Tom Nook can make his shop change from a one floor gas-station store to a high-class, two floor department store in about 5 minutes.

He's a Tanuki.

Actually, he does that during 24 hours.

Than that's you being "magical" and changing the world's time like a god, not Tom Nook.

It's physically impossible for a raccoon to build a second story of a building, most likely tearing down the entire thing, by the way, since it's bigger, rebuild it, model the inside, get all of the new inventories in, paint, run electrical, run plumbing, shower, change clothes, and greet you the next time you play, in 24 hours.

In fact, screw half of that, let's just say it's impossible for a raccoon to stand on two legs.
