the student council is dominated by the hockey jocks & affiliates, when there's really a much bigger base of people who like electronica, and bigger than that a group that likes modern rock.

they did a bad job of sorting out stuff to vote for.

There are a ton of happy hardcore songs that fit that description.  "Nothing Lasts Forever" by Mikk comes to mind.  And I don't think people would have a problem with that song...hardcore beats aside, the vocals are quite mainstream.
