, a few other Dragonites sat as well, but they seemed to mostly be listening to the largest, who I assume is their leader.  There was one other that caught my attention- a tall, blonde woman that looked much like Amber sat at the table as well. ?This is him!? Amber excitedly proclaimed.

?Welcome!? The large Dragonite said. ?I know you are probably very confused right now, but all will be explained in due time. There was an important reason for you to be chosen at this time. You see, we have a very dire emergency right now- we are at war.?

Chapter 4- Explanations

?A? WAR??? I?m just a kid? how can I help with something like war! Maybe Amber can, but I haven?t even been here for a day! Who are we fighting against, anyways?? I cried.

?I can answer that?? The blonde woman said. ?First, I should probably introduce myself. My name is Crystal Corbel, but please, just call me Crys. I am Amber?s mom? and? sadly, her only parent. My husband died a year ago?? She sadly said.

?I?m so sorry?? is all I could say, still in shock (which was happening very frequently) that I was expected to help in a war.

?He died fighting, the way he always knew he would. He did many great things in his life? including doing the impossible- he destroyed the Dark Latios.? This last thing she said totally threw me off. Wasn?t he invincible?

?I see you are a little confused. You see, we found a way to kill him forever, but it was at a huge price. In order to kill him permanently, while the Dark Latios was still being reborn after being ?killed?, we found out that the current Latios must commit suicide? so he gave his life up for the good of us all? if only he had known?? Crys trailed off.

I didn?t want to be annoying, but I couldn?t help asking, ?What did he not know??

The large Dragonite spoke up. ?That brings us back to the war. When he destroyed the Dark Latios, the seal on Arceus, Darkrai and Giratina was broken. Unfortunately, we had no knowledge of this until it was too late. Darkrai and Giratina found Arceus first, and possessed him with the Shadow Force.?

?They have assembled an army of possessed, powerful beings to overtake this entire world and control it with the might of the Shadows. We are one of the largest threats to them- they can very possibly attack us at any given moment. We are working on evacuating the defenseless, and assembling our own attack force to strike back at them. You are one of our last hopes; their forces outnumber ours by about 50 to 1. However, we are more skilled than possessed weaklings, and with good strategy, we may stand a chance.?

One of the other Dragonites said, ?Crys will train you in the arts of fighting with your powers, so that you won?t be severely harmed, killed, or even worse- captured.? Captured? I never even thought about that. That would be terrible? if I am as important as everyone says, that means that I will definitely have to watch my back.

Suddenly, a terrifying thought occurred to me. ?Uhh? I have been gone from Earth for about eight hours now! Everyone will wonder where I went, and then they may discover the portal, and then??

?Don?t worry about it!? Crys reassured me. ?Dialga makes it so that time in this dimension and time on Earth are irrelevant. Nothing will have changed when you go back; nothing on Earth has happened yet.?

Oh. Now it probably seems like I tried to get out of training. ?You should probably start training with Crys as soon as possible, since we don?t know when they will strike next. Is it okay with you if you start-?

The large Dragonite was cut off mid-sentence, because a Dragonite ran into the room. He looked totally terrified, as though he had seen a ghost. He only uttered two words before he fainted- ?They?re here!?

Ok first off: it's in first person yay! I see so many 3rd person these days it almost makes me dry. Good to see you're trying something differnt, (All like me can only do 1st person :D :()

Now first if someone new speaks ease the paragraphs.

"There is a bug kill it," The tall women said jumping up and down like a Kangaroo. I sighed and replied, "OMG it has a gun!"

When it should be:

"There is a bug kill it," the women said jumping up and down like a Kangaroo.

I sighed and replied, "OMG it has a gun!"

You didn't do that in the later chapters good job. Maybe more descrition, less talking. I have no idea who all these Pokemon are. You can even say they have blood dripping down there tail, a cute hair style, or holding a teddy bear, that shoots guns.

Alos explain the surroudings. People. And the guns they weild.

Now you are doing good but it's confusing. I'll be here to see how this turns out. Will it be a distaer will it be a happy ending.

Oh it's good to know that you will finish it no matter what, thats the spirt. I hate not knowing what happens. Well i'll be here to explain pointers along the way.

Also don't put up all chapters at once, maybe one a day. Then you can write more when you wait for the next day to come. Reading 4 chapters takes awhile.

Well adious

I got a lot of the "start a new paragraph when a new person is talking" Thing on Nsider, and I corrected it around chapter 5, and never made the mistake again in later chapters. I've tried to add more description in later chapters, but I think that I might need a LITTLE bit more...

Also, it's nice to have a fan again :D

I sure wish I could find all of my old readers...

They left off at a MAJOR cliffhanger. It's near the end XD :(

Well, I'll post more chapters gradually, however, if one of my old readers back, I'll probably do a mass-posting...

If one of them comes back TOO soon, I'll just PM it to them. The goal of posting this here is to not only get new readers, but also to TRY to get this onto a forumtracker, so it'll get on google, and hopefully, I'll get some readers back.

One last thing- do you want to be on the reader list? If so, reader, or Fan?

Ty, but the First-Person won't change, sorry.

It WILL, however, switch between characters.

As I've said before, I've already written 40 chapters, and I don't plan on majorly changing them.

I edited the first two already, I'll get to revising the rest of the fic... eventually.

Whenever I finish revising, I'll post new chappies. currently, I need to revise 3-4, so if they're slightly off, srry.

One day, I'll probably revise like 30 chappies, and be caught up, but until I have time... srry.

Oh my god, I love this fan fic.! This is the best thing I've read in ages! Please, keep it up!
P.S: I am an avid writer too, and I have written 2 stories based on games. My source for inspiration is

1. Playing the game
2. Obsession with the game
3. Imagining the game in real life

Oh my god, I love this fan fic.! This is the best thing I've read in ages! Please, keep it up!
P.S: I am an avid writer too, and I have written 2 stories based on games. My source for inspiration is

1. Playing the game
2. Obsession with the game
3. Imagining the game in real life
Kk, and ty!

Nice to know I've got die hard fans again... I sure wish I could find the older fans tho...

