Not necessarily. I'm making people admin based on how I think they'd be able to handle the responsibility of running the forums.

It is a difficult decision. You are going to have to chose people based on:
-Trust
-Experience
-Reliability
-Power Control and
-An overall well known/liked member of the community
Be wary when choosing admins...
I would love to be admin. I can take care of fan-art board. ;0
I'd love to be a mod or admin. But, not a randomly picked one. If I am picked, it's got to be for my helpfulness or something of the sort.

Well, that could be done as a MOD/the two admins are both graphic people, whether or not they're better then you ;0. We're still working on the MOD/Admin position, give it some time.

I'd disagree about being "liked", "respected" would be closer to the word that you are looking for, I think. "Liked" implies that you have to constantly pull strings to keep your friendship with everyone. Other than that, though...right on the money. :)

Answer: Because picking just your friends is a bad idea for modding unless he knows you and me VERY WELL. Just look at the other forums with M_F, he put mods in place that were only his friends and the place fell apart
