Nearly everyone holds an opinion regarding the LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender) community. Regardless of what you may believe, reading or listening to the perspectives of people that you know and can attach a face to is likely to have an effect on those beliefs in some shape or form.

This week, I wanted to take the focus off my advice and commentary because I believe your voice should be heard. I posed the question, “What is one thing you want straight people to know about your sexuality or gender expression?” to members of PRISM. Hopefully, this compilation of thought-provoking quotes gives you some insight into what your peers’ thoughts and feelings are on what it means to be a member of the LGBT community. I also included some quotes from famous and/or historic sources to add to the greater perspective.

You are indeed the first to comment on this article. This now entitles you to mystical powers that only other first posters have ever received. Indeed, your hunger to be first on other articles will likely be insatiable after you taste the spoils of your victory.

But alas, these powers may be lost on you, as, unlike other original posters, you have "no life." Those devoid of life cannot harness the true power of the first comment, which, of course, is the ability to stop your spastic colon from twitching every time you enjoy a Filet O' Fish sandwich. Instead, your lack of a true life, coupled with your uninteresting, self-serving post, means you are doomed to a life of gaseous, uncontrollable bursts whenever your need for fried North Atlantic cod arises. Damn it all!
