Either way, hitting him with everything killed him. I used the hammer but it didn't have an effect. 9+8+8= 25, more than enough to kill Bowser.

Why, are you nervous about your match against him? I wouldn't be, to be honest, I don't think he's very good. But then again, I've never seen him up against anyone besides me, so I wouldn't know.

You have good cards, too. You've yet to lose a match. As long as you have a good strategy and hope that he overlooks things, then you should have the match in the bag. Besides, the tournament comes with rules. Who knows what I'll limit in the battle when you two play against each other.

Yes, unless specified otherwise.

For things like fusion cards and evolutions, I was confused on if they counted as a new character toward any character limit.

For example, say you say we can only use five characters... if we use Squirtle, Wartortle, and three others, we're technically only using four, 'cause you can't normal summon Wartortle... Same applies to Fusions.

I don't think Evolutions/Special summons should count toward a character count.

wartortle is a separate card from squirtle.  thus, separate character.