Don't worry, I post new chappies whenever I get them edited.

When the day comes that I'm caught up, I'll write the final 10 chapters that never got posted on Nsider... :(

So many Lati fics that I never knew about! I'm writing one (just started chapter 19), Pokemon_Master_0 is writing one (on IGN since The Crash, may invite him here), and you're writing one.

Haven't taken the time to look it over yet, but you did start pretty fast.

Once again, I just have to edit it, there are 40 chapters from the old Nsider, and I'll write several more to finish it.

The only reason I don't just post all 40 now is becase I need to edit and revise them.

Chapter 5- New Powers

A million thoughts were running around in my head; none of them good. I had no training, didn?t even know what powers I had, and to top it all off, I could easily be killed or captured!

?He can?t fight with us.? Crys said. ?He has had no training, has no idea of the extent of his powers, and he will probably be killed or captured.? Well, I couldn?t have said that any better.

?You?ll be safe in here, as long as you stay away from the windows. I don?t have powers anymore, so I will stay in here with you, and try to help you with your new abilities, as a last resort.? Crys decided. Last resort? I really don?t like the sound of that?

?Alex? whatever you do, don?t come out and try to help? we will be doomed if anything happens to you?? Amber sighed.

Everyone but Crys and I left the room quickly, preparing for the fight that arrived far sooner than they expected. Crys looked at me sadly and said, ?Wow? when I found out about my powers, it was in a time of peace, so I had plenty of practice? but you? discovering your powers during a war?? Crys trailed off, then started speaking more loudly and decisively, ?All the more reason for us to work hard immediately!?

Crys started by asking, ?What has Amber already taught you??

Trying to remember everything Amber had told me, I answered, ?She taught me how to speak telepathically and how to fly? I guess that?s it.? Crys smiled. ?She knew what you needed most. Those are two of the most important things you will ever learn- however, there are three other things that were equally important. The first- teleportation.? Teleportation? This whole becoming Latios thing was really paying off!

?To teleport, simply envision where you want to go in your mind, focus on materializing, and you will teleport there in an instant! It?s that simple- but be careful. You can?t teleport to places that are too far away, or are back on Earth. If you try, nothing will happen, and if you are in danger, you will be open to attack.?

With that warning, Crys then prompted me to try it out. Focusing hard on the other end of the table, I imagined myself dissolving into the air. I felt a strange sensation of having nothing in my stomach, and the next thing I knew, I was on the other side of the table!

Crys smiled. ?The next thing you need to know is how to heal others. There will be many times when this will come in handy. The energy is your body needs to be slowly concentrated to your hands, very gently. It is actually harder than it seems, because if you don?t transfer the energy to someone else, the energy will turn into a blast that is fairly painful. You can?t try healing here, because there is nobody hurt, and don?t even think about blasting anything, of course.? I wondered, If I can heal people, then why can?t I just serve as a nurse to heal the war-wounded? I mean, there could be people, or Dragonites, dying out there, and I?m not doing anything about it!

Crys explained this last power with a much more serious tone. ?You also have the ability to create a round wall of energy around you, basically, a shield. However, if it gets broken, you will feel weakened, as you are still inexperienced. Over time, this will become easier for you, but you probably shouldn?t try it yet. To do it, you must focus the energy to your hands, and then use your mind to pull the energy around your body. If you do not form a complete circle, it will dissipate, and your energy will have been drained. You can use it for many things, such as surviving under lava, water, extreme cold and heat, and even to carry people underwater in your own private air bubble.?

She seemed to be done, so I headed for the door. Regardless of what she said, I knew what I had to do, and obviously, she knew what I was about to do as well, because she started to shout, ?DON?T YOU GO OUT TO TH-?

I never heard what she was going to say, because I was long gone.

I frantically rushed back down the mountain, hoping that I wasn?t too late. This time, it seemed that the floors were endless. I was filled with a feeling of dread that I was too late, and the whole mountain would crumble beneath me. Putting this thought behind me, I rushed out the large entrance, praying that we still had a chance.

Good news- I wasn?t too late. Bad news- We were losing. Badly. There were many, many bodies of dead Dragonites littered everywhere, but that was only one of the problems. There were countless Sneasel, Gengar, Misdreaveus, Mismagius, Houndoom, Murkrow- I don?t know how many there were, but there seemed to be almost none of them dead. Everyone was fighting with everything they had, and I could only hope that they weren?t depending on me. I turned to see Amber, fiercely fighting with- Darkrai and Giratina?!?

She was losing, and badly. Blood was dripping from her chest and hands, and she was hovering lower to the ground than usual. I rushed over to them, focusing my energy in my hands, then I slammed my claws into Giratina?s head. Instead of crumbling over the way I had hoped, Giratina slammed his head into me. I crashed down to the ground, winded.

Darkrai hovered over me, opening his hand. I could see blackness around me, and I could feel myself sinking into the ground. I tried to pull up, but some invisible force was holding me back. I looked down, only to see an endless dark void underneath me.

I sank farther and farther away, slowly losing sight of the surface. I blacked out, or quite possibly died, hearing Amber?s despaired cries.

Chapter 6: Casualties (Amber?s Perspective)

I watched helplessly as Alex sunk lower and lower into the void. The void closed off, and he vanished with it. Overcome with rage, I focused all of my energy and blasted Darkrai with a blast so powerful it sent him flying.

Unfortunately, Giratina was still there, and he slashed at me with his razor sharp claws, cutting deep into my chest. I cried in agony, the claws driving deeper and deeper into me. Giratina finally released, and I fell backwards, hard. My vision was getting cloudy, and I felt myself slowly drifting away?

Right before I went unconscious, I saw a glowing, large blue Latios not far away from me. ?Dad?? I whispered, and then I was unconscious.

I slowly opened my eyes, being sure not to move too much. I immediately felt a sharp, agonizing pain coming from my chest. I looked at my wound to find that it was bandaged, and hopefully, healing.

