Discussion of all totally new Pokemon is to take place within this thread.
One idea I remember(keep in mind I haven't read the original thread in forever), is that leaking battery idea. Electric/Poison was its type I think.
It's gonna have to evolve into something totally badass because a leaking battery isn't too great by itself. It's a battery, lol.
A generator evolution would be kind of cool.
Generator sounds almost steel-ish, since I'm picturing it made of metal, but Electric/Poison does make enough sense... I guess.
Steel/Poison? But you know, with electric moves? I think that was my original intent, I don't remember. But a Pokémon like this is GONNA LOOK Electric and/or steel. So one or the other. Both work for me.
Steel/Poison would be interesting design wise (though Steel isn't gaining much from the pairing but a STAB of a fun move).
I think a Generator would have to be Electric, but that's just going on logic.
A battery as Steel/Poison or Electric/Poison would be fine. Other Pokemon HAVE changed types on evolution (Swablu - Normal/Flying -> Altaria - Dragon/Flying), so if that would make it work better there's an idea.

Electric/Poison to Electric/Steel? I'd rather keep an Electric/Poison, even if it isn't exactly a generator.
I think the concept of the battery leaking is what we need to focus on. That lends itself to poison/electric.
What can that potentially evolve into, if anything?
Cell Battery
AA Battery
9-Volt
A battery can't really evolve into anything and retain the Electric/Poison type in a logical way.

...That sounds terrible. What can a battery do? Sounds way too much like a basic form to me.
The first would be, essentially, a single battery.
But I can see it progressing quite easily. Compare a car battery (which gets Acid leaks regularly enough) to a single AA battery. There's a clear progression [don't anyone dare bring up the scientific differences] in size and output.

I personally don't understand the idea of a car battery pokemon... wouldn't it be completely immobile? Unless you want to give it some form of locomotion (feet?) but I don't know what. (wheels?)
Not necessarily. I don't recall Rotom's Fridge/Oven forms being immobile. More so, it's not like there aren't other logical inconsistencies. Charmander fighting on water comes to mind.

We have pokemon based on plants, trashbags, and ice cream cones. I don't think there's an issue here.

Rotom's alt formes are the instant trump to that one.
Edit: And what Looker said. I couldn't find the right words for it. My original post had "Geodude is a intercourse ing floating rock."
Now, that pic helps put it all together in my mind, from the pic Rob showed
I think it should be a energizer, Golden power (but a little bigger) then Panasonic. Doesn't even look steel with those batteries.
Or maybe it could simply evolve into things that operate on batteries? lol
I suppose the leaking trait only works if its an acid battery. intercourse .
This sort of reminds of Magnemite and Klink.
If you guys are that concerned about the evolution you could always just attach extra batteries during each evolution process. Cell Battery, AA Battery and AAA Battery./sarcasm
In all seriousness though, we've had dozens of inanimate object based pokemon that also made no sense, so I don't find anything wrong with the battery idea.
It's typing on the other hand is quite questionable though.
-If it's going for Steel/Poison we could give it the "Static" ability.
-If it's Steel/Electric it could have "Poison Touch/Point". (The design could have a few jagged parts around it's body with dry acid/corrosion)
-If it's Electric/Poison it's ability could be "Magnet Pull/Iron Barbs" (With jagged metal surfaces on it's body)
Steel, Poison and Electric are the only 3 typings that would make sense with this, so basically what I'm trying to say here is if it has 2 out of the 3 above typings, the ability should go along with whatever the left out typing.
"Static" if it's not part of the Electric-type, "Poison Touch/Point" if it's not part of the Poison-type and "Magnet Pull/Iron Barbs" if it's not part of the Steel-type.
This is just my opinion on the typing.

Rotom is also part Ghost type.. or was in Generation IV. And it has the levitate ability. I'm just saying if we want to make it mobile, we need a way to do it.
SUDDENLY IDEA. We could always give it the Levitate ability and make it a floating battery. Type wise, that would remove a 4x weakness to Ground that the type would give it. I'm all for this idea.
Why would a battery, of all things, get levitate? I'm just incredibly curious. That, and I think one is pushing it enough (Eelektross).

