Title: Skyrim
Post by: Zero on November 17, 2011, 08:56:10 AM
This game is just plain great. Get it. Lose yourself in it. Love it.

Discuss the amazingness that is Skyrim.

I'm surprised it took this long for someone to mention it.

That said, I don't own it. I don't have the money, plus I only played a bit of Oblivion, so even if I did have the money I have far greater interest in other series like Mario, Zelda, Batman, Rayman, and Sonic.

Only have 40 hours in it so far. Feels like I've only barely scratched the surface.
Also, dem Companions.

I'm only level 14, have maybe 10 hours in. Currently working on crafting a full set of elven armor that I'll enchant to enhance my magic. Only have two pieces so far though.

I wanted to get this for the PS3, but it looks like that versions is having issues, like slow down and freeze ups if the save files get to big.  And as cool as the mod community is, I'm just not a PC gamer.

Looks like I'll be getting it for the 360.

My save file is nearing around 8MB and I haven't had any issues yet.

I think I'm just lucky though

Having a good time so far.  Up to level seven, killed a Dragon, got my ass whipped by some witches.

I'm using a lot more combat magic than I did in Oblivion or Morrowind- it just seems a little simpler in this game.

So

Empire or Stormcloak?

Right now I'm leaning toward supporting Stormcloak.
Title: Re: Skyrim
Post by: Zero on December 10, 2011, 11:32:51 AM
The Stormcloaks are pretty racist against every race except Nords, and a divided Empire sure as intercourse  isn't going to be strong enough to stand up against to the Dominion when they attack again(if you talk to any Thalmor they always say that they WILL attack again and the next time they do, they'll make sure to exterminate every non-elf race).

So yeah. It's a pretty easy choice. Empire all the way. I don't even know why anyone would support the Stormcloaks when they're naive as poop. They can't stand up to the Dominion alone.

With my guy as a Dark Elf, the racism does make me want to choose the empire.  But it seems like Stormcloak himself defeated the High King in a fair challenge battle, but was not allowed to rightfully take the throne.

I mean, for the past two games I've been working for the good of the Empire.  But they gave up a lot in that treaty.  Will the Empire even be strong enough to hold all factions together in the next war?  Or is it better for the different sects to fight against the Thalmor under treaty, yet remain segregated?  Will Ulfic be better for the Nords in the long run?

The Empire has been stripped so far that they agreed to outlaw their own main god.  I don't know that they can hold it together in the next war.

I just don't know yet.

You know what's better than Skyrim? A skyrimjob.

Get someone to eat out your poop hole while you're playing Skyrim.

So I got it for Christmas, and it's great great great. I do somewhat miss the scaling-enemies from Oblivion. Why? Because I've been one shotted by random ass ninnyes a good nine times now. Random. Ass. Bitches.

Watch out for Giants.  Seriously.  You're thinking "Hey, I can kill a dragon.  Imma intercourse  up this larger than usual person."  And then your tumbling down from 30 feet in the air in ragdoll animation.

I tried to take on some Giants, ended poorly. Speaking of dragons, holy intercourse  dragon priests. I was fighting the dragon just north of Whiterun when a coffin burst open and a Draugr started raping me with fire while a dragon did the same.

Anyways, my game somehow got deleted so I started a new one today. Having a fun time about it too - I went with the same play style I used in Oblivion (Sneaky thief/archer) with a few modifications (carrying around bigass axes and swords) and it's way more entertaining than the straight up Warrior approach I was taking.

The dragon priests are tough as hell.  My first fight with Volsung ended quickly and with a WTF on my part while my last save loaded.  I actually waited to level up a bit more and get some better gear before going back.  But that mask he drops is sweet.

I'm like 70 hours in and have barely completed any quests and haven't even touched any of the factions except for the first Companion quest. And I've done maybe the first five or so quest in the Main quest line.

They need to add a multiplayer to this game, it would be more eventful.

Even just co-op would be epic. I've always thought about that, even while Oblivion was the latest game.

I just got the Skyrim anyway. I have the PC version because I figured I'd risk the glitches, try something new, and get some use out of my laptop. I haven't actually started playing it yet, since I've been hanging out with friends and playing console games, but hopefully I'll start sooner than later.

one thing i can picture with a co op that would be rather annoying though "MY ITEMS MINE MINE!" you might get people who are like that LOL
Title: Re: Skyrim
Post by: RX-78-2 on January 21, 2012, 01:13:31 AM
That could happen, but I'm sure that there would be a loot sharing feature or something. Besides, people should really only be playing with their friends; no items fights.

On a side note, I finally got into Skyrim. I was pretty disappointed at the simplification of leveling and attributes, but I got over it when I started leveling up and getting perks. I still really wish that there was a way to increase speed and jumping height though.

Ok, so i've played through the main quest, many side quests, got full perk for light armor, one handed, two handed, and archery, daedric weapons, and all the special weapons quests completed. One thing about this game, its way too repetitive. I wonder whats in stall for improvements.

I feel like co-op or online play would just be people running around abusing FUS RO DAH or making "arrow to the knee" jokes.

Just borrowed the game yesterday, and it's pretty darn good.

I know I already said that I just got into Skyrim, but now I think I'm really getting into the swing of things. I still can't play that much because of homework, but I'm making steady progress. I'm level 12 and I've leveled up Stamina every time. I never use high cost spells and I'm just going to get the armor perks so I don't see a point in leveling up Magicka or Health. Besides, my play style needs all the carry weight it can get.

As for perks, I'm working on Heavy Armor, One-handed, Destruction, Restoration, and Archery. I'll eventually get to Sneak, Light Armor, and Block--possibly some more magic schools if I use them enough.

I'm playing as an Imperial by the way.

Smithing and enchanting are good to level for any play style.  Smithing would be good for you if your going to do both light and heavy armor.

I thought about both of those, but--it's not that they're too complicated--they seem like as hassle to get all of the items needed for training and otherwise making use of the skills. I'll probably try Enchanting, but I don't know about Smithing. Maybe when I get even more Carry Weight than I already have.

Iron daggers.  Buy the poop at the smith (iron ingots and leather, I think), smith it right there, improve it right there, and sell it back.  You'll be making money and increasing smithing at the same time.

Or do them both at the same time.  Fill up some soul gems (petty and lesser work just fine), then go smith, then enchant, then sell back at even better prices.

Then disenchant something with a smithing bonus (not too hard to find), enchant a necklace, ring, and some gloves with improved smithing bonus, and watch the gold roll in and the stats stack up.

There are some even more complicated versions of that system involving ridiculous fortify restoration potions, but the simple plan above worked just fine for me.  Make iron swords with a banish enchantment and you'll be hitting every vendor you can find just to unload one or two at a time.

any of you guys seen this. Bethseda let their game designers go free, letting them do whatever they want to the game, this is a sneak peak at what they've come up with for mods and Possible DLC for the future.
Personally i don't like the killcams, that would get a bit annoying, graphic enhancers would probably be a regular basis update rather than a mod or payed for DLC.

I heard about this too. It seems pretty cool and I'm definitely interested. I'd really like some official patches, but who knows if they'd accidentally add more glitches; just look at what happened with the chickens.