?Amber, I?m so glad you?re alive! I was so worried!? Mom exclaimed before gently embracing me.

I sat there for a second, but then the realization of what happened hit me like a bullet. ?Alex? Darkrai?s void? he? he? if I had just?? I cried, getting choked up.

?I heard from Zeke? he said that you couldn?t have done anything in your position. He froze Giratina after you were slashed in the chest. If he hadn?t been there?? Mom said, getting teary eyed. ?Zeke? how can I ever thank you?? She said, looking at the muscular, tall Dragonite across the room.

?No problem. It is my duty and my life? It?s just terrible that I couldn?t have been there for Alex ? We can?t just leave him. We have to try to get him back? assuming he isn?t gone forever?? Zeke sighed. Mom silently nodded and turned back to me.

?I partially feel guilty for what happened? He was my responsibility, but that Alex is just too headstrong! I couldn?t have done anything to stop him? He was far too risky. I had only just told him how to use some of his powers, and he just rushed right out?? Mom sighed. We waited in silence for a little while. Zeke quietly left, and Mom stayed by my side, watching him leave.

It still baffled me how they treated me in my own personal room! Because I was the current Latias, I got the traditional room- fancy white marble on the floor, about the size of an average living room, a door to a restroom, complete with a strange kind of shower, and even a Jacuzzi right in an adjacent room. And it?s my private room! They brought the stretcher into it, with the same leather padding that was everywhere else. Mom always reminisced about her days when she was just a girl, the good times and bad that she had in the room.

The nurse Dragonite came in to change my bandages. I winced as she pulled the white (currently red), absorbing material out of the cut. It was much deeper than I expected. There was a strange feel to the cut, as if there was a fire on the inside of it. I shrugged off the feeling and accepted the new bandages.

After the nurse had left, Mom quietly explained, ?After you blacked out, like I said, Zeke froze Giratina, and all of them just? retreated. It was as if they were afraid that they were going to lose if Giratina was out of the action, even if he was going to be alright. Good thing, too, because we were losing pretty badly??

Despite everything that just happened, I was glad to know that the battle was over, and the mountain wasn?t going to be overtaken right now. Mom left the room, and I willingly fell to sleep immediately.

I?m in a lush forest, with many Bidoofs and Cherrim happily frolicking among the trees. I travel farther into the woods, following a faint voice that was calling out to me. Amber? Amber? Amber? AMBER? It was growing more urgent, and I hurried up, afraid that it would go away. The forest gradually grew darker- there were no more Bidoofs, and there was a faint moaning sound echoing through the trees.

I entered a clearing, about the size of my room. This seemed to be where the voice was coming from? As I went towards the center, Darkrai materialized in front of me! I jolted back, startled, when Alex came out of nowhere and slammed into Darkrai. Darkrai whipped around grabbed Alex?s chest, squeezing tightly. With his free hand, he grabbed Alex?s face, squeezing just as hard. Alex screamed in pain, and the life slowly drained from his eyes. Darkrai released him, and he crumpled to the ground. Angry, I attempted to attack Darkrai myself, but I was held back by some invisible force.

Darkrai turned to me and said in a menacing voice, ?If you ever want to see him again? give me the plate of the Shadows?? Cold with fear, I could only stare. Suddenly, Alex sharply rose his head and shot his eyes open, blood red and vicious.

I jolted my head up, terrified and sweating, still unsure of whether it was just a nightmare.

That scared me quite a bit.

Chapter 7: The Shadow Plate

I simply laid there, not knowing what to do. Darkrai has the power to torment people in their dreams, so I should probably do something about it, but what if he had nothing to do with it? I don?t even know where to find him, or what the Shadow Plate even is! Feeling much better now, (physically) I got up and started looking for Zeke.

Zeke is the son of the Dragonite Commander, Otto. Zeke is the next heir to the throne, along with his Flygon wife Sarah, and he also has been traveling around, liberating many innocent towns from the threat of the Shadows. He is very kind, wise, and keeps his cool in every situation, and is about eight years older than Mom. Their son, even though he is only seven, is starting to be much like his father. Too bad he had to have been born in these times like me?

I finally found his in the conference room, with Mom. They turned to me, surprised that I was up.

?Amber? What is it? You look worried?? Mom said, her voice full of apprehension.

?I? had a nightmare. In it, I was in a forest that gradually got darker and darker, and in the middle of it? Darkrai? was there.? I started, feeling a chill run down my spine just from recollecting the dream. ?He had Alex, and said that if I ever wanted to see him again, I had to give him? the Shadow Plate. What is that? and how do we even find it?? I asked. Mom and Zeke looked at each other, their eyes wide with fear.

?The Shadow Plate? Are you sure he didn?t say something else? We can?t afford to give it to him?? Zeke said grimly. So, Zeke did know something about it?

?What is it, and why does Darkrai even want with it?? I asked.

Mom answered this time. ?I told you that when your Dad defeated the Dark Latios for good, it unleashed Darkrai, Giratina and Arceus. When that happened, before Arceus had his bearings together, Darkrai and Giratina possessed Arceus. Their hold, however, is only temporary. In another year, it will be gone for good, and Arceus will likely destroy them. However, if they can get the Shadow Plate, Arceus will be under their hold forever?? Well, that made sense. If they have Arceus, then we will be doomed. I can?t just give them the Shadow Plate though?

?So? where is the plate?? I asked. Mom gestured for me to follow her. We walked into her room, which was very much like mine, but it looked much more like a room on Earth. It had a normal Earth bed, and a refrigerator. Mom opened up the refrigerator and pulled out a dark, steaming slab. A dark chill seemed to fall over the room.

?I kept it in the refrigerator because if it isn?t cold, it emits Shadow energy, which is poisonous and can take hold of you if you aren?t careful. Also, nobody would ever think to look there.? Mom explained. I can?t help but wonder what we are going to do. We can?t just leave Alex?

Mom noticed my worried look and hugged me tightly, and whispered in my ear, ?We?ll get him back? don?t worry.? Despite her comforting words, I seriously doubted that she was right.

