You must've been looking at the Spoilers thread.  March 28, 2008 is 6 months after the release (October 28, 2007). This is the time decided to no longer mark threads with the tag "*spoiler*" :P

To answer your question in a simpler answer, yes, October 28, 2007 is the release date.  ;)
