I would choose Pikachu with a Water type.
I had Torchic with Pikachu.

I just beat Darkrai in 54hrs 50min With Buster(Chimchar) Lv. 54 and Totodile lv. 55
but I didn't get any special kind of loot like that.

Check the Golden Chamber jobs, put Tododile as leader.

It should be unless your starter or partner is weak to fire. I beat Darkrao, but found Cresselia

I beat him a long time ago, and at the time my partner was Treecko, but I had no problems getting to Darkrai :P   Beat him on my first try, the only one that used a Reviver Seed was Cresselia, she is too weak >_>