The rest of the day, I spent time in the mountain?s library, which was nothing like our libraries. Everything was written on yellow, shed Dragonite skin, which was awkward to touch, but was sturdy enough to write on nonetheless. They were all put in stone boxes, and piled in stacks according to topic. I needed to know everything about the Shadow Plate, and try to find a possible way to replicate it. If I could just make a fake one that was convincing, I could possibly trade it to Darkrai for Alex? hopefully.

So far, all I learned was that the Shadow Plate was the original source of the shadows, and it was Arceus?s private energy source. However, it became tainted when the Dark Latios added some of his own shadows into it, and it became overpowering. It was hidden in the Shadow Tunnels, a winding passage that supposedly lead to Oblivion. How Mom got it, I probably won?t ever know?

Suddenly, an idea struck. I ran into my room and got out an Orb that had some of the shadows inside it that I extracted from the Tyranitar?s mist. Orbs can hold any type of energy, so long as there is enough to fill the entire Orb. I had only three at the time, as they are very hard to come by. One is empty, one has the Tyranitar?s essence, and one? has Dad?s power in it. Before he went to fight the Dark Latios one last time, he put some of his power in it, for the next Latios. If only Alex had had this before? he may have been able to save himself?

I began carving a stone plate I found in the library archives, and I was in the process of making it look just like the Shadow Plate. It doesn?t seem convincing yet? I started carving the strange symbol into the plate, and it started to vibrate. This is it? I placed the orb right in the middle of the symbol, and the Orb started to dissolve. The plate grew darker, and began to smoke a dark vapor. I had another Shadow Plate.

I hid the ?Shadow Plate? in Mom?s refrigerator, and quietly let the rest of the day pass. Tonight, Darkrai is coming to get his Plate.

I slowly raised my head and got the ?Shadow Plate? out of the refrigerator, being careful not to wake Mom up. I brought it down the endless flights of stairs, eventually reaching the bottom. I went through the large stone door, and stepped out into the night. Wait? isn?t Darkrai supposed to be here? I went forward a little more when I saw something in the distance. As it got closer and closer, I saw it for what it was. Darkrai and Alex are here.

Chapter 8: Shadow Victims

Alex and Darkrai halted to a stop, right in front of Amber. Alex looked very dark, and was gray, black, and dark purple all over. He was emitting a strange mist? Shadows. He was possessed. Something tells me that Darkrai never intended on trading?

?I want the Shadow Plate?? Darkrai said maliciously.

?Onl? Only if I get Alex back.? I tried to sound defiant, but? I don?t want to die!

?Is this some kind of joke? Are you trying to defy me? Alex? go back to her?? I had to say, I am truly shocked that Darkrai just let me have Alex back. I handed him the Plate, and he started chuckling.

?Amber, Amber, Amber? is this some kind of joke? This is the most pathetic thing you have tried yet! Alex? we have no need for her.? Oh no? I whipped around, and blasted Alex with an Ice Beam, attempting to freeze him. He created a small, dark aura around his hands and it deflected back and froze my left hand to my body. Alex teleported behind me, and drove his claws deep into my back. I screamed in pain, crumpling to the ground. I felt a strange force flowing through my wound, and I slowly slid into unconsciousness.

The last thing I saw was Zeke coming out of the sky and slamming Alex into the ground.

I woke up in the same place that I was knocked out. I tried to get up, but couldn?t. Involuntarily, I got up and started flying north, towards the Shadowlands. The more I tried to stop myself, the more I kept on going forward. ?Don?t try to fight it Amber??A strange voice told me. ?You will be powerful? it will help you?? I slowly felt myself losing control of my thoughts, and the next thing I remember is slowly coming in sight of the hazy mountains that bordered the Shadowlands.

There is a bright, whitish haze all around me. I?m not Latias anymore; just Amber. I started walking around, wondering where I was. There was nothing but whiteness all around me. In the distance, I could barely see a large Dragonite. Zeke! I ran over to him, excited to see a familiar face. He looked at me, and the expression on his face was extremely grim.

?No? not you too?? He whispered wistfully.

?What? Where are we?? I asked.

Zeke held his head down, and shakily said, ?Amber? this? this is what happens to people that are possessed by the Shadows. Their souls go here, and a Shadow Spirit takes your place in your body. Right now? we are as good as? dead.?

That hit me, hard. Then, a sudden realization came. ?Wait? Alex was possessed! He must be here too!? I yelled excitedly.

Zeke shook his head and smiled. ?Your father took care of him. He is elsewhere, with Alex, teaching him all he knew? That was meant to happen. There needed to be a way for Alex to truly learn, but we weren?t meant to come here? we are the most capable fighters that are revolting against the Shadows, and you know that. But? now Darkrai has control over us, and everyone else is in grave danger.? Zeke ended, much more seriously.

If Dad is here? that means that we really are as good as dead. If only I could see him, one last time? But for now? ?So? what do we do?? I asked Zeke.

He replied with the answer I was afraid that I would hear. ?All we can do is wait? and hope for the best.?

Hello.

I was a member of the original Nsider and saw your fan fiction.  I retain the same name that I did on Nsider.  I may have even dropped a comment, but I can't really remember.  I glanced at your fan fiction and even tried reading some of it.  However, I couldn't, really.  I was too busy with my own fan fiction.

Awhile back, one of my friends, txteclipse recommended this fan fiction to me.  I decided to really make an effort to read it.  I found that I like it.  Maybe the fact that a Latias is in it made me biased.  But I like to think that the general plot of the story led me more into it.

To be honest with you, I've only read the first five chapters.  I just thought that I should leave a comment before I become too engrossed in the story.  You have to understand that when I really get into a story, I shut everything else out.  I become kind of lazy.

As for criticism, I can't really think of much at the present.  The only real problem that I have is that the story seems to be progressing a bit too quickly.  Maybe it's just me.  I don't know.

