Title: Triple Threat Trivia
Post by: Macawmoses on June 26, 2009, 10:29:39 PM
NOTE: THIS IS A BETA. PLEASE ATTEMPT IT SO I CAN WORK OUT THE KINKS!

I promised I would debut a new type of trivia. Unfortunately, it is hard to explain in IRC, so we'll start off in the Toad House. This will come to be played in chat, in the future, though.

The name suggests three. Triple. Brilliant logic. Here is an example of a "question".

QuoteTechnetium, Uranium, Plutonium. 3 Relationships.

That's the question. Your job is to find the relationships between the words. With some, I have a different amount of points for each one - 3 relationships for 3 points, 2 for 4 points, and 1 for 5 points.

The answers:

Quote
1. All end in "ium"
2. All are elements.
3. All are radioactive (more-so than the other elements).

Note that some are pretty easy (1 and 2), while the third takes a little more knowledge.

Let's try this question:

Wormtail, Moony, Padfoot. 3 Relationships.

1. All males.
2. All transform into animals.
3. All debuted in Prisoner of Azkaban.
Hard. All are nicknames of the above characters

In the actual chat version, I will likely stick to the hardest of the relationships...as some of the ones are really easy. Or I'll allow more than one answer.

Anyways, post your answer to the following, looking for the hardest one.

QuoteO'Donnell. Powalski. Caruso.

They're all Nintendo DS related (If the fact that they all start with M isn't the obvious one).

I'll give it to you on the basis that the Mariners have extended DS Wifi services in their stadium.

Really, answer I wanted was Franchises owned by Nintendo.

0, 1, & 1...? Uhhh... They're related by binary code, and their factorials = 1 (0! = 1, 1! = 1)

Binary is one of the answers.

Factorials is also right.

But, there is another math related one.

All appear in Binery
All are numbers
All are odd. (Not nessicarily in the traditional mathematical sence. :P)

Explination: the number 1 is an Odd number.
0 is out of place with the other two numbers. Out of place = Odd. Zero is Odd.

I always took zero as being even. Any number that ends in zero is even. But if you are going to say they are all odd, wouldn't you need an explanation of why the number one is odd in the 'quirky' sense?

Also, if you want to get very specific with the binary code, it's part of the golden string.

Not really. You see, it's simple: They are all odd. That is the simple common factor of the three. Does it truely matter that one is a differant odd than the other two? No, cause they're all still 'odd' in some way, shape and form.
