Stereo - 2 channels

Think of it like this. Mono = right. Stereo = left and right.

Surround sound = 5.1+ = real life (being at sound comes from all directions)

True. Mine are about 2ft apart and I hear the difference. But on my TV, which the speakers are maybe a foot apart, I don't hear a difference.