What other form of locomotion could a battery have? Magnemite levitates (though it doesn't have the ability) and Eelektross was just given the levitate ability because GameFreak noticed this incredibly obvious way to make a Pokémon have no abilities that they've never used before. If you're talking about an Electric Pokémon immune to Ground, we've had more than one. Zapdos, Emolga, and Thundurus are all immune to Ground. I just don't see what you're talking about on the "one is pushing it enough" thing.. I really don't.

I really don't like it. Rolling its entire body should NOT be a primary form or locomotion. Especially if we wanted to put a face on the side.

Ball =/= battery. It's just so much more awkward with a battery rolling. The evolved form at least should levitate; if the battery is "leaking" it would work on the ground, but eh.

And the fact that nearly every Pokedex entry of Pupitar said it moves, and even that it COULDN'T keep still.
"Even sealed in its shell, it can move freely. Hard and fast, it has outstanding destructive power. "
"It will not stay still, even while it's a pupa. It already has arms and legs under its solid shell. "
"A Pupitar creates a gas inside its body that it ejects under compression to propel itself like a jet."
Except a battery is incapable of this.
An ice cream cone is incapable of anything.
Stop with the unnecessary logic on the battery. Geodude, Cryogonal, Cottonee, cocoons, FISH. All can move freely on land without feet. The battery can hop, leaving an acid trail behind it.
I'm beginning to sense rising tensions, so I think it's best that everyone tries to be careful what they say from this point forward.
Also, compromise. Seriously. Just make something up. Give it legs, make it float, let it hop, make it grow rockets out of it's ass; it really doesn't matter to anyone but the most anal people. You need to move on.
I provided a list of possible abilities, so can someone give me their opinion on them?
If it's Steel/Poison, that seems like a reasonable ability.
It won't be Electric/Steel, otherwise leakyness would be pointless. The idea came from the unique typing.
Electric/Poison, seems, meh. Doesn't seem like the best ability for it, though I don't know what would be better to signify steel.
There should be a Fight/Fly Pokémon that is a Crane. You know, Crane style martial arts?

Cocoons don't move (discounting walking in HGSS), Cryogonal LEVITATEs (ability), fish can literally float in the air so they're not at a disadvantage when not in water and Geodude......... I don't even know.
Unless we make the battery more then the battery... like add some feature to it. I don't know, a spring, a rolling ball, a wire coil, something. Even two wire coil type things that end in feet.
I'm amused by the idea of a walking battery now that I got copper wire on my mind.
Also I think we should put the battery aside for now. What we should work on, is the
generic normal-type, bird, bug, etc. found early in the game. These are as important as the starters are pretty much.. Every other Pokemon is just filler. We should pick an animal for the normal-type, decide on a bird, and/or come up with some kind of cocoon-making insect. Or bleh, we don't need a cocoon. Only gens I and III had them so far.
As least base forms of these before we work on fillers, please.
Generic Normal Type - A fox? Not like Eevee, but a fox that looks like a fox?
Bird - Woodpecker!
Bug - Stick bug?
Also, I'd like some feedback on the idea of Fight/Fly Crane (Crane style martial arts).

Fox: Yes. I would have said use the orange color of the fox to make it a fire-type, until I remembered Vulpix. So yeah, Normal fox is cool with me.
Bird: Hey, that's not a bad idea.
Bug: Eh, for a generic bug I'm against it. For a slightly-later-in-story bug, that could work.
Crane: I don't like that type combination much, to be honest. But okay, I really have never thought of it.
Just thought of an idea.
A Bug/Water Pokémon that is a Silverfish (Silverfish is what the bug is called, and it's name obviously implies it has something to do with water. THEY COME FROM DRAINS)
Dunno if it should be the bug thing from beginning, but I thought it could work.

