Help beating gaffgarion

Any tips? Ramza usually doesn't end up dying. It's the people outside that can't win without Ramza. Mustadio keeps getting crystalized. My strategy so far is to get Ramza down by the gate lever and keep using hi-potions and try to beat the other enemies with my other people. The problem is they keep dying. Here is my party:
Knight
Mechanist
Holy Knight
Chocobo :P
I'm open to suggestions on jobs or abilities. My other best person is on a mission and is being recalled to a city I can't get to. I have some other human soldiers but they would need some serious level grinding to do any good.
