Title: Do places near you sell Legacy games?
Post by: Tupin on November 28, 2008, 05:58:00 PM
People around here seem to love retro gaming, so there's like five or six stores that specialize in retro games, in addition to all of the Gamestops.

What about you guys?

PrePlayed had a Dreamcast and an NES on sale.

It also has Atari 2600 games, dreamcast games, GB and GBC games, etc.

So, yeah.

Nope...everyplace is "mainstream" stuff.
My EB Games (before they were bought out) had a crate or two of classic games. It's where I got F-Zero, A Link to the Past, and GoldenEye...

My Gamestop still has classic Gameboy games, and they can't get rid of them.

Missourians love their retro games, apparently.  :D

There's a local chain that specializes in retro games/records around here, but I only counted one out of the many here. Most can actually hold their own against Gamestop.

Don't most stores like that in Canada have ridiculously expensive products because most of it comes from the USA?

There's this place here called Play-N-Trade, which is the first place that I've ever seen sell retro games.

I looked through the collection, but I had most of the N64 games already. I was looking for DK64 or Diddy Kong Racing, but they didn't have.

They had NES, SNES, Genesis and more games, but seeing as my brother currently has them, there was no point of looking in there.

I'm just happy that there's a place that sells N64 games within 5 minutes from me.  ^_^

I have one of those near me too, it's pretty good.

I wasn't sure if it was a National chain or not.

I need to check it out more the next time I'm in that shopping center.
They even had an N64 set up to play.

However, from what I did see, it looked MUCH better than GameStop.

It is, but they are individually owned and operated, so they are very different from each other.

Which is good because they have better service, but bad because you never know what they will have.

2, I think. One within walking distance, (doesn't have as much) and the other you have to drive to, but have MUCH more.

Didn't see this til now. No, not around me. My town is fairly isolated, and we don't have things like that. Although, most garage sales you go to at least have a Commodore, or something similar.

Wow... I tried the Play-N-Trade closest to me, but it sucks.

I either have all the N64 games (I don't have that many. D:) or they suck.

I was hoping I could find Donkey Kong 64 or even Banjo Kazooie, but I don't know where to find them. D:

Something tells me that my parents are gonna have to let me use eBay soon.

Well, if it's new, people are probably just finding out about it.

Oh, and another interesting note. Someone around here must have been REALLY religious, there's so many Wisdom Tree (Bible themed) games around here, even the Genesis and Game Boy ones.

The local EB Games has some GB, N64, and PS1 games. That's about it though...

Weird, all Gamestops near me don't have old games except for GB games, which they are trying to get rid of.

My GameStop used to be cool and have used Game Boy stuff and a NES bargain bin. No longer.

But if you happen to be up in Antigo, Wisconsin (where I work over the summer), Mojo's Electronics is pure retro, selling maybe 5 current-gen games and the rest is last gen and below. Also, VHS tapes. So many freaking VHS tapes.

Only place near me is Game Xchange, and I've only been in there once to look for some Phoenix Wright games. I might go back for some older games, though.

The Game XChange near here is okay, but it's not worth going out of the way for, especially with so many better stores.