I like how the characters seem to be developing nicely.  I see all too often instances where the main character is seemly perfect.  He is untouchable and infallible.  This is not the case in your fan fiction.  I've seen him make a variety of mistakes (like running off into battle).  That's not to say that all he's done is make mistakes.  It's just a relief that he isn't perfect like many of the characters in fan fictions are now.

Now that I look at this further, we seem to be in the same boat.  Or maybe "seemed" is the more appropriate term.  We were both fan fiction writers on Nsider.  Then, the Crash hit, losing us almost all support and fanbase.  We had find other places to post our writings.  After that happened life seemed to go on, but it was still different.

For one thing, we both lost many loyal readers.  And I, myself feel that my fan fiction has been loosing ground.  It's not like it's dead, it has readers.  There just aren't as many as their used to be.  I wouldn't be surprised if the same thing has happened to your fan fiction.

Ah, sorry about that.  I tend to like to write a lot.

The bottom line is, I like your fan fiction, and I'll continue reading it.  I've also seen some similarities between your fan fiction and mine.  Maybe it would benefit you to take a look if you have some spare time.  Just search for "One Latias" on Google.  The first result will be my fan fiction.

And I'll probably comment again.  I have to get through all of the chapters that you've posted first.  Please, keep up the good work!

Aw man.  I wonder what will become of Alex.  He can't be laid to waste this early, could he?  And Amber...

You've made me depressed, anxious, even a little bit angry.  And that's a good thing.  I like a story that makes me emotional.  And if my emotions kick in, that means that I can identify with the characters, which indicates that the characters are well-built.

I'm dieing to see what will happen next.  I'll be waiting anxiously for the next chapter...

Chapter 9: Death? (Alex?s Perspective)

Okay, what?s going on here?

There?s this white haze everywhere? what happened?

Oh yeah? I got sucked into Darkrai?s void?

   But?

How did I end up here?

   Am I dead?

I really, really don?t want to be dead.

I started walking around, and? wait. ?I?m walking? Why aren?t I Latios anymore? Oh well? it?s not like that would help me here or anything?? I thought.

?Oh, great, now I?m seeing things. A faint blue light is shining in the distance. I?m already dead, aren?t I, so why should it matter??

I ventured closer to the light, thinking, ?Okay, it?s not just me, or? it is me. I thought I was the only Latios! Then who could this be? I must be seeing things!?

?It?s a Latios for sure. Oh great, now he?s turning towards me. Is he going to talk to me or something??

?Ahh, I had a feeling I would meet you eventually.? A voice said.

Chapter 10: Prisoners Freed

?You finally came...? He said. Or, rather he used telepathy to say it to me, only I wasn?t too sure about being able to talk back to him the same way.

?You were waiting for me to come here? Aren?t I dead??
Hey, it was a decent question. I mean, why would he be happy that I was dead? He didn?t seem evil or anything.

?You are far from dead. When you were sucked into Darkrai?s void, your body was possessed by the spirit of the Dark Latios. When I killed him, he lost the ability to have a body of his own, but now, when someone is possessed by the shadows, he can take control of them. Your spirit comes here when you have no control over your body.? The voice answered.

This explained a lot. At least I?m not dead? ?You?re Amber?s father, aren?t you??

His answer really didn?t surprise me. ?I am. My name is Erik. I can get you control over your body again, but after that, you?re on your own.?

Well, that would be nice. I was starting to hate this place. The mist gave me the feeling that something would jump at me, and I wouldn?t be ready for it.

Erik ripped open a hole in the air (how he did it, I probably will never know) and then gestured for me to enter it. I walked over to it, and left as he said a few parting words. ?Say hi to Crystal and Amber for me, and good luck.?

As I awoke, I was a Latios again. It really worked! Unfortunately, the Dark Latios did some serious damage to Crystal?s room before I got control again. Her bed was in shreds, the door was caved in, and the refrigerator was totally gone. I turned to see Crys bravely holding a metal bar, ready to attack me with it. Seeing that the darkness had left my eyes, she relaxed.

?Alex? you?re back?? She said wistfully. She looked stressed. ?He also possesse-? she was cut short by a loud noise. It sounded as if someone was trying to break into the room. The rocks that were blocking the entrance were gone, and waiting outside of the room was Amber.

?Amber! Man, am I glad to see y-? This time, I was cut short by Crystal.

?A-Alex, that isn?t Amber?? Crys said shakily. I looked back at Amber to see that she had a strange smile curling around her face.

In a strange, menacing voice, she said, ?Alex? I finally get to meet you. For the next Latios, you seem a little inexperienced. Prove me wrong. I want to see what you?ve got.? Before I could react, Amber blasted me with a dark beam from her mouth. I was thrown back against the wall.

?Come on Alex, you can?t be that weak?? She said.

?Who are you?? I asked, trying to catch my breath. This definitely wasn?t how Amber acted.

?Isn?t it obvious? I am the Dark Latios that you have been hearing about! Your little friend Amber is under my control! Now, fight me, and actually try!? Dark Latios said, rushing me. He slashed me with his claws, throwing me across the room. It was hopeless. Even from that first strike, I knew I had lost.

Just then, I felt a surge of rage flow through my body. This guy was possessing Amber, and pushing me around too much. I wasn?t going to be talked to like that! I gathered all of my body?s energy and emitted a huge blast from my mouth, this time, slamming him into the wall.

He laughed, saying, ?I?m glad that you now know how to tap into the powers of the previous Latioses. Maybe next time you can give me a decent fight! Take your pathetic friend back!? He said as Amber fell to the ground, the darkness leaving her eyes.

Crys and I rushed over to her, making sure she was alright. Looking up she said, ?Wha? What happened??

Crys answered, ?You were possessed, but Alex freed you.? Amber looked at me, thankful. She turned back to normal, and got up. She turned to Crys, worried.

?Why did they possess us? What did they achieve?? She asked.

Crys, looking very grim, replied, ?They stole the Shadow Plate.?

Hm.  It's good that Amber and Alex were pulled back from the edge.  But that seemed to have came at a heavy price.  I wonder what will happen now.  I can guess that some fighting will happen, but that's all.  Maybe there will be another battle.

