How do you check to see if they're legit?

I don't think Trades or Eggs count as legits. I made that mistake.

i caught a blue snubble in gold when there was a swarm of them, after catching 20 something regular ones

How do you check to see if they're legit?

If they're a starter, check the pokeball they're in. All starters  HAVE to be in a normal pokeball. Check it's OT, if its ?????? or blank, it probably isn't legit. Other than that its pretty difficult to determine if a pokemon is legit if the stats are normal and all that. As far as I'm concerned that's all that matters.

My first actual shiny encounter was a Weezing. I was afraid it was going to use explosion, so I Quick Ball'd it. I caught it. : D

The first shiny I've ever caught was a shiny Whismur in ruby. I got my second one from K. I traded an Adamant Drakrai for a shiny Claydol.

The only shiny I ever caught (or at least remember catching) is Magikarp, which evolved into Gyarados, BUT NOW EVERYONE IS GOING TO GET IT IN THE NEW GAME RAGEEEEEE