IDEA THAT WILL BLOW YOUR MIND
(http://gyazo.com/f3423a833b0019fc564f9c27531882c8.png)
For a fossil Pokémon, I think there should be a Pokémon that looks like a Human-ish Caveman, Normal/Rock (Fossils are always Rock type). It can be like, "did humans evolve from this in the past?"
Whoa, a new post. Also, I think we should steer clear from human-like fossil Pokemon. The idea just seems creepy to me. What we could do is dull it down so much that it's still VAGUELY human-like, yet it still looks a bit more like a bipedal monster than a human. I think that's what you're getting at with the "evolve from this" thing, but then again, doesn't that bring contradictory definitions of the term "evolution" into Pokemon?
Remember in the Pokemon world there is no talk whatsoever about humans "evolving" from Pokemon. I'm not sure if doing that would be too much of a break in the fourth wall, because it's just... odd. Implying that the process that turned that fossil Pokemon into humans is the same process that turned Omanyte into Omastar. It's confusing.
Stop being so Poké-Christian, evolution is proved to exist in Pokémon, SO IT EXISTS IN THE HUMANS!
Also, I could swear I heard somewhere in some game that some guy said something like, "is it possible humans evolved from Pokémon?" Though, since I literally talk to everybody in the first playthrough of a game, and usually talk to everybody in second+ playthroughs, I wouldn't know who said that.
Regardless, I'm not saying it should look full blown like a human, I mean similar, kinda like Machop/Machoke/(kinda)Machamp, or Jynx, or whatever. Humanoid, not human. But it's Evo looking similar enough to a human+monkey+caveman that it can seem like a theory.
Technically, "Pokemon evolution" is metamorphosis. That said, evolution exists in real life, so it can be applied to Pokemon if you so choose.

I'm not being Poke-Christian or what have you; I'm just saying it's a bit unsettling to have an implication that humans evolved from Pokemon. Again, the term "evolution" is used in Pokemon WAY differently than it's used IRL (Which you people don't seem to get) so adding the idea of actual evolution just breaks the in-game fantasy logic. And there you have something in the same category as a fourth wall violation. Plus I'm not even going to mention how previous fossil Pokemon have been based on an era that came much before mammals. (Plus--mammals haven't gone extinct to the extent that invertebrates and reptiles have... and if it was so sufficient with its fighting capabilities and primitive intelligence, why is it extinct?)
Also, mammals aren't associated with fossils the way aquatic shelled invertebrates and dinosaurs are. I'm all for a rock/fighting Pokemon, but why a fossil?
It can be similar to how Aerodactyl worked, not actually a fossil

okay let's revive humans from amber.
Why are we discussing fossil pokemon now when we don't even have the generic poop done?
Because no one's doing anything on the Generic poop. I gave you ideas and you don't give me much.
"Cool ideas bro. Since it was your idea, only you can think of things in addition to how this is gonna look. Give those to me and I'll draw; maybe."

I guess I'll get back to sketches since no one else gives a rattata'a ass.
Meanwhile I want a bug do we have a bug? Let's think of a generic bug that isn't Poison or Flying, but is still realistic. I'm feeling Bug/Ground or Bug/Water. What about you guys?
Coincidentally, we've had both a Bug/Ground and a Bug/Water in the past, but they both turned into Bug/Flying types when they evolved. Let's keep bugs that are Water or Ground or something else realistic because there are bugs that live in the ground and/or water.
An earthworm for Bug/Ground, if it evolves it can be a Tapeworm or whatever that weird worm with sharp teeth is.
Also, Bug/Water can have a Leech, besides a Bigger leech, I don't know what it could evolve into. It can be an EPIC leech that evolves at level 70. (Fire/Bug Pokéjoke [name escape ropes me, and too lazy to check])

I was thinking one or the other, for the generic-evolves-no-later-than-early-20s bug. Not that we couldn't have more than one bug, but which one could we use for the beginning?
I like the Leech idea (disregarding the level 70 thing) because I don't think we've ever had an actual leech. It would learn Leech Life, of course.

I'd say two.
The first one should have a red patch on it's head while the second form has a full red crest.
My idea was:
Humming bird to start. Woodpecker evo.
Seems enough to me.
Three could work.
Could start out as a Red-Bellied woodpecker. Evolve into a Red-headed woodpecker. And then finally into a huge Red-Crested woodpecker.