Agh... It's all ruined...

All of the quotes turned into that glitchy thing for some reason... that... REALLY sucks.

Sorry for all of those who actually liked it... *sigh*

EDIT:

... no. I won't let it end like this. When I started it, I told myself I'd finish it no matter what.

I'm going to fix it, repost all of those ruined chapters, and I'm going to post several new ones.

Chapter 11: Illusions

I didn?t know what to think. I guess I felt like I had failed. These people, or Dragonites, depended on me-heck, they thought I was some ultimate hero, and I let them down. I don?t even want to think about what is going to happen because of this? Too bad that?s my role here.

Amber said, ?Well, there is no use just waiting here. We have to do something?? No duh. But what should we do? Find Darkrai and ask nicely for him to give it back?

Crys was still looking very grim, and was staring into the distance. She quietly whispered to herself, ?Erik? no? Erik? DON?T!? She ended in a scream before sprinting forward into nothing.

?Mom! What are you doing? Dad died a year ago! He-? Amber stopped as Crys collapsed to the floor. ?MOM!? Amber screamed, rushing to Crys?s side. Crys looked pale, and was breathing heavily.

This was getting scary. ?What is happening to her?? I asked. Amber replied with a quiet ?I don?t know?? Just then, I heard a dim sound that sounded like chanting. I rushed out of Crys?s room, and followed the sound down the hall. I entered the room where it seemed to be coming from.

The room looked much like Crys?s room, in that it was modern, but it had a more basic feel. It had a few rooms branching off of it, but I didn?t have time to look into them. Hovering in the middle of the room was a Mismagius.

It continued chanting as it turned its head to look at me. Amber rushed into the room, stopping dead in her tracks. Her face quickly grew as pale as Crys?s was. ?Logan? LOGAN! NO!? She screamed, rushing at the Mismagius. It threw her against the wall, with her still in a tremor.

Without thinking, I suddenly felt anger coursing through my body, much like when the Dark Latios had possessed Amber only a minute ago. On instinct, I rushed at the Mismagius, breathing a harsh stream of blue flames. The Mismagius screeched in pain, and teleported across the room. I then slammed my claws together, and a blast of light filled the entire room. The Mismagius screeched in pain, this time, it was much more harsh.

The Mismagius began to dissipate, and faded away, disappearing into a black mist like the Tyranitar Amber killed. Amber regained color in her face, and I rushed to her side.

   ?What happened?? I asked softly.

?It? was Logan. Logan? I saw him dying. Darkrai was raising him into the air? draining the life out of him?? She shakily cried.

It killed me to ask her this, but I had to. ?Who is? or was, Logan??

Amber answered, ?Logan? is my dead twin brother?? She said before cracking. She burst into a stream of tears, crying uncontrollably, and rested her head into my lap.

Chapter 12: Amber?s Revenge

We just sat there for a few minutes, with Amber slowly calming down. I almost wished I hadn?t asked her who Logan was. It pained me to see her so sad.

Crys walked into the room, and saw Amber with me, still crying. She walked over to us, comforting her. Amber explained to Crys what she saw, and then Crys started crying too.

Their crying was cut short by a rapid scuttling sound from outside of the room. A large Drapion crashed through the doorway, enlarging it. It let out a piercing shriek as it saw us. Amber stopped crying and her eyes darkened. She turned back into Latias and rose. I had to admit, I was afraid of her. She looked like she wanted to rip that thing apart.

Using some invisible force, she slammed the Drapion into the wall so hard that part of the ceiling caved in. She let the Drapion crumble to the floor, but not for long. She madly slashed across its chest with her claws, utterly destroying it. The Drapion dissolved into a black mist, and drifted away.

Crys regained her composure and said, ?This is no time to grieve for Logan. We aren?t safe yet??

?Good! I want to tear one of those Shadow dorks apart for what Darkrai did to Logan? He has to pay for that!? Amber said fiercely. As much as I want her to calm down, if she can fight like that when she?s angry, then we may be able to hold off all of the invaders.

We continued down the hall, and hit the staircase. We waited quietly, listening for a clue as to where one of the invaders may be. A roar from upstairs sent Amber blasting up the stairwell.

It turned out that the roar came from the peak. I noticed a sky patio that extended outward from one of the highest points of the mountain, but we went higher. The roar had come from the absolute highest point on the mountain, which was flat, and only about 20 square feet in distance and length.

A Dragonite was struggling with a large Garchomp, and the Dragonite was losing badly. The Garchomp had apparently taken a chunk of skin out of the Dragonite?s side, and was preparing to strike the finishing blow when Amber threw herself at the Garchomp. The Garchomp was sent helplessly sprawling down the mountain, hitting rocks on its long fall to its doom.

Crys went over to help the wounded Dragonite, and instructed us, ?I?ll help him. Go find the other invaders!? I quickly changed back into Latios, and Amber and I bolted back down the mountain.

We didn?t find anything until we hit the ground floor, where we found a strange sight- a Dragonite was attacking another Dragonite. There were a few Dragonites sprawled on the ground, apparently dead. There was only one left to stand against the attacker, and it didn?t look like she was so hot either. In fact, as soon as we got down there, she crumpled on the ground, leaving the rouge Dragonite free leave.

The Dragonite turned around, and Amber seemed surprised. Her surprise quickly grew to anger, and she growled, ?Zeke?? I could wait to find out who Zeke was. All that mattered was that the Dragonite, Zeke, was holding a dark slab. This had to be the Shadow Plate.

?Amber, Alex? I?m surprised to find you two here. I thought I had possessed you? but my masters must have had something else in mind for you two.? Zeke said. Okay, this was confusing. How could a Dragonite possess us? Darkrai had possessed us! The realization hit me. Zeke was possessed by Darkrai!

?Who are your masters?? Amber demanded. Zeke, or Darkrai, chuckled. I hated that.

?You?ll find out in due time? but for now, I must take my leave.? Zeke-Darkrai said before teleporting away.

