We've devoted most of this board so far to bashing new cartoons and revering the old ones, but quite frankly there ARE still some good shows out there, and they deserve some credit for keeping animated television alive. So, which do you like?
My favorite cartoon hands-down is Scooby-Doo: Mystery Inc. I didn't think it possible, but they have not only made a GOOD Scooby-Doo cartoon, but an AMAZING one. Seriously, there is no aspect of this show I cannot praise: the animation is great (when you get used to the new art style), it's freaking hilarious in every single way, Patrick Warburton is the sheriff, it actually treats them like they're in high school this time, it has a great theme, it's constantly parodying the old Scooby cartoons (Fred's knack for traps is now an obsession) while also revering them (they meet the Hex Girls in one episode), and IT HAS A FREAKING CANON WITH EVERY EPISODE BEING A NUMBERED CHAPTER AND A GREATER STORY ARC BEING SLOWLY REVEALED. If you haven't seen this show yet, you must see it NOW.
Other shows I love include Phineas & Ferb (even though there's always a song), Adventure Time, and Star Wars: The Clone Wars (it's gotten way better since the pilot movie).
Throwing this out there, you will all laugh, but I don't care.
Super Hero Squad Show. Ended up babysitting and watching it with these kids, and couldn't believe what I was seeing. Kiddy heroes like Wolverine, but with all the marvel content I've been longing for in a more mature show. Cameos galore from 2nd, 3rd, and 4th tier characters, a great plot, and, it's gosh darn cute.
This is how you make cartoons.

That's what screws with my mind about that show. It's like, a parody that almost no one besides the most knowledgeable Marvel fans would get... and then it's aimed at 4 year olds. I don't really get what they were trying to do...
UHHHHHHH
Jeez, I don't even know. Flapjack or Chowder, maybe?
The Shaggy/Velma thing seems weird to me, though. Guess because I grew up without that ever being an element.
I can't think of anything I like at all.
Batman the Brave and the Bold. Aquaman has a beard in that show, and one time they fought Grod, Monsieur Mallah, and Gorilla Boss with the help of Detective Chimp. Also the musical episode. Good stuff.
Apparently they are doing a crossover with whatever Scooby Doo show is on now for old time's sake.

Not exactly. They're gonna have a Batman episode that's divided into several minisodes (dream sequence or alternate universes, I think), and one will have Scooby-Doo as a send up to the old team up; not sure if they're actually gonna use Mystery Inc. or not.
No mention of Avatar: The Last Airbender?

When I said "modern," I was kinda implying shows that are
still running, or at least shows that were still running in the past year. And I don't count Avatar: Legend of Korra, because that's not out yet.
Cartoon Network is the only channel right now with an actually bearable schedule right now; Regular Show and Adventure Time are good but hit-and-miss, with Scooby Doo, Mystery Inc. being surprisingly good and Sym-Bionic Titan off to a strong start.
What's New Scooby-Doo?
Not a big fan of Mystery Incorporated, it just feels awkward and not as funny as any of the previous shows. Though I do like the animation.
Regular Show is the greatest show on the intercourse ing planet and if you don't like it you can suck a dick.
Adventure Time is pretty awesome too.
and as much as I intercourse ing hate to agree with light Sym-Bionic Titan seems pretty good from the 1 episode i watched

That's the point of it. They're trying to introduce the extended universe to the kids so, by the time their second tier characters get movies (this has been confirmed) they'll be begging to go to the theatre. Or, you know, just going.
Dr. Strange, in particular, is going to be important now, as it's the first film confirmed as Marvel/Disney.
Haters gonna hate, but Adventure Time, even if some episodes fall flat.
abatap and regular show are the tits
adventure time is probably a lot better if you watch it while high off your ass

Gonna go with these. Chowder is actually well done if you pay attention to it and Flapjack is just intercourse ing creepy in a way that makes you want to watch. Both remind me a bit of some the earlier Spongebob episodes honestly.
Adventure Time has grown on me a bit, especially after they had the Shetland Pony make an appearance.
Regular Show and Adventure Time hands down.
LOL at anyone who mentions 6Teen and TDI.