Oh, right, this. Hummingbird and Woodpecker have a similar beak shape and purpose, it makes perfect sense for an evolution. Especially if the second and third stages had the drilling power of a woodpecker with the spectacular wing-flapping speed of a hummingbird. That's just scary. In a good way.
Maybe that could work with a three-stage line, mixing your idea with Mona's (using hers for the 2nd and 3rd stages) and sprinkling Zero's on top. Whichever way we do that, the final form being some kind of red-crested thing seems like a great idea.

I'm... really not seeing this. At all. I can't get a Rock/Flying type bird in my head without the entire body being made of rock. If it had a stone beak, that really wouldn't open it up to anything related to the rock-type that has existed so far in Pokemon. The beak wouldn't allow it to use Rock Throw, Rock Slide, or anything of that nature. Sorry, but... no.
However, Drill Peck just seems to be a given move for this woodpecker thing, and I have not been able to get the idea out of my head of a woodpecker using Drill Peck. Moves aren't anything we're going to work on, most likely, for this project. But man, it's obvious.
I know this poop is dead because kockmongler ruined it but me and my girlfriend were talking about what should be pokemon, and we came up with some concepts.
Electric/Fire Type Cheetah - Speed through the roof, mixed attacker, poor defense.
Not sure on the type for this next idea, but the inspiration was Electric/Rock, and it was "The Musician Pokemon", which can evolve with a Metal coat to "Electric/Steel" - Like other pokemon who always carry an item, this one has an instrument. Rock/Steel(metal) are there for the pun.
I like that last idea. But would like to see more than just Metal used.
Ghost for Soul music
Grass for Folk music
Ground for Tribal music
Dark for Goth music
Psychic for Electronica music
Water for Jazz music
Fighting for Rap music
Fire for Punk music
Dragon for Folk Metal. Yes.

Yeah that'd be better.
I'd like more soundbased attacks too so it could use them.
what creature should it be though
(Name), the Musician Pokemon - Fascinated by human music, this POKEMON builds and carries around a guitar and tries to mimic it.
(Name), the Alternative Pokemon - With an extended knowledge of human music, this POKEMON sometimes experiments with a variety of different sounds with it's guitar.
-
Electric/Rock Pokemon evolves into Electric/Rock Pokemon, who's form changes depending on what item it holds. I'd limit it to just a few though: Punk, Metal, Soul.
Cisum
Type: Electric.
Species based off of: Monkey
Super loud Pokémon with an interest in Music. Can manipulate items it holds to create music.
Evolve with Some Rock type item.
Electrick/Rock
Plays Rock Music. Holds Electirc Guitar
Steel type item
Electric/Steel
Plays Heavy Metal. Holds Bass.
Normal Type Item.
Normal
Plays something... IDK, but holds Acoustic Guitar.
Also has some advantages since it loses it's electric type, but IDK what.
And I thought a basic monkey can be the regular, and the evolutions can be all different types of monkeys. Like, maybe Normal can have an orangutan, and metal have a baboon? (I have no relations, just providing examples as to what I mean)
I don't like it being a monkey.
Me and my girlfriend (since this is our concept) came up with a few ideas.
The idea behind the Pokemon is it's called "the musician" pokemon, but it's really the "Rock and roll" pokemon.
1) It definitely starts as Electric/Rock to represent rock and roll.
2) If evolves into the "Alternative Pokemon", which represents different rock genres. So it won't be multiple evolutions, it will be forms.
3) It should be a bird (since theyre musical) or some animal with long whiskers.
3a) If a bird, it has feather fingers like farfetch'd
3b) If some animal with long whiskers, it plays it's whiskers like a guitar
4) It's form changes only in it's evolution, with held items (or, can be like Rotom and depend on location of form change)
5) Limit to three alternate forms, Punk and Metal being definites. (Electric/Fire, Electric/Steel)
I'd like there to be a new type combination.
Electric/Poison maybe?