Chapter 13: Not Safe Yet! (Amber?s Perspective)

So, Alex wasn?t able to save Zeke. Because of that, Darkrai now has the Shadow Plate. Great.

?Amber? who is Zeke?? Alex asked. I have to calm down from my rage before replying to him. If I don?t? I may say something that I may regret. After all, Alex is a nice guy. A little clueless sometimes, and headstrong, but nice.

Calming down a little, I replied, ?He is one of the greatest Dragonites that live here. He is a great person (or Dragonite) and we really need him back. Besides, if Darkrai had used Zeke to fight us right there, we would probably be dead. That?s how powerful Zeke is.? Alex nodded in understanding.

?So, what should we do now?? He asked. To be honest, I wasn?t sure of what we should do either. I mean, we can?t just walk right up to Darkrai and ask nicely. We have to have a good plan to get it back.

I honestly replied, ?Alex? I don?t know what we should do. But for now, the best thing we can do is wait. We need to be ready for another atta-? I was cut short by a Dragonite that came tumbling down the stairs. He was grappling with a small Houndour, which was trying to bite at his neck. The Dragonite grabbed at its neck and held it in the air, with it flailing helplessly.

?We are going to take you down, losers! I?ll be one of the commanders that did it, too! You?ll all see! I?m the Wraith!? The tiny Houndour announced. Alex chuckled.

?You do realize that all of your buddies are dead, or gone?? The Dragonite answered. That shut the ?Wraith? up. He looked worried for a moment, but quickly grinned evilly. He raised his head and let out a surprisingly loud howl.

?Oh, is the widdle baby sad?? Alex said in a mocking tone. I was about to say something as well, but then I realized what ?Wraith? was doing.

I desperately shouted, ?SHUT THAT THING UP!!!? The Dragonite slammed his fist into the ?Wraith?s? head and the miniscule Houndour shut up, but only for a moment.

?I told you you?re going to pay for this?? It dizzily mumbled before fainting.

Alex asked, ?What was it doing?? How could I break it to him that the fight wasn?t over? He looked beat already.

?It was calling for help. Fairly soon, we will have another wave of those stupid Shadow goons to worry about. This time, there will be much more. Get all of those who are still able to fight, and have them head to the defenses on the 18th floor!? I commanded the Dragonite. ?Oh, and? leave the ?Wraith? here.? I added.

He nodded quickly before rushing back upstairs, dropping the Houndour.

Alex asked, ?What did you want the Houndour for??

I smiled and answered, ?Because now? we have a hostage.?

Chapter 14: A Hard Bargain

Alex and I left the mountain and waited patiently in front of it. In the past, Darkrai had always been quick to respond to a call for help, so I was sure that we wouldn?t have to wait too long for some action.

I flew up the side of the mountain, all the way up to the small open windows in the 18th floor. Sure enough, all of the able Dragonites were already there, preparing for a fight. They know when they need to be fast.

I could tell Alex was nervous. He hadn?t seen this many enemies since the battle where he got taken by Darkrai, and he wasn?t afraid then because he was taken by rage. This time, there was nothing to hide his fears.

I attempted a few comforting words. ?Don?t worry, Alex. They will probably just trade off for their ?Wraith? and leave.? He didn?t seem to confident, but it was worth a shot.

It didn?t take very long at all until we started to see the reinforcements coming. In fact, we only had to wait a few minutes! Hopefully this deal will take about that long?

Zeke was in front, and still possessed by Darkrai.  Behind him was an army of Houndours, Misdreavus, Houndooms, Gengar, and Absol, arranged in groups of about 500 each.

I immediately spoke up, and Darkrai stopped to listen. ?We are holding your Wraith hostage!? I shouted, holding Wraith up. ?If you ever want him back alive, we demand Zeke?s freedom, as well as the Shadow Plate!? As I ended, Darkrai just laughed.

?What a joke! You seriously think that I would trade away this victory for that pathetic excuse for a commander? I promoted him, thinking he would be as powerful as his father, but of course, he is more useless that Alex is right now!? Now Darkrai was ticking me off. I could tell Alex wanted to rip his throat out, but all that would do is destroy any chance we have of saving Zeke.

?I will leave with a warning to you, Wraith. If you ever, I mean ever, waste my time like this again, I will personally kill you myself!? Darkrai threatened.

Wraith started to cry. ?No! Master, you have to save me! I beg your forgiveness! Please! HELP ME!? Wraith pathetically begged. Darkrai turned and left, with us simply standing there, shocked. Now was the time.

?Attack!? I telepathically commanded the Dragonites. An array of over 100 beams blasted from high up in the mountain, destroying many of the Houndours and Houndooms below, causing a massive dark haze. Immediately, all of the Shadow minions fled. Some army.

It didn?t take a long time for the army to vanish. Not that it mattered, because Darkrai was still boldly standing us down. ?You DARE turn on me? Just because I won?t take your pathetic deal, you attack me?? Darkrai screamed with malice. ?If you want a fight, I?ll give you one!? He shouted before splitting from Zeke.

Darkrai regained his normal form, while Zeke was immediately possessed again, this time, by the soul of the Dark Latios. Darkrai started creating a void underneath Alex, but this time, Alex was ready. He teleported behind Darkrai and quickly thrust his claws into Darkrai?s back. Alex suddenly had a pained expression on his face as Darkrai whipped around and grabbed hold of Alex, and began draining the life out of him.

I wasn?t going to let this happen again. I threw Wraith at Zeke, to occupy both of them, even if only for a second. I rushed over to Darkrai, and began breathing intensely hot blue flames on him. He screamed in pain and released hold of Alex.

My ploy to occupy Zeke was at an end, and he slammed his foot on the ground, causing the ground to crumble beneath us. Darkrai saw his opportunity and created another void, this time, much larger, in the new hole. I felt myself being sucked into the void, and I couldn?t do anything about it.

