Title: Size of the roster slots have me scared...
Post by: FULL_METAL_RYDER2 on December 10, 2007, 03:07:10 PM
There only seems to be 3 rows, and the size of the slots are so large... It only looks like each row could have about eight at the most, which=24 characters. Which would suck, sure there have been fighting game sequels with LESS characters then there predecessors, (Tekken 3 had less then 2)and turned out great.

But we already know of 22 slots that MUST exist... but Sakurai talks about unlockables as if he hasn't revealed any, besides Sonic and Snake.

As you unlock characters, you get more rows.

Also, Sakurai wanted at least 40-45 characters.

Well, my theory is that we'll have about as many starters as Melee has characters. So, 24 is a perfect amount. Now then, the slots would get a little smaller so that more rows would fit in after characters are unlocked. That would likely be 3 more rows. So, 3 rows to start, 3 for unlockables, therefore 6 rows of 8=48 characters. I think that sounds good.

I think that they just made the slots big on purpose for E-For-All.

After all, the screen would look really weird with small slots for only 10-12 characters.

Dude, Meelee did the same thing, but you unlcok all the characters, and they get smaller.

ALSO, It added an ENTIRELY different row!

I doubt that's the final character select screen. :O The should bring back the character taunts when you pick them. That was awesome! XD

Mabye the characters on the Dojo are the only ones in the game, and Sakurai thought putting the rest in as ATs would be good enough ;D

Anyway, we still have... 13 (14 is you count Sheik) characters from Melee that havn't been updated yet... Pichu is probably out, but do you think Sakurai really take out that many characters from Melee?
Even if he left them all in, that would mean that the confirmed Newcomers are the only newcomers.