My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic hands down.
It's for little girls, but I dunno. It's great.

Yeah. I figured out, though, that embeds work. So I can watch them right off the channel. Which is nice, but I still would rather watch Youtube normally.

I watched the first two episodes out of curiosity.
IT.
IS.
GREAT.
But I'm far too ashamed of the subject matter to follow the series.
I knew that would be posted.

Believe it or not, this show is extremely popular.
More than Happy Tree Friends.
MLP is actually one of the best cartoons of the last year. I find myself watching it more than Adventure Time or Regular Show. Don't know what it is, though; the color schemes? The zany characters? The crazy antics?

ew.
Phineas and Ferb has been a personal favorite of mine ever since it first started airing. Not afraid to admit devout obsession on this one.
Regular Show is definitely the best Cartoon Network show I've seen in ages.
Adventure Time is awesome, but I haven't been watching it as much lately. I should start.
Dan Vs. is intercourse ing /genius/. Anyone who hasn't watched it yet...please do. Go right now.
I'm currently getting into MLP:FiM...and I like what I see. A bit girly for my tastes, but it's good enough that it doesn't matter.
The Amazing World of Gumball makes me laugh quite a bit. It's CN's newest cartoon, and it looks promising.
I haven't watched any cartoons in a while. I used to watch Phineas and Ferb, and liked it more than I thought I would. I just haven't seen it on in a while.
I'm sure it IS on, just never at the times I have the TV on and am not watching something else. Then again, I only turn it on when I know what I'm going to watch, so yeah.
Cartoon Network is losing their freaking minds; it seems like every new show they make is more nonsensically disturbed than the last.
Anyway, right now I'm eagerly awaiting the return of Young Justice, The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes (hey, I like Marvel/DC), MLP:FiM (I'm so ashamed), and I'm also starting to get back into Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Adventure Time.
I also would like to know what's going on with Scooby-Doo: Mystery Inc. and Phineas and Ferb; I haven't heard from those in quite a while.
Hey, I just realized something: as of the new decade, cartoons in general officially do not suck anymore!

At least they're trying. Nickelodean has absolutely nothing now.
CN is having more real life shows that it makes it look like it's copying Disney. I suppose they forgot that the C in CN stood for "Cartoon".
Wow, this is an old thread. I completely agree with the OP on
Scooby-Doo Mystery Inc. though. Everything down to the Patrick Warburton thing. It really is a great show. I just wish I saw more of the new season.
On a side note:
I so wish the Hex Girls would release a legitimate album.
I have a thing for Thorn.
Other great semi-new shows are:
- Power Rangers Samurai
- that new ATHF show
Maybe I'll think of more later.

While I'm happy that someone else likes Samurai, wouldn't it be more like a live action show, or are those included as well in this thread?
This is the Western Animation board, so Power Rangers doesn't count. However, the good news is that Nickelodeon is FINALLY going to get another good show:
A SEQUEL SERIES TO VOLTRON.

Well, that's why I listed it that little "
other great shows" thing. Obviously it's not a cartoon, but at the time, it may have slipped my mind.
Another great semi-new show is
Sym-biotic Titan. It's a shame that it got canceled. The robots were awesome--especially the gold one.
I too am very much looking forward to the new
Voltron. It was my
Gundam before
Gundam.
I think I also heard something about a remake/reboot of
Thundercats. Anyone else know anything about that?
So, as of a couple weeks ago (although I personally just finished it today), Scooby-Doo Mystery Incorporated is finished with season 1.
MIND=BLOWN.
Seriously, watch this show, IN ORDER; the story gets freaking crazy at the end. Now I can't wait for Season 2.

The Battle of the Planets parody is probably my favorite one.
Megas XLR was great while it lasted. It's a shame it couldn't have went on longer. Great theme song too--especially the full version.