As soon as he got his wits back together, Alex rushed into the void and slammed me square in the chest, knocking me out, but leaving him in there instead. That gave me all the momentum I needed. I immediately flew back into the void and repeated his stunt, slamming him out this time. I had enough momentum to escape with him.

Our escape was cut short by Darkrai grabbing each of us with one hand each, and began draining the life out of us, with renewed vigor. I slowly felt myself growing faint, and I felt like I was going to faint.

Luckily, the Dragonites are ready to attack again. They blasted all around Darkrai, causing a slope at a steep angle. They also blasted Zeke to oblivion, immediately removing all form of possession on him. Darkrai, however, kept his grip on us, sending all three of us into the void.

Zeke leapt into action, throwing us away from Darkrai, but causing himself to be sucked down, into the void.

Chapter 15: Rest

I rested my head on the ground, exhausted. I would have been afraid for Zeke, but he had been through much worse before, and besides, there was nothing we could do to help him. I closed my eyes, and just sat there peacefully.

I heard a soft patter of feet, and with my eyes still closed, said, ?You don?t want to be doing that.?

The feet stopped and Wraith replied, ?Why not? I?m going to get as far away from you killers as possible!?

In a matter-of-fact tone, I answered, ?From that high up in the mountain, all of those Dragonites have a range of two miles. If you try running away, you won?t get very far. If you stay here, we won?t treat you badly, and you can live in peace. It?s your choice.?

I opened my eyes to see Wraith running towards the mountain. Even he wasn?t stupid enough to try to get away.

Alex looked at me and asked, ?How come you are extremely tired, and yet, I?m perfectly fine? I?m obviously weaker and less experienced than you are.?

I stood up and answered, ?Alex, whenever you feel some sort of strong emotion, such as extreme hate, anger, or desperation, the spirits of all of the previous Latioses aid you, and you gain more power and knowledge than normal. Don?t get used to it, though, because soon, you will lose the power that they just gave you, and you will be left extremely tired.?

He nodded, and asked another question. ?How come I haven?t seen any other? Pok?mon for a long time? I mean, other than Dragonites, and the ones that are trying to kill us.?

This question was even easier to answer. ?This is a very dry, and dead plain. There are no Pok?mon that want to live here, so that?s why you haven?t seen many. The Dragonite mountain is a refuge for all lost travelers, or simply whoever needs a little rest.?

Alex sat down, almost stumbling, and turned back into a human. He was breathing heavily, and between breaths, asked ?Is? this? what happens? after? I lose? what the other? Latioses? gave? me?? I simply nodded, and bent down to help him. I helped him get up, and we started walking back to the mountain, slow enough so that Alex could follow.

Once we were inside, I flew Alex up the stairs, and dropped him off into his room, which until now, he didn?t even know he had. His jaw dropped. ?This? is my room?? He asked in awe.

?Sure is,? I answered. Hey, I was amazed too when I first came to the mountain. The Latis get special rooms that nobody else gets. We have an extremely comfortable bed, fancy marble floor, an adjacent room with a small waterfall that runs into a small pool that we can swim in. Near the pool, there is a hot spring, where we can simply relax.

Alex ambled over to his bed, and plopped on it. I figured he was going to rest; after all, he hadn?t had any sleep since he got here. I left for my room, and quickly fell asleep.

Chapter 16: The Beginning of the End (Alex?s Perspective)

I woke up, extremely startled. I looked around to make sure I was still alive. Sure enough, I was in my new room, perfectly fine.

It all seemed so real? Darkrai had come back to the mountain. He killed Amber, Crys, and countless Dragonites, and then Arceus came? and possessed me again.

But it was just a dream- no, a nightmare, and none of it really happened. I got up and left the room, and was very startled at what I saw.

The hallway was in ruins. There were chunks missing from the ceiling, holes in the floor, and a few Dragonite corpses littered across the floor. I wanted to turn back and fall back asleep, but I carefully made my down the hall.

I checked every room I found, and I quickly found Amber, quietly sleeping in her room. I rushed in and shook her awake. ?Amber! There are dead Dragonites in the hall! The hall is completely torn up! What happened?? I desperately pleaded. Amber groggily stood up, and once I was finished freaking out, she suddenly shot wide awake.

?Alex, we have to see if the entire mountain is like this!? She yelled, turning quickly into Latias. I turned into Latios, and we started heading up to the other floors.

We didn?t have to use the stairs, due to the holes in the ceiling. Not stopping at any one floor, we kept going up. All of the floors were just as bad- there were many dead Dragonites on the floor, and there didn?t seem to be any survivors, other than us.

We kept going up, until we reached the second to top floor. Amber rushed into a room. I followed her, noticing the room was quite nice, and was almost as fancy as ours, minus the pools. Amber bolted to a pile of debris, moaning, ?no? please no??

I helped her clear away the rubble, and once it was all gone, we found something that made me wish I hadn?t woken her up. She burst into tears. ?No! Mom! They can?t? you can?t? NO!!!? She screamed, clinging onto the dead body of the person who once was Crys. I noticed myself getting choked up too, and I started to get teary eyed as well.

Amber asked for me to leave for a few minutes, and I thought it would be best to follow her wishes. I went up to the top floor, and went onto the large platform that overlooked the entire mountain, and was only slightly damaged. It was still dark, so all of this happened recently. But how recently? Were the attackers still here?

Out of the corner of my eye, I saw something that made me flare up on the inside. I turned to see Darkrai and Arceus, staring at the mountain from below. Darkrai was laughing, and saying something to Arceus that I couldn?t hear. I wanted so badly to rush down there and kill them, but there was no way I could stand up to Arceus alone.

I went back into Crys?s room, to see Amber slightly less distressed. She noticed me, and moaned, ?What are we going to do? I think we are the only survivors here? but why? If they were going to destroy the mountain? why not us??

I put my head down and answered, ?I don?t know, but they made a big mistake. We are going to find a way to destroy them for good! I know it! They are going to pay for this??

?Alex? we?d better leave. There is no reason for us to stay here? let?s go.? Amber said with confidence.

With that, we flew from the mountain, into the night.
