I know the differences, but I don't know which one to get. Suggestions?

I'd say get which ever one is longer.

...(i can't really say which one so said that :-\)

I personally liked SM64 better, but that was probably because I played it first and have had it the longest.  SM64DS is basically the same game and it has those mini games.. If you think you'd like the mini games quite a bit (and they are pretty fun), I'd go with the DS version.

ds version, it has extra levels good graphics and you can play as mario luigi wario and yoshi
what makes the characters special:
mario:can wall jump and some bosses only want to fight him and can use the wing cap
luigi:jumps high when he dose his crouch and jump and he uses invisible cap
wario:SRTONG AS HECK and uses metal cap
yoshi jumps far  eats enemys and insted of getting a cap he spits fire

I've played both of them, but I can't decide which I want... I think I might like doing everything with just Mario more, but I'm not sure...

Also, SM64 DS has improved graphics, but on a smaller screen.  Controls are clunkier though with the D-pad.

Here is a Pros list for both.

SM64:
Great story
The original
Cool glitches :D

SM64DS:
Mini-games
Can play as Mario, Yoshi, Luigi, and Wario.
Can play anywhere since it is for DS
I miss the old Nsider Forums :(

The DS version has mini games. Honestly, I probably played a lot of those mini games more than the main game itself. Overall, I'd definitely consider the DS version a better value.

SM64 will cost 10 dollars,

so if you can find SM64DS for less than that get SM64DS.

Sounds solid - do that!
I've played (& loved!) SM64, but I don't have a DS. A game like that, though, I would prefer to play on a bigger screen, anyway. Just m/o :)
