Title: Sonic Generations Demo
Post by: Nayrman on June 23, 2011, 03:46:20 PM
So, the classic Sonic Green Hill demo is out. Been playing the crap out of it. the game looks AMAZING when you actually see it on screen. Also, SEGA, this is what Sonic 4 SHOULD'VE been. Now, onto the complaints. Sonic feels a bit stiff. Kind of like he's working against your input than doing what you say sometimes. I don't know if it's the engine at work or if he's designed that way, but oy, loosing him up some. Jumping is also a bit heavy, but that can easily be gotten used to. Just loosen him up some.

Finally, apparently SEGA was stupid and left file names for every item, character, stage, and boss fight in the demo. So yeah, we know what levels, bosses, and characters will be in the game. Smooth Sega.

Spoilers, duh:
Stages:
Green Hill
Chemical Plant
Sky Sanctuary
Speed Highway
City Escape
Seaside Hill
Crisis City (lol Sonic 06)
Rooftop Run
Planet Wisp
Casino Night Zone (apparently some pre-order bonus at Gamestop)

Bosses:
Time Eater (we believe the final boss)
Metal Sonic
Shadow
Silver
Death Egg
Perfect Chaos
Egg Dragoon
And some other stuff I'm not sure of

Characters:
Tails
Amy
Cream
Rouge
Espio
Charmy
Vector
Blaze
So yeah.

Perfect Chaos

YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH

Nice level selection, too; this is now my single most wanted game, above and beyond Skyward Sword and Arkham City.

I must say, though, I'm shocked that
Knuckles
isn't on that character list. Also, I'm kinda hoping this game has split-screen, multi-character multiplayer. I don't need a bunch of different modes like Adventure 2 Battle; I just want to do multiplayer on REAL stages with REAL characters, not that bullcrap we got with Colors.

We do know that
Knuckles
will appear, as there is a model in the demo code that Retro is extracting. We just don't know if that means a boss or cutscene or whatever. For all we know he'll be in one of the levels somewhere.

Funny that Sega makes Sonic trip down themselves with these mistakes they do.

Downloaded the demo; geez, I don't remember the spindash ever being this fast. It's fun, and I'm sure classic fans will enjoy it, but I think ultimately I'll enjoy Modern Sonic's levels better.

The demo was too zoomed in at parts. I'm surprised they didn't show a modern Sonic level.

Sonic Adventure DX Director's Cut was by far the best 3D Sonic game.

I'd put Adventure 2 Battle slightly above it, although I love Chaos since I see him as the ultimate Sonic villain. He's made of Sonic's weakness, he has a closer connection to the Emeralds than any other character, he's freaking colossal in his awesome final form; he just screams "Final of Final Bosses," and I think Adventure had one of the best stories in the series.

I feel like I'm the only person that hates Sonic Adventure 2.

Hates? I could totally understand someone preferring a different Sonic game, but why on earth would you hate it? It had one of the best stories, fun gameplay, and was easily the most stably built 3D Sonic game until Unleashed came out.

Unfortunately, I've never even played Sonic Adventure 2. :(
