Gen 2. Good pokemon, amazing music, Johto+Kanto in one game, Red superboss battle.

Generation One had the best Pokemon as far as design, originality, and nostalgia sake. Generation Two (specifically Crystal) and Generation Three though had better and extensive gameplay. Charizard and Jolteon are my favorite Pokemon so my vote goes for Generation One.

I didn't vote, though if I were to, I would say either 2 or 3. I don't know officially why, but they feel like the best in my opinion.

3rd gen is my favorite of the original games

but soulsilver/heartgold are the best games overall
