The first night I hooked it up (Christmas Eve) later while it was off the disc slot was glowing and still glowing Christmas morning. I never noticed it do that again until last night and this morning. Anybody know why? I know it's not a big deal or anything, I'm just curious :)

Turn on wii>wii menu>bottom right icon (wii message board)>a message should come up.
it would ether be a message from Nintendo, a channel or a friend.

Ok, another question: can I send/gift someone a game or channel that I have purchased? As in, I decide to buy a vc game & I have it on my console. Can I send that game to a friend? And if I do, does that mean it's no longer on my console?

go to the game you want to send (in the shop channel)
there is a opition to "Buy" and "Gift"
but from what you told me you already have it, so it should only have "Gift.
you have to buy the game with your own points. and you do not keep the game.
