But I finally got videos working, to a certain extent.  I tried numerous ways to make them look as nice as possible but so far nothing has worked beyond what is up.  And yes, they are still lacking sound.

You use fraps right?
if you're on windows xp, go to  Control Panel>sounds and audio devices properties> voice>volume (button)
now you are in the "master volume window"
go to Options>properties> *in mixer device selection* input>press ok
now you are in the recording control window
unmute stereo mix
put the recording slider on the second notch on the bottom.

If it's higher than the second notch, it sounds like ear rape

It is a high pitched squeal that you can only hear when the volume maxed.  I'll do it this way and see what happens.


I rechecked everything you said and it produced the same result as before.

not sure if this has anything to do with it, but on the master volume window -not the recording control window-, I have "wave" set somewhere between the fourth notch from the top and the 5th notch from the top
