Title: Most stressful ride ever...
Post by: TheKoopaBros. on December 13, 2007, 06:14:52 PM
As is normal for me on the weekdays I take a bus from one part of the town that I attend my college in, back closer to where I live. The bus ride typically takes 30-45 minutes.

Today was interesting to say the least.

The thing was, this 40-something lady (whom I believe has some sort of mental problem) had taken her cat in to get spayed at the vet. It ended up dieing on the operating table. This was sad in itself and I'm sure the majority of the bus passengers (myself included) felt at least a little bit sympathetic towards her and her loss.

That's not what the big deal was. For the entire bus ride she would cry, shout, and repeat various phrases about her cat dieing and every time a new passenger came on she'd move over and preach her sad story. After a while once people had acknowledged her story she got angry and started threatening people and shouting at them as to why they don't care and should. This was getting really unnerving and I knew my adrenaline was pumping the whole trip. Finally the bus driver pulled over on the curb and told her that if she doesn't get a hold of herself he would make her get off the bus. She quieted down after that but she still kept repeating her story, something talking just to herself.

I really did feel sorry for her, but beyond a certain point grief to that degree becomes very unnerving.

Yeah...not the typical day...I know. :P

I actually don't like listening to music in public. I'm somewhat shy, and generally don't do that. But, its a good idea.

I got that impression too. I didn't want to do anything. I wouldn't want to upset her more than she was.

Listening to music and shyness connect how?

I personally don't like attracting attention to myself, and I attribute that to my shyness.

Listening to music doesn't attract attention...

Do you sign or mouth words while listening?

No, I just have the impression that people will be more likely to stare at you if you're using headphones.

Oh.

Sorry about that. It didn't come outright.

I just feel that people are more likely to stare at me (even if that isn't the case) when I wear headphones, and in general I prefer my music to come from speakers in the comfort of the room I'm in.
